My wife loves the camera. It's perfect for just about everything. The only thing I believe is wrong is the pricing differential. Target is affliated with Amazon.Com, but somehow the diffence between Target at $ and at $ is unreasonable. I didn't find out about this until after the fact. Target would not settle for a cheaper, more competitive price regardless of the affliation nor other competitors pricing.

First, I believe that Cool Scotty is referring to a different camera as the XSI is labeled as a 12.2 mega pixel and is a 12.2 mega pixel not to mention a surprisingly long battery life. Having that been said I doubt that anyone would be disappointed in this camera; there are few cameras at this price point which offer as much. If you want a DSLR and you aren't planning on using it as a professional camera the XSI is a great camera that equal many that are twice the price.

First, let me address that whatever camera COOL SCOTTY is referring to, it is NOT the Canon XSi.
This camera has 12.2 MP. The 18-55 lens is sturdy in build, as is the camera.
For those of you who are familiar, you can shoot RAW files, as well as JPEG. You can shoot one or the other, or opt to shoot both RAW and JPEG at the same time.
RAW is a larger sized file, which also enables you to tweak your photos using Photoshop or any other photo editing software.
This camera is quite easy to use. I upgraded to the XSi last year after a few years with the Canon Rebel XT.(another great camera!)
The XSi has an easy to operate Menu and Buttons. It's lightweight, and not too large. (I have VERY small hands, and this camera works well for me.)
I shoot wildlife photography, and am happy that I can switch settings quickly do to lighting, etc.
Photos are crisp, and clear. Nice noise reduction features, as well as an ISO up to 1600 (for low light).
You won't be disappointed with the XSi. It delivers.

I recntly bought this camera for my son for Christmas. Expecting it to be a good camera for the price, I was wrong. The camera eats up the battery like a monster, you have to charge it every, 30 minutes, also, it is not 10 megapixels, it is actually 6 mega pixels because on the box for the camera it says it is 6 megapixels. if you buy it, do NOT touch the lens because they wii crack even if you tap it. So please don't buy this.

I agree with two other reviewers in saying the "Cool Scotty" is absolutely NOT talking about this camera, and clearly posted in the wrong place. I took this camera out to Yellowstone National Park and took two full days of pictures on a single battery charge. It was well over 1,000 shots that I took. Granted, none of pictures required a flash, but overall I've noticed that the actual battery life is higher than what it's rated at. I took 2,632 pictures over 6 days, and had to re-charge only twice (3 full charges). Picture quality is phenomenal. Also, you can get shots with this camera that not only can a point-and-shoot not come close to replicating, but older model higher-end SLRs can't either. The XSi (just to confirm that I'm reviewing the right camera...) is one of the best purchases I've ever made.
