doesn't toast - no matter how long you leave it in - garbage, and that's where it's going.

Bad design

Reviewer:  Debbie - a mom  See all my reviews

The toaster is wide to hold bagels, but watch out toasting a pop tart. There is enough space on either side of the metal piece that holds the bread on the bottom for a pop tart to slide right by. It happens to us all the time, and we have to unplug it and pull it out piece by piece -- what a pain when we are trying to hurry in the mornings! Otherwise, the toaster is okay, though it is true that it does not come up high enough to easily grab the bread. I liked our 12.99 toaster that we had before more than this more expensive one.

Looks Good But Does Not Las Long

I thought with the Black & Decker name I was buying a great and long lasting toaster. NOT THE CASE! It broke within the year...don't waste your money.

Black & Decker-Try not to burn your fingers

Reviewer:  Sunshine (Colorado)  See all my reviews

Toast does not pop up high enough to grab. Practically have to unplug and jab with a knife. Hello, did the manufacturer/designer not try it out before putting it on the shelves. I purchased the Back to Basics egg maker/toast maker yesterday. It is really cool. So far, definitely recommend it. The egg was cooked perfectly and it times the toast to be ready about the same time as the egg. Very cool..

didn't last long

Real Name

I bought this toaster because I needed a new one & black & decker is a name you can trust. The toaster didn't last long at all. Also when the toast pops up it doesn't come up enough to take it out.

Reliable, easy to clean

Reviewer:  Karen M  (Sandusky, OH, USA)  See all my reviews

I have a husband who uses a toaster daily and usually creates a sticky, greasy, crumby mess of it. When our previous toaster quit working (apparently I broke it while I was trying to clean it), I wanted to find one that would be easier to clean. This is it. I no longer need to hold the toaster over a trash can to empty the crumbs via a drop-down door, because this one has a convenient slide-out tray. And the plastic exterior is much easier to clean than the not-so-stainless steel toasters I had in the past. My husband has used this toaster for several months now with no complaints about the quality of his toast, English muffins, etc.

So Not Worth It!

Reviewer:  Junior Mom "M. Pepper"  (Bogota, NJ)  See all my reviews

I needed a new toaster so I went to Target to buy one that was attractive and functional. I thought this one was beautiful and a brand name I could trust, so I plunked down the money.
Needless to say, I was sorely disappointed! The toaster toasts well, but I cant get to the bread since the coils don't allow it to spring high enough for the toast to pop out! The toaster itself is really wide and takes up too much space on my counter and the defrost feature (which actually was a deciding factor in my purchase) hasn't ever worked at all! Wish I had returned it.

This toaster was great while it lasted, but it only lasted for 2 months before it stopped working.

Doesn't toast well, broke after a few months

Reviewer:  Rachel S  (Chicago, IL)  See all my reviews

This toaster doesn't toast well at all; after a period of time that you'd think would be sufficient to burn a bagel to a crisp, a bagel will come out only slightly toasted. I always had to toast something multiple times to get it golden brown.

More importantly, I wouldn't recommend this toaster because mine broke after about six months. The handle won't stay down, and I've resorted to using a small piece of cardboard to jam the handle down and keep the toaster toasting. (I'm going to look into the warranty.)
