A PIECE OF JUNK - DON'T BUY!!! ZERO stars

Zero stars is what this Black & Decker water dispenser is worth. The review page would not allow a choice of zero stars. It is not worth the 1 star I had to pick in order to post this. The dispenser turned very good filtered water into foul and undrinkable water. A total disappointment. I tried it for three days. The bad tasting water got worse. It tasted like burnt plastic. I ran the bleach/water solution (as described in the owner's manual) through it for 15 cycles allowing every 5th cycle to sit in the reservoir for 30 minutes. The manual suggests 3 cycles, but after reading reviews I figured I would need to run more through it. Next morning. Same awful taste. I was SICK. Target gave me my money back even though I did not have my box. Cheers to Target!

Uggggggg - horrible horrible - bad bad tasting water, I have run 25 gallons through it and no change. Still have the box so back it goes to Target, I hope they at least give me store credit. Impossible to load water without a mess, I usually lose a gallon down the sides, across the floor and under the water cooler, it's a load of towels just to keep the water contained and then sopped up. Will not try another Black and Decker home appliance product. Target should take these reviews to heart and remove the product from the shelves. For those couple of you who have had good luck - congrats - wish it had of been me. A [price] is lot of grocery money for my family.

My husband and I saw this in the Target ad last week for dollars so we decided to purchase it but DIDN'T read the reviews first! We got it home and set it all up. We got the water from BJ's since it was cheaper and the first 5 gallons tasted FUNNY-kind of like it had chlorine in it and we couldn't figure out why. After going through 2 5 gallons of spring water, and realizing it's not the water, I read the reviews and we are returning this junk today! I am amazed the Black & Decker even puts their names on something like this! DO NOT BUY!

Bad taste, too loud

The good:
1. Nice easy-to-push buttons to dispense cold water and hot water
2. Hot water is not boiling but is hot enough for tea, hot chocolate, oatmeal, etc.
3. Cold water is the ideal temperature for drinking--cold but not too cold.
4. Lots of room for tall cups
The bad:
1. No spigot for room temperature water. There is only hot and cold.
2. Nearly impossible to put a bottle of water without spilling several cups of water all over the floor and walls. It would work OK if I used the sealed bottles, but I refill my bottles at a local store.
3. The refrigerating motor is fairly loud.
4. Foul taste. The cooler turns nice water into a foul-tasting liquid that I wouldn't serve even to my neighbor's ill-tempered dog. My daughter said "It tastes like a motor" and wouldn't drink it. I washed the inside of the cooler with water and bleach, and ran several gallons of water and bleach through the cold and hot water systems. That helped a lot. I can't detect the foul taste anymore, but my wife can. She still won't drink it.
We got this cooler as a gift in mid-October 2008. We've been using it for almost two months.
DO NOT BUY.
UPDATE Jan 19, 2009: The foul taste came back and even I could taste it. I cleaned out the water cooler again. Then it started leaking all over my kitchen floor. We took it back to Target. This water cooler has been worse than useless.

At first glance this product seems fine, but once you try loading a bottle of water on this piece of [..] you spill at least half of a gallon of water on the sides, theres no way around it, I looked at the manual it doesn't say anything about loading it.
The second thing I didn't like about this is that it's noisy, makes more noise than my 5 year old fridge.
Third - as if those two weren't bad enough there was the taste, awfull taste like rubber, tried cleaning it several times no change there, then I noticed the bad taste was present only when I had it plugged in, so now I keep it unplugged (fixed the bad taste & the noise) but then I said why would I keep a [..] water bottle dispenser (downgraded from a watercooler to just a dispenser because I had it unpplugged) that makes a mess every time I try to change the bottle. So it didn't make any sense keeping it, Now keep in mind me and my wife received this as a wedding gift about two months ago, so we have lot's of presents at home of course I'm not gonna save all the boxes in my small house the bad thing was the gift receipt was taped to the box, so I did not have box or a receipt, Target didnt want to take it back, I talked to the supervisor nothing, then to management and nothing this took place at Target in Plaza Bonita, in Bonita, CA , from the comments I've read here some people took it back without the box or receipt they didnt want to take mine back so I felt discriminated by target employees, not buying at Target anything again ever!!
Only put in 1 star cause you can't rate zero stars

After I got it home I quickly noticed a horrible taste to the water, a sort of plasticky taste. I used up half a bottle of water thinking it might go away. I made orange juice and it didn't cover up the taste. Finally I ran dilute bleach water through twice, letting it sit for hours at a time and rinsing plenty afterwards. Also scrubbed the "probe" part and ran it through the dishwasher. Now the bad taste is gone and I'm ecstatic! Didn't want the hot water at first but it's nice for green tea (~180 degrees). I'm glad it turned out for the best.

Same problem as others have reported... poor taste. My girlfriend and I haven't felt 'normal' and I thought I'd look into the cooler, given the poor taste. The cooler is also unacceptably noisy. The special bottle cap that's required isn't noted on the box either. Too bad this was the only cooler offered at my local Target. Target should remove this from all of their stores and Black & Decker should remove their name from the product. Primo should stop producing this garbage or revisit their QA.

BAD TASTING WATER

I ,like all of the others who have reviewed the water cooler, went through the same procedures. I tasted the water and it was terrible. The taste seemed to linger for hours after tasting or drinking the water. I drained and cleaned with Vinegar numerous tImes. Yesterday after drinking a small cup and experiencing stomach problems ,I decided to look into the situation. I did call Target first and they said to call Black and Decker who informed me that the water cooler is actually a PRIMO product. I called Primo and reported my concerns. They said to return the cooler and apologized for any inconvenience. I am upset that i did not do it sooner. The waters taste was so bad that it caused me some upset stomachs and some seroius bad taste in my mouth. I think this cooler should not be available to the public until they get the issues resolved. I hope the water in no way is "toxic". My stomach hasn't been the same since drinking this water. Even in small doses, it tasted like plastic/rubber or whatever

All of the reviews about the water tasting like plastic are true. I wish I had read the reviews here first before buying this. We thought it was the new plastic bottle that was bad and put in a new one. The water tasted fine at first, but now it's so disgusting and leaves a lingering taste in your mouth. Back to Target it goes! [...]
