I have had this computer for six months and it has proven to be a great bang for the buck. I love light weight, bright screen, and quick boot-up times. Xandros Linux is easy to use even for a Windows diehard like me.
For extra storage I have been using an inexpensive 2G SD module. I have used the Open Office software for PowerPoint presentations at the college where I teach. You-Tube works very well too.
The PC does have a few minor problems when logging to a Windows network. It is slow to recognize other PC's on the network. You cannot edit in place a document on a file server, you have to first copy it to a local drive.
The free space on the 4G SSD drive is sparse, you only have 550M of free space. That's not a lot of room to install other apps or upgrade the existing ones. The CNR software download site has not been working anyway.
The default interface is good but as a power user I would like to have access to the full desktop.
The wireless adapter works well most of the time, and automatically logs on to my router. Sometime I do have to manually run the wireless software to connect.
The manual is OK. As more advanced user I would like to see more technical details.

Ok well I'm 13 and my mom wants to buy me a computer that is very low price, but is functional and acceptable.I am still looking an I told her I want this one because of what's in the description, and for the price. But here's where it gets better!I went on Dell.com to day,and I saw the Mini Insprion 9 Netbook, and it's 20 times better!
The price is very expensive ,just like the Asus Netbook. The Dell is much more nicer looking, and has better features. Its hard drive is much better.I don't have it yet but my uncle has it an he says it's perfect for on the go and mp3 downloads, etc. He says the keyboard takes time getting use 2 but thts all. Also there's a feature when you get 2 customize it,but tht jst adds more money.plus shipping and handling, the Mini Insprion 9 Netbook(Dell) comes out to be 257.99!thts the real price WITHOUT adding any features onto it!!!Worse caseinario,I'll get this Asus. But i'm going 2 get the Dell!!!
go to http://www.dell.com
click laptops
click mini inspiron 9
and jsut browse the images and watch the video!!!!

Get one of these + a 2 gb ram chip + external usb hd + usb cd/dvd burner, partition the hd to 2 partitions, install windows xp on partition 1 and crashbang or mandriva linux to partition 2 and you will be outperforming most desktop pc's.
This was my 2nd asus eee 1st one is a 701 purchased last year (which still runs flawlessly)
Dont worry about small ssd's as the usb hd is way faster anyway.

Wife bought one for her return to college and she loves it. Easier to use than Windows XP and LOTS faster too. She loves it and uses it more than her 14.1" Acer Aspire with Vista. If you want a powerful machine for graphics, gaming or CAD then this is not the machine for you. If you want a reliable little machine for web, e-mail and basic office use, then this little critter can't be beat for the price. The slightly smaller keys take a little getting used to but by the time you get all the personalizations finished, you are already used to it. Get one and see for yourself.

My husband bought me this so that I could have my own little laptop for those times when I don't want to sit at the desktop pc or use a big heavy laptop. It's perfect for traveling and I'm online in less than 1 minute. I prefer linux due to all the viruses on windows. The operating system is very easy to use.I have dsl 2wire and it works easily.wont replace the home pc but still a great little computer at a great price!

I bought this netbook at target. It's a great size for carrying and perfect for surfing. It will connect to almost any wireless signal.(unless the signal's locked}The linux system is so easy to use and you can download free stuff off a site.(there is an icon to click) Windows is so easy to get viruses and linux has free anti virus software, and all the open office that comes with it is compatible with windows.
If your in to low cost, ultra stylish, ultra thin, and ultra light weight laptops this laptop is for you

Its not bad for beginners, but not what you want if doing more.
This is probably the most popular model because you it's the only one you can buy in stores. The small keyboard takes some time to get used to but thats alright. The main problem with this is it has no harddrive, it runs off SD cards instead, making it more likely to crash, and giving you very little memory. The internet also takes awhile to connect to.
Since it is Linux, it has trouble opening documents from Mac and Desktops with XP. FOR WEBCAMS - it is IMPOSSIBLE to find an external webcam that is "plug and play" for linux, since this one comes without it build in.
Over all the eee pc is a great computer, but this model has many flaws so before going to buy one, i would consider buying one offline from asus themselves, looking at the 901+ or 1000 series, and for me, Windows XP is the way to go, not linux.

After doing a little research (dell, acer, and others)on mini notebooks I was really impressed with this one I was up in running online..soon as I charged the notebook went on the road and actually went online. I'm fine with linux. Certainly the price is right...I mosstly use it for online...still getting the hang of it the full capibility of the product.

this thing is amazing, it connects to the internet fast just everything about it is fast and simple. the internet can be slow though not through fault of the computer, but the network. everything is smaller but after only a day i was comfy with it.
all in all 5stars... it really should be 6stars cause thats how great it is!
