Son safe in accident

After months and months of researching car seats, I decided that the boulevard was the best decision. once installed, the seat took up quite a bit of space. But we dealt with it knowing are son was in one of the safest seats available. This was only confirmed when we had a an accident in which are car was totaled. We were rear ended while at a complete stop. The driver of the other car admits he was going over 60 miles an hour. The whole back end was smashed all the way to the back seat. I sadly did not use the tether while my son was rear facing. The car seat completely rebounded. When the car came to a stop, the car seat along with my son were completely up against the vehicle seat. However, My son avoided injury because the head wings broke the impact against the seat. I'm so thankful I bought this seat..The insurance refunded us the full amount for the seat. Britax also offered to replace the seat, but we sent it in for free so that they could study it. We were so impressed by the seats performance in the crash that we replaced it with the same model. If you buy this seat, please don't forget to attach the versa tether.

My daughter is worth $300.

We recently purchased the Boulevard for my 9 month old. I have done months of research on car seat safety, including the benefits of extended rear-facing (keeping kids rear facing past 12 months, to the limits of the seat), and extended harnessing (5 point harness after 40 pounds). It is absolutely safer to do both. Forward facing at 20 pounds and 12 months and a booster seat at 30-40 pounds is a MINIMUM, not a requirement.
[...]
My daughter will be in a 5 point harnessing seat as long as physically possible whether she thinks it's "cool" or not. After outgrowing her Boulevard, she will move into a Britax Regent. I would like to clarify another post which said the Regent is a booster seat. It is not. It is a 5 point harnessing, forward facing only car seat for up to 80 pounds. Please go to YouTube and find "Belle's Gift" and "Kyle David Miller" for more information. You'll never look at a booster seat the same way again, I promise you.
The Boulevard allows both ERF and EH, as well as true side-impact protection (TSIP). I could care less if my daughter is not able to get a good view of the road while in her seat. I would much rather hear her cry and complain than plan her funeral and live the rest of my life knowing I did not do all I could to keep her safe in the car. Did you know that car accidents are the number one killer of children in America?
The Boulevard is a wonderful seat, worth every penny. The cover is washable and very soft. It has an adjustable harness, meaning you turn a knob rather than rethreading the straps as your child grows. I can get the straps at the right height really quickly, every time I need to. We have it installed with LATCH, but even with a seat belt, it is very easy. Also the 'big Britax' (Blvd, Marathon and Decathalon) allow for tethering while rearfacing. This is a great safety feature. Should the seatbelt or LATCH fail during an accident, it provides an added measure of keeping your child's seat from being ejected. Whichever seat you choose, please make sure you get it checked by a CERTIFIED carseat tech. Most police officers and firemen are NOT certified. Ask first. I had the experience of having an ex-certified officer tell me my seat was safely installed when it actually was not. A current certification by a dedicated tech is essential to getting the best possible chance that you are keeping your precious child(ren) safe in the car.
Life is short, buy the car seat.

Pricey, but Strongly Recommend!

I purchased & returned 2 seats(Eddie Bauer & Alpha Omega Elite) before purchasing this Britax. I did not purchase this pattern, but I strongly recommend the Boulevard. I love numerous features on this seat. There are 4 major factors that "sold" me on this:
1- This seat has a LATCH restraint belt on EACH side (on other seats the 1 Latch restraint belt runs under the seat padding, this one has 2 & does not go underneath the padding), THIS MADE IT SUPER EASY TO INSTALL!
2- The seat was deep enough that my 6 month old son's head & body did not fall forward after falling alseep.
3- This seat reclines further back than any other seat I have seen. Plus after istalling the seat, it still looks reclined.
4- I drive a Honda Accord(4 door) & after securely installing the seat with the LATCH sytem, it was almost IMPOSSIBLE to budge the seat! On the previous 2 seats that I returned, after tightening the LATCH system I could still move the seats extremely too much!
I know it is a expensive purchase, but to me & my husband it was worth the extra $100 or so to ensure my son will not be sliding around in the back seat!

The boulevard was pricey but definitely worth it. My husband and I made an appointment at the local CHP office as they install your carseats as a courtesy. After having it installed my husband read through the directions and found that the officer had installed it incorrectly. So if you take yours to be installed, make sure they are certified or double check the installation with the directions provided.

Bought this seat a year ago for my first child shortly after she turned 1 year. After a lot of shopping around, reviewing products, and also comparing this car seat to other makes/models--my husband and I realized that this is the SAFEST and BEST buy out there. Michaela wasn't heavy enough to put her front facing quite yet... and I was at first nervous that the seat (front-facing or rear-facing) wouldn't fit in my Nissan Sentra based on what I had read from other ppl - but found that it wasn't even a problem for my family. She fits perfectly in seat, and the seat fits perfectly in my small car! She has Plenty of head room and room behind the seat - even when my 6'3" husband is in the front seat!! Note: Mic is now 33 inches tall and 23 lbs (22 months old). We have owned the Britax for almost a year now. With no reservation, my husband and I will purchase another Boulevard for our second daughter, Kyra. Myself, I'm use to pulling out carseats from my car - and taking out the convertible for me is definately not a chore. Its very easy for me to manage. And I'm 5'2" and 100 lbs... I don't think you will be disappointed with this purchase.

I had a graco car seat at first, but my daughter's head would flop forward ... I was afraid she'd suffocate! This car seat was expensive, true. But it's like the "caddilac" of car seats. It is huge but it's for the baby's safety and comfort. My daughter is very tall for her age and she's 15 months old and can still sit rear-facing for even more protection! I would not hesitate to purchase this car seat again and I'm sorry they weren't around when my twins were young enough to fit into car seats!
Buy this seat!

I bought this car seat before my son grew out of his infant carrier. His infant seat was a Graco and his head would sling forward when he fell alseep and I wanted him to be comfortable and well protected in his new seat. Britax has rave reviews and I can see why. Installation is simple and the seat is so nice and comfy and offers a side impact head rest which I think is so important. This car seat also offers replacement covers which is almost unheard of for other car seat brands. We thought that my car would be the only one to have a pricier car seat since our son rides in my car more and then we would purchase a cheaper one for my husbands car but we love Britax so much we are buying a second one for his car.

I BOUGHT THIS CAR SEAT 2 YEARS AGO WHEN IT WAS CALLED THE WIZARD. I HAVE 3 KIDS AND THEY ALL FIT IN MY VERY SMALL FORD FOCUS! I PUT THE CAR SEAT IN THE CENTER OF THE BACK SEAT AND ONE KID ON EACH SIDE. MY 2 YEAR OLD LOVES THIS SEAT. HE CAN FALL ASLEEP COMFORTABLY AND I KNOW HE'S SAFE.
I RECENTLY WAS IN AN ACCIDENT AND HIT FROM BEHIND. MY SON DID NOT EVEN FEEL THE IMPACT. MONEY WELL SPENT!!

UNSAFE CAR SEAT

DO NOT BUY THIS UNSAFE CAR SEAT!! My 2 1/2 year old son can reach down and loosen the shoulder harness to the point where if we were in a head on collision he would fly thru the front window. When we called Britax the rep said she could send out a plastic attachment that would work until he figures this out. My wife told her this was completely unacceptable and she stated that no car seat is completely safe. UNBELEIVABLE!! Im calling the CEO, and the Government.
