Cranium Cariboo is my sons favorite game. He got it when he was 2 1/2, and he is still playing it now at age 4. It has two levels, so as your child gets older you can increase the difficulty. This game teaches colors, letters, shapes, and numbers, and at the same time it is a lot of fun. My son loves to use the key to open the boxes and he feels a big sense of accomplishment when he opens the treasure. My 18 month old is starting to take interest in the game too. If you're looking for a fun, educational game for young kids, this is the game for you.

I'm a speech-language pathologist, and the kids I work with love using this game. After they do some therapy work I give them the key as a reward or have them follow my directions to find the door they can open (by describing "find the one that..." or with spatial concepts "go to the door at the bottom all the way to the left"). I also work on quantity concepts with the cards and by having the kids tell me "full/empty" when they open the doors. The other cars are great for phonological awareness (e.g. what start with letter A). I can use this with 3 year olds straight through to my older students, just by adapting the rules to the game. This is definitely a classroom favorite.

I gave this to my 2 & 4 year old. They really enjoy it. It only takes 10-15 minutes to play a round, which is nice. It holds both kids attention. They learn colors, shapes & counting. Along with simple hand/eye coordination. This isn't a complex game so I have yet to see if the kids get bored with it. The first time we played 4 rounds. The cards could be a little less flimsy, but other than that it is made well. Overall a unique and fun game for preschoolers, plus they learn--bonus.

Santa brought this for our 4yo and 2 1/2 yo sons. They both love it, but the 2 1/2yo can't get enough of it. The concept is very simple, but it's fun and exciting to find balls behind the doors and then open the treasure chest. The game helps teach and reinforce color, shape, letter and number recognition as well as counting and even reading skills. I've already recommended it to all my friends with young kids.

My four year old daughter received this game for Christmas and she LOVES it. I have to say, I enjoy it too... at least it isn't mind numbing like other children's games. She even takes it to daycare with her to share and the children always ask her to bring it back again.
The multiple difficulty levels is a great way to keep kids entertained and challenged.
The only part I don't like is when she takes the balls out and one gets misplaced, but what are you going to do?

At 4, my daughter LOVES to play board games. We played this over at a friend's and I went out and bought it the next day. It's fun, educational, and saves me from playing Candyland all the time! My daughter loves using the key to open the boxes and loves getting the treasure. Excellent game.

We have had Cariboo for many years and our oldest kids (6&8) still love to play it. Our jewel inside the treasure chest broke, so now we put in a small piece of candy for each player and everyone gets a piece!! I plan on buying one for my nephews for Christmas this year!

My 2 and 3.5 year olds love this game. The 2 year old is a little rough with it, so I have to watch her, but otherwise, we have fun playing with it, and it's very educational. It even has advanced cards so after they master the beginner, they can still play with it.
This game will last a long time... it's well worth the money!
