Great item to have around the home, I never used one but now that I have it I'm constantly reaching for it. With two cats and a toddler it's a MUST. When I empty it out, I can't believe the tiny particles of dirt & dust it's getting, stuff I can't even SEE. Easy to empty, filter washes out when it's clogged up. Very powerful, even on a rechargeable battery. I would definitely give this as a gift, for a new bride or a new mom or even a new pet owner. The holster-like wall-mount charger uses the same amount of electricity that a nightlight would and you just grab & go when you need it. Worth every penny and then some!

This is the most powerful dustbuster that I have owned. It does an amazing job of picking up the smallest particles. I have 2 small children and it is a lifesaver for those small messes after meals and all other spills. I have also been very impressed with the long-lasting battery life of this product. Others I have owned seem to have good suction the first few uses, then lose battery power and suction with consecutive uses. The Black & Decker DustBuster has proved to have a very long battery life and excellent suction. I would highly recommend this item to anyone looking for an excellent quality hand vac. It is worth it!

I do not like this vacuum. Here are my reasons:

The suction is inadequate. It is fine to pick up things on you kitchen floor, but if you ever want to clean anything on carpet (especially a car), forget it.

Cleaning is difficult and dirty. To get suction, you have to clean the filter, and it is not easy to clean.

Emptying the canister is precarious and messy. I always have to do a follow up vacuum after I empty it.

It is always plugged in. There is no automatic shut-off mechanism when it finishes charging.

I did not like this vacuum and would not purchase it again.

Couldn't ask for a better hand vac; however, it uses a VF08 replacement filter. They haven't been available anywhere, including the Black and Decker site, since I got it for Christmas. I've searched and searched, but to no avail. The lady at B&D just told me to keep calling because they'd have it eventually.

I am very pleased with this hand vac and i have tried many others, for instance: shark and was not satisfied with its performance. I have 3 cats and 2 dogs which create a mess with the pet hair. This hand vac has been a life saver.

I got this last year at my bridal shower, I had it on my wedding registry. Its a great little handheld vacuum. The only problem I have is sometimes its a little difficult to figure out how to open the waste holder and empty. Other than that, its fantastic! I recommend most couples add this to their registry, works well for under the couch cushions, car, or any other areas you can't reach with a full-size vacuum!

I'm not sure why the other reviewers had problems. This is by far the best dustbuster I have used. It picked up all the dirt and gravel from the car, the carpeted stairs were clean in no time, dog hair was all picked up. All in the same charge with no notice of losing any power. Maybe previous posters didn't do the initial 24hr charge before using?

It's very easy to empty. The filter is not a big deal to clean, it's plastic so dries quickly. The cover comes off easily and goes back on easily.

The power button stays on so you don't have to hold it while using it.

Their is an edge piece that slides out to get into grooves like between car seats.

It's attractive, as dustbusters go. Blue with silver and a cloudy dirt compartment so you can see if it needs to be emptied but not too clear.

I'm very happy with it and would highly recommend it.

Originally did all right when first purchased. But within a month will not hold charge more than a few minutes at best. Going to another brand.

I've owned and burned out Dust Busters since the old 4.2 volt busters of the 80's. This is without a doubt the best unit I have ever owned. For small areas, it is as powerful as an upright. The vacuum hangs secure on the wall in it's base. Unlike older units that just clicked into the base and then fell off wall everytime you slammed a door. Also the direction of the exhaust is finally correct. Older units would blow dust back in your face depending on the angle you were vacuuming from - not with this one though. I like this one so much I intend to go to Target and buy another right after the holidays.
