I'm really surprised at the bad reviews for this. I've had this steamer for about 2-3 years now and I've absolutely loved it, until this calcium build-up problem. I've tried various ways to decalcify (white vinegar, others) but I'm at the point of giving up and just buying a new one. However, I've had this for quite a while and am just at this point now, so it's been a really good run. If people are frustrated with performance they might want to look at the material they're trying to press like linen or linen blends (can't even do those well with a regular iron). Good product though and would buy again...would give it 3 1/2 stars just because I wish there was a better decalcifier than smelly white vinegar!

I bought this for my wedding dress and bridesmaid's dresses for my wedding. It was either buy this or spend [..] for a professional to steam that would take at least a month!
My girls helped me out, I had a white towel and rubber band to cover the nozzle to prevent water droplets. (I read online that this happens with most professional steamers.) We read the directions and kept the nozzle upright while we worked. We were able to steam my dress made of satin, three bridesmaid dresses, and my mother's chenille top! Everything worked well and it helped to make my wedding beautiful.

I just purchased this item today because it was on sale; I'm glad I didn't pay full price. I found that the water from the container leaks considerably and you end up with wet feet as you steam iron. Drops of HOT water also leak on your hands/arms! The amount of steam is productive--if you don't mind putting 10-15 minutes extra time on top of what it would have taken you to iron the darn thing in the first place. It does not leave a crisp crease, as with an iron. The whole appliance is so light-weight that if you try to move the stiff hose around to steam the sides or back of your garment, it tends to tip over. Otherwise, it works fine on fabric that can burn more easily with an iron: e.g., silk, rayon, cashmere, etc. So, if you have very quick reflexes and don't mind having wet feet and a semi-pressed garment, then this is the right item for you!

I just bought this today and am returning it tomorrow. I have been trying to press the same shirt for 15 minutes at least now. The head is leaking out burning hot water all over and when the cord bends (which is often) it makes an awful sound and the steam stops coming out. Just spend the extra money to buy a high end one.

I had a smaller steamer, got this connair deluxe and decided not to give my daughter the smaller one, but buy another of these for her use. I HATE to iron. This is a JOY! Lots of steam. Lots of saved time and OH WOW, what a beautiful job on all our clothes. Stretchy tops, sequins, painted on artwork comes out so nicely! Takes little time to be ready to use and the tank of water lasts 1 1/2 hours, more than ample!! Go for it, you won't be sorry.....and it's less than the little one price wise!

In addition to the ease of use difficulties mentioned by other reviewers, mine actually broke completely! The machine just suddenly stopped working- and I've only used it about 4 times. Beware.

i gave it a try after reading the good reviews not minding the bad ones but it dissapointed me. the cord bends easily. it makes noises when it bends and the steam will go off.its time consuming because you have to change gadgets with each garment to steam the edges and the whole part of it.you may not do it but you just cant steam the edges of your collar, sleeve and bottom part of your shirt.
you may hold it but your hands will be burnt with the steam.the good side your clothes dont get burned and stick like when using iron steamers.in fairness if you're patient enough it works. it removes the creases of the garment. im back to the old way of ironing my clothes which makes my ironing quicker and safer. i've wasted money for it since i could not return it anymore.

I hated this steamer and it was worthless. It takes forever to heat up and then you have no control over when you get steam. You iron a few strokes and then it has to reheat so I am stuck waiting. The cord is thick and doesn't bend easy and the plastic garmet rack never stays in position and unfolds half the time. I originaly used my handheld Shark red steamer with the garmet attachment and loved it but wanted something just for clothing. This is not it.

I have had my steamer for 6 years now!!. Today I am buying one for a wed registry. Actually this has been the wedding present for all my relatives and close friends since I found it a great option rather than iron. Saves you time and keeps your clothes in great condition.

We bought this item using our wedding gift cert from Target in June 2007. We paid heavy shipping charge since this could only be an online order. We barely used it until X'mas time when we had to go to our company parties. We never have so many problems with any of our home appliances until we had this one.
This product leaks at the water storage on the bottom of the steamer which damaged our new hardwood floor; leaked steaming hot water at the steamer head on top; the handle was too hot to be held; the clothes would fall of the built-in hanger when using, the hose could NOT be turned around when trying to steam the back of the clothes; and the machine would constantly idle...
