watch out if your child falls

Reviewer:  Christy G  (Lorton, VA)  See all my reviews

We just got this for our two year old son. He loves it. He plays the drums and hands the other instruments out to the rest of the family to play with him.

His favorite part is wearing the drum around his neck to march, but after only an hour of having it home, he fell on the drum while marching. He has a horrible bruise on his stomach. I read the earlier review about the child who twisted the strap around his neck and between that and my son's fall, it seems too dangerous to me. I think we'll use it as a sitting drum and not let him wear it, which is a shame since he loves it, but I don't want him to get hurt.

Agree with other reviews

Reviewer:  Lizz R "Lizz R"  (Madison, WI)  See all my reviews

I agree with the other reviews! This is a GREAT toy, but the advertising stinks. The little girl I used to watch has this toy, and LOVED it, so I purchased it for my 7 month old son. I'm glad I read the reviews before opening his though, b/c it still advertises as having FIVE instruments, when it really only has 4 now. The ladybug xylaphone was one of our favorites, and it looks like they no longer include that in the set. I haven't decided if I will be keeping this toy yet or not. I'm VERY disappointed.

Deceptive Advertising

Reviewer:  TheirMom "Mommy2Boys"  (Houston, TX)  See all my reviews

We purchased this toy and our son was already playing with when we noticed that there was no ladybug xylophone. We tried to take it back before we'd read these reviews and and realized that none of the sets contained the xylophone. My husband called Battat at 800-247-6144 to complain and the woman on the other line already knew that the item was missing and was very argumentative and defensive. She simply said that it was no longer included and offered no explanation for why it was still being advertised with the xylophone.

Our son likes banging the drum, but isn;t interested in anything else. The lid does not stay on the drum, and the jingle bell ant is really too thick for him to hold with one hand.

We love shopping at Target and are generally happy with most things we buy there, but we are really disappointed that Target hasn't changed it's advertising to reflect the actual product that it is selling.

Great, needs a few tweaks

I bought this for my 8 month old son. He loves to sit and bang on it. He loves all the rattle toys inside. He loves to pull up on it and push it around. My biggest complaint is that the top just rests on. I'm not sure why they didn't make it a screw on list. Not only can my son get it off (potential for breaking it), it makes it hard to travel with as if the drum slides in the car the contents can spill out. If the lid would screw on I'd give it 5 stars!

The ladybug Xylophone is not included :-(

Reviewer:  mom of a 1yr old "~ I"  (IL)  See all my reviews

Wow the makers of this toy raised the price and removed the best instrument (ladybug Xylophone). I purchased the set without realizing that and now I’m probably stuck with it because I had opened it. I’m considering just putting it back together and taking it back, I feel cheated.

I FEEL CHEATED!!!!

Reviewer:  Blmedwards  (Nashua, NH, USA)  See all my reviews

FEEL CHEATED -
I have bought this several times before and always felt it was a good value, a great toy for the price. Now it costs more and there is a large instrument (a ladybug xylophone) not included. You can still find the original Bee Bop Band on line. Be careful what you order and really look inside. Don’t get cheated like I did. Plus I tried to contact magazine and manufacturer and they’re not helping at all. Form letters and no call-backs. In this economy while we’re watching our purchases cheating is worse than ever.

We got this for my 8mos old for Christmas. She has played with it a lot since then. She's now almost a year old and likes it even more. It's durable, brightly colored, and fun. My 6 and 4 year old like making music with her too!

Awesome toy!

Ok, so I let my 9-month old play with the instruments ( under supervison only!) She loves the sounds of the instruments. She doesn't use the drumsticks or the ladybug xylephone yet, but she loves to shake the other toys and to beat the drum with her hand. I would not recommend allowing a small baby to play with this toy unsupervised because although the toys are well made and do not seem as though they would break, there are some small pieces (ladybug antennae) and jingle bells that baby could put in the mouth. ... (at 1-year-old now my daughter still loves the shakers. She is beginning to get the concept of the drumsticks. Still not giving her the ladybug becacuse I don't want her biting the antennae off. I can't wait to have parades through the house!)

GREAT FUN, lots of noise

Reviewer:  Evan's mom  See all my reviews

My 1 yr 10 mo old son LOVES this set! Although he plays the drums MUCH more than the other instruments, he LOVES it! It's very durable, also. He's been known to sit on the drum (he's 30 pounds), and tries to stand on it. The xylophone ladybug isn't very "musical", so he uses the attached stick as a microphone. GREAT TOY!
