Glad I bought these

Reviewer:  Chellie "MH"  (Maryland)  See all my reviews

I read the reviews before purchasing these and decided to get them. I am a black female and wasn't too sure these would work for me b/c I have thick hair even after it is relaxed. I prefer using them over using a flat iron. My curls stay in all day and I can use them everyday or other day and not damage my hair.

very nice for the price

[...] I've had hot curlers in the past and loved em, but never had a conair and it works pretty well. I was skeptical about it getting hot enough, but it heats up great/fast and is a nice alternative to direct heat from a curling iron. I was tired of my hair getting fried. I have thick hair that's mid-length so I need more heat and this hot curler sets my hair just right. My Mom has fine asian hair and it works fabulous on her too, because of the different heat settings. Some people have complained about their curls not staying in. I usually take a spray bottle and fill it with water and lightly spray the ends of my hair - so it's just slightly damp [don't saturate] and then curl it. Curls stay in all day, without a problem. A little moisture is the trick and sets my hair like I went under the dryer. The clips can pull your hair, just be careful because they fit very tightly around the curlers. All in All this is a great hairsetter for the price and gets hotter then those that cost more. I just bought this, so I can't comment on life of the product - but I definitely recommend it. [...]

I love these!

I got these curlers and they are AWESOME! The only thing that I had a problem with is when I cut my hair they wouldn't curl my hair anymore. My hair isn't really that short. Other than that I LOVE them!

Wonderful..

Ok, I bought these, because I had purchased the Conair Jumbo roller set and they worked soo good. So even though at first I was skeptical about purchasing these ((just like the other set)), but when I got this set, I tried it and loved it! It gave me beautiful, shiny curls. They were easy to roll ((although sometimes it does burn your fingers a little, but it doesn't bother me too much)) and I love the clips ((although, the first time I ever used them in the other set they didn't quite work, so it takes some practice)), so I don't know what the negative reviews are about, maybe the reviewers didn't roll them in right or something.. anyway, the only thing that bothers me about this set is the buzzing noise and when they heat up they don't smell quite the same as the other set I have, but oh well ((probably has something to do with the buzzing)).. all in all, this is worth your money and a good roller set to have.

Okay, from what I could tell...

Reviewer:  Lissa  (Indianapolis, IN)  See all my reviews

The set up is great, the container is perfect and does keep the rollers warm, so my issue is with the "clips." They are not clips at all, more like pieces of wire. They were impossible to get on and once I did, it had pulled most of the hair that was in the roller out and then when I let go, the whole thing dropped down to the middle of my face. For the price, I would expect a better system for holding the curler in place. I returned them the same day I bought them. But in all fairness, from the 3 I got in before I became so frustrated that I turned it off, my hair did curl.

Great for African American Hair

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE these rollers. I was very skeptical about buying these b/c I did not know how they would work with my hair texture, but they are far better than I ever could have imagined. No frizz..............just bouncy, shiny, long-lasting curls.

African American hair

I LOVE this product. It works for normal, thick, shoulder length hair. I can't speak for incredibly long hair, but for the tight curls (small rollers) or doobie curl (bigger rollers) it's just what I needed. A whole lot better than putting direct heat from a curling iron on my hair. It doens't leave my hair frizzy and the curls stay all day long. It's fast and my rollers can get extremely hot, I leave them in while I get dressed for at least ten minutes so it can hold the curls. I wouldn't trade it for the world!

Great, but malfunctioned after minimal use.

Reviewer:  Char  (Beavercreek, OH)  See all my reviews

First, if my review was on the product when working properly, I would definitely give it five stars. It's the first set of curlers I've ever had which doesn't tangle my long, thick, fine hair. The spring clips are so great and easy to use. The two door design helps keep the rollers you are not using hotter.

However, I don't know if Conair has a system wide quality control problem or not. After only minimal use, this unit began to arc on the end of the unit. (Electricity jumping between two separated points on the end of the unit) It sounds like a fly zapper when it's doing it. The unit is still useable when this happens, but my husband, the electrical engineer, says this is dangerous and that I should not use it.

Additionally, I have a Conair hair dryer, which has also started arcing. Company quality control problem?

In fairness, the company offered to replace it, if I sent it back, but I never got around to it. I loved this set so much, I'll probably try another one, but keep your receipt!

Fantastic...

Of all the hair setters I've tried this is definitely one of my favorites. The fabric that lines these curlers doesn't grab or tear your hair and (unless you grab onto the metal part, which obviously you shouldnt do on ANY curler) will not burn your hands or hair. I used a little hairspray after use, but my curls lasted until I brushed my hair out, so I'm not sure why others had a problem with this. Anyway, I highly recommend these; they're much better than a lot of curling sets out today.
