Avington TV Stand February 1, 2009 Reviewer:  Happy Shopper "L.J." (Moore, Ok.)  See all my reviews >

I don't usually write reviews, but I really wanted to encourage others to consider this buy.
It was super easy to put together. We also bought two of the matching bookshelves to put on either side for a very nice entertainment center. Assembly took less than two hours for all three pieces with the help of my husband, of course. The box says it will hold a 42" T.V., but I took the measurement of the width with us to the store before we bought our T.V. It holds our 46" Flat panel VERY comfortably with 1 1/2 inches to spare on either side (could have probably bought a 48-50") We placed the flat panel T.V. on the top shelf of the entertainment stand, instead of hanging it on the wall, but that would look nice, too, because then you could use the top shelf for electronics. (We also brought the flat panel T.V. all the way to the front edge so we could have lots of room behind for the surround sound's center and base speakers.)
The box doesn't tell you the inner dimensions of the upper two shelves, so here they are in case you are wondering if your satellite box, DVD player, and stereo receiver, etc. will fit.(We took a chance and everything fit-very snug.) Each opening= 22 3/4" wide X 6 1/4" high X 18 1/4" deep. PLEASE NOTE these are the inner dimensions because there is a lip around these openings. SO-The access openings are actually 20" wide X 4 3/4" high X 18 1/4" deep. You might want to enter things through the back opening when you are setting things up for the first time. Another hint is to add things before assembling the top.(Luckily it is your last step in the instructions, which are, by the way, VERY EASY to understand, great pictures, too.) Another measurement you might want to know is for the inside of each of the drawers= 17"wide X 5"high X 13"deep. Both drawers will hold a total of 88 single boxed DVD's, spine side up. Looks great, too.
The whole unit looks very rich, and classy too. The price was great (we got all three pieces on sale).
I did wish, however, that the bookcases had an option for an opening in the back for electrical cords, but we modified a small part of the back corner for our game system which we placed on the lower left side. But I will forgive, because it is supposed to be just that, a bookcase, not an entertainment center.
So, my husband got his T.V. for Christmas and, as picky as I am, I got a wonderful entertainment unit at a WONDERFUL price.

The item pictured is NOT what is delivered! May 20, 2008 Reviewer:  Mark See all my reviews >

The item pictured is model #247-17-0002. The item delivered is model #247-17-0009 (as stated in "Additional Info"). The difference between these two is that the self on top for the 0009 is only about 5 inches high (which will not fit your standard AV receiver), where as the 0002 top shelf is 7.5 to 8 inches, which does. I found this out the hard way after purchasing from my local Target after seeing the 0002 model on display marked incorrectly as the 0009 model. After assembly I scratched my head for hours until I went back to the store and pulled the assembly directions out of the floor models drawer and found that it was an entirely different model (0002) number which I can't find anywhere! This is a rock solid stand, I love it, but I want the 0002 model which my equipment will fit into! Target, what’s with the confusing switch!? What’s the deal with the 0002 model? Where can I get one?

Good Value January 11, 2009 Reviewer:  Simple Girl "Ann" (Middletown, IN)  See all my reviews >

I picked up this tv stand at my local Target. It is a rather heavy piece of furniture! Carrying the box up two flights of stairs was my day's workout.

The assembly: The process was quite easy. It was helpful to have an extra pair of hands to hold things at times, but you might be able to do this project solo. The number of parts was a little intimidating, but everything was well labeled. A few of the cam locks wouldn't go in straight, which made putting the top piece on a little difficult. It took some pushing to get things to line up properly. Altogether, it took about 2 hours.

The good: The color is very nice. It is dark, but not 'almost black'. The stain on my piece was very even. It looks much more expensive (sale price in my store). In fact, I've seen furniture stores where a similar stand retailed for 2 or even 3 times as much. The frame seems very sturdy, and I don't think the top part will bow under the tv.

The not so good: There were way too many little screws to attach the back cover. 17! I only used 9, and it is holding fine. The drawers are a little sub par. I wouldn't put too much in them for fear of them falling apart. The support piece for the drawers barely fits in the space it is supposed to go. (It is too small for it. The wood dowels holding it in place go into the other materials only about a 1/4 of an inch).

The facts: The stand is about 48''W x 21''D x 21''H. The open shelves are about 22.5''W x 19''D x 6.5''H.

We love this TV stand, it's a great buy for the price. It say's you can only have a 42'' TV on it but we've got a 47'' and still have room for something bigger. It was shipped to us all in one piece no scratches or dings and was very easy to put together...couldn't be happier it look's great with the two book cases living room table and end table...great set =)

Great TV stand! Beautiful piece. December 29, 2008 Reviewer:  K. Boehme "Gwen and Julian's mom" Real Name (Huntsville, AL, USA)  See all my reviews >

At first I was skeptical about this furniture - cheap Target stuff always seems to be made of particle board and falls apart in a couple of years. We have 2 small children and 2 medium-sized dogs so I wanted either something cheap or something that would last a long time. Well, this Avington collection has taken care of both of those. It is extremely well-made, full-wood construction (except the back of the TV stand). We will be keeping all of these pieces for a while.
The drawers are spacious enough and open smoothly. Our PS3 fits perfectly on the shelving.
They were also fairly easy to assemble. It took one person about an hour and a half for this piece.

I definitely recommend this whole collection! It looks great together and goes with many different styles of decor.

Oh, and to Michelle R: our 42" flat-screen fits perfectly.

love it!!! July 22, 2009 Reviewer:  happy customer See all my reviews >

Well I work at a very high end furniture store but i can't afford to buy there furniture for my own home. I know what good furniture looks like and let me tell you this could sell for 4 times what it cost. It is very nice!!!

Great Piece of furniture for the price! May 26, 2009 Reviewer:  Happy Customer (Vienna, VA)  See all my reviews >

This is our favorite piece of furniture so far out of the Avington collection. Setup was relatively easy and it looks like a TV stand people would spend twice as much on at some retailers. We bought this at the store.

Nothing to it! November 19, 2008 Reviewer:  Laurie A. Eckrod "Sport Taxi" Real Name (McLean, VA)  See all my reviews >

What a deal. This stand was very easy to put together- I don't understand how it can be a problem when everything is label. I did it myself in under an hour. It's super solid and looks much more expensive then it really is. I plan on getting more pieces from this collection.

Missing parts November 17, 2008 Reviewer:  Trudy "Trudy" (Broken Arrow, Ok United States)  See all my reviews >

Make sure you check your box for all the parts - maybe even check the box before you leave the store. I drove to 3 different Targets to exchange the stand with no luck. I called the 1-800- number on the instruction sheet and they are sending me the missing part in 7 - 10 business days. UGH!!! If I don't get the part soon - back to the store for a refund.

Missing part labeled I.

Very deceptive November 3, 2008 Reviewer:  HHIChica "Ashley" (Knoxville, TN USA)  See all my reviews >

This is a very nice piece of furniture. Very solid and nice to look. And very simple to put together...if you have 6 hours and a degree in advanced engineering.
