It is a full X-box system MINUS the HARD DRIVE if you purchase this unit do not forget to PURCHASE A HARD DRIVE with it. A 60 GB Hard drive will run you about [..] and a [..] about 80 to 100 depending on where you purchase it from.

As others have already noted, the Arcade system does not come equipped with a hard drive which is costly to add later. If, however, you are like me and have already bought an Xbox 360 (or more than 1) and have fallen prey to the Red Rings of Death, this package is probably the best bet to get a new warrantied Xbox console. Just remember to save the hard drive from the broken console and you can use it with the Arcade version. There is no sense in buying another console complete with hard drive and other accessories if you already have one.

Unnecessary with the Price Drop

This has worked fine as a second system in our house, but we ended up adding a hard drive to it pretty quickly. Now that the price has dropped on the pro and elite systems, it costs more to add an official hard drive than to buy the better system.
While it's definitely a solid machine this system is no longer the best price value even though it has the lowest cost initially. If you intend on purchasing games online, downloading or saving a lot of content, or downloading movies with it you may be better off getting a model with a hard drive installed.

Okay a word of advice to all the parents buying this for your children. Get a warranty. lol Secondly...get the rechargable packs for the controllers...you will waste money on batteries if you don't!!!! Another thing to invest in is the [more expensive] headset. Here's why...you usually get the cheap one and it works fine...but breaks so easily. We have already gone through 4 of them this year. Yeah it's more expensive but we've wasted a hundred bucks replacing the cheap one.
