I too have this set and have noticed the black scratches. This IS NOT as durable as the corelle dishes you may be used to! The plates have also started fading; I have owned the set for about 45 days. I paid 69.99 plus tax at my local Target...I purchased two set because we entertain a lot. I could not be more disappointed in these dishes. I too contacted World Kitchens. They also instructed me on how I could get rid of the black scratches. They also want to know what dishes the fading has happened on. It has happened on many! At this point, I want the dishes off my hands and the old corelle ones back!

Love the design and squareness of the product. Note that the mugs are porcelain. That may be a plus because after one use of the plates, they have grey silverware marks on the design part. I contacted Corelle who said they could be removed by using Bon-Ami or Bar Keepers Friend non-abrasive cleaner. Currently I am trying to rub them out. Corelle is sending replacement plates. Hopefully it won't happen on others!

I was never a fan of Corelle, because they are so thin and cheap looking. But as soon as I saw these, I loved them. The colors coordinate perfectly with my newly painted kitchen/family room. They fit great in the cabinets. My only disappointment is that there are no coordinating pieces to go with them. I'll have to find accessories and color-match or do all white.

I have always loved corelle. I love the new designs, and shapes! I would like to be able to buy matching serving pieces though! A matching plater at least.

I have always used corelle. They are made, basically, of crushed glass. You can eat off them and keep foods warm without fear of leaking lead or other chemicals. They are lightweight. My mother had COPD for many, many years, and we discovered that corelle dishes were easier for her to handle because they are so lightweight. The square sets are modern and fun to use.
