I don't usually go and write reviews, but in this case I'll make an exception for the good of prospective purchasers.
This table looks beautiful when you get it and put it together (besides some minor wear spots in the finish corners/edges) and feels sturdy and well made... Until you finish putting it together and unfold the leaf, which is attached to a swivel in the table (so you can't return the individual defective piece). The hinges peel the surface of the wood across all 3 hinges in the leaf table top, which runs right through the center of the table and makes it unavoidable to the eye.
Don't think mine is the only one.. We took the table back to the store (which was only available in the next town) after deconstructing it and got a new one. As soon as we got home and unfolded the leaf in the next table it was the same thing! So we packed it all up again and took it back AGAIN..
I wish I had read these other reviews to see so many people having the same problem and had saved hours upon hours of hassel. There must've been many people with these complaints, spending countless hours sorting this out. I now have to figure out how to return the chairs I ordered online that were unavailable in stores. I wish this product would get recalled so no more people have to waste time on an obviously flawed product that has numerous complaints!

My wife and I bought this table and 6 chairs to go with it and we get compliments every time we have people over. The size and durability of this table is great. I'm 6'7" and I can sit comfortably at this table. We maintain it by using table clothes, place mats and coasters and we've never had any problems with scratches, dents, ring marks, etc. It's easy to put together, but make sure you have help carrying it. When thinking about price and quality we feel like we couldn't have done better.

I needed a dining table badly since I was cooking my first Thanksgiving this past year and had no table to put the meal on! I don't know how I went so long without a dining table. I bought this for a great sale price, and the table was so easy to put together. The leaf works great although I don't need it much since only my boyfriend and I eat on it. I love the color. It is not misleading online. It is a tall table, so you're going to need tall chairs. I noticed some people had a hard time finding matching chairs. I bought a pair of the Carlyle Stool set of 2 in Cappuccino, and they work great with the table. They were also on sale. They were a bit more difficult to put together. I ended up putting one chair frame upside down, and you don't realize it until the end, so then I had to start all over. As long as you follow the directions though, it's pretty easy, just lengthy. I am extremely pleased with my purchases, and I find these reviews really helpful.

The slightest weight (an empty wine glass for pete's sake) leaves an indentation in the top. Can't get it wet b/c it leaves rings, and wiping it down scratches it. I am so mad about this table. I'll have to keep it covered the whole time, and that defeats the purpose. Don't do it.

Ok, admittedly, it is my own fault that when I got this table I didnt bother to see if the leaf would work...silly me all I had to do was attach the legs so I thought it couldnt be bad. WRONG! I have had the table a few months and finally decided I needed to extend it out with the leaf...problem is only one side of the table will move, which means I cant use the leaf. I asked the store what I can do with it...guess what they said nothing. Its a nice table (a bit wobbly) but I would have gotten something else had I known the problems.

Please note - This item is displayed in my local Target store for cheaper on clearance. However, they reported that there is no stock on the item and suggested that I purchase it online. Online, the item is much costlier and Target will not honor the price in the store.

[...] I had the same shipping problems as others where the 1st table we put together and flipped it over to find huge gashes in the top. Arrghh! Then the 2nd table still had a small dent in the side but we kept it anyway [...] However, the table is a DUST magnet and like others say, you can't wipe it down! It leaves smudges and scratches and looks great from far away but TERRIBLE up close. DO NOT USE [liquid dusters]! I did that this weekend and it is ruined! You can see the wood lines coming thru now. I have to get a cover and I wanted the table for the nice color! SO SAD!! You should be able to WIPE YOUR TABLE OFF without RUINING IT! Don't BUY IT!!!!

I purchased this table in store back in August and haven't had any major problems. Looks GREAT but it is VERY HEAVY! I made the mistake of putting it together on my first floor because the box was too awkard to carry upstairs. BAD MOVE!

I will have to agree with one other reviewer: chairs are VERY hard to find! I bought some, they were too tall. Turns out, counter height (24" seat) are the rarest! We STILL don't have chairs!

Also, be very careful when sliding the table out to put the leaf in. I cracked one side of the table by attempting to do this. Also, when moving the table, be very careful how you set the legs as they will crack easily as well.

Overall, the table is GORGEOUS, perfect height but probably wouldn't do good in a move and won't be a family heirloom ...

So, I was overly excited when I found this table tucked away in the back corner of my local Target for a woping....You ready for this......$! I couldnt believe my eyes. I sat there and read the box over 5 times before I even asked for help. BUT when I got it home, opened the box (in which all the hardware was scattered around in) I had to check the box over to find all the hardware. When I finally got the legs attached I flipped it over and it looked A-MA-ZING. Then, I attempted to show off the leaf feature to some visiting friends and the table started to fall apart! the screws that were holding up the leaf came out of there sockets and wood started to crack...It was a mess. The table overall is nice and very stylish, but if you are expecting something special out of the leaf I wouldnt recommend it. If your single or have a small family (4 or less), Its perfect.
