DO NOT BUY

Reviewer:  Happy Girl! "Vanilla S"  (Minnesota)  See all my reviews

As a lot of the reviews have said, this is an extremely loud vacuum, it jerks around and it blows hot air out the backside of the vacuum. I used it on hardwood floors to vacuum up sawdust and it didn't work very well at all. The vacuum was just blowing out all the air and sawdust out the backside of the vac. I don't get why it has the air vent in the back, that totally defeats the purpose of a vac!

My purple Eureka a bigger price cordless vac from Target works much better than this dirt devil power stick. But, I'm still searching for something even better. The Eureka died in less than 3 years, so I'm sticking to vac's with cords! No more cordless vac's for me!

Dont waste your money!!

Reviewer:  Pixie "Mary C"  (California)  See all my reviews

I wish I had read reviews before purchasing it today. This vac is extremly loud! Vents on the side of the vac blow air out so hard that anything you're trying to pick up is quickly blown into the air only to settle again moments later. The motor is so powerful that it cut my hand because it jerked so hard as I was turning it on. This vac is horrible horrible horrible!

Good for the Price

Got it for Mom. She has flooring. Not much carpet. It has lasted 5 years now. Remember to ALWAYS empty filter container and clean out filter after each use. About to get one for the mother-in-law.

Power Stick??

Reviewer:  Young Lady "Lauren L"  See all my reviews

I bought this vaccum for my small apartment. This vaccum makes sooo much noise but hardly pick anything up. There is hardly and suction at all! I had to go over the same surface more than 5x's to pick up all the debris. This vaccum does work well on hardwood and tile though! You get what you pay for with this item.

Sounds like a Jet Engine

Reviewer:  Nick  See all my reviews

I gave this item three stars because it actually has good suction and will even clean the few rugs that we have on our hardwood. Of course, the price is right, but I still have to return it. It literally sounds like a Jet Engine. This is something to consider if you live in a home with lots of bare floors, which are often very echoey. My ears literally ring after I shut the thing off. It gets a great rating for functionality, but a zero for practicality.

Does not work

Reviewer:  Katie K  (Pottstown, PA)  See all my reviews

I bought this for the upstairs so I would not have to lug the regular vac upstairs all the time. It's a waste of money. It doesnt work like a normal vac, it only sucks up dirt in a small 1" maybe 2" area. It is way more work than it should be.

Worst Vacuum Ever

Reviewer:  Tasha  (Richmond, VA)  See all my reviews

This was my husband and I's first vacuum when we got married. I purchased it with the gift cards we received from our wedding, and thought it was a good find for the price, and would be great for our townhouse. It was horrible. The noise was incredibly loud, and it picked up hardly anything. I would go over small pieces of fragments on the carpet, and it would go right over it as if it weren't there. Although it was easy to assemble, and I dealt with it for the time being, it is now sitting solitarily in a corner of our house, while I whizz by with my newer (and much, much better Bissell Cleanview Vacuum). This may be good for someone who lives alone on a small island, because no one else could stand the noise of this thing. My husband has been trying to trash the vacuum behind my back for months now, but I'm trying to convince him that it's not a total loss, we can at least donate it to charity?

Don't waste your money on this one...

Works great for intended purpose

Reviewer:  Midwest Mom  See all my reviews

Just bought this last week. This is my third stick vacuum and it is the best so far for hard floors. (Has largest coverage with best suction.) You can't expect a vacuum without brushes to do much on carpeted surfaces, however I use it also on several types of carpet mats around the house without problem. Yes it is loud - somewhat resembling an aircraft readying for take off. (Actually similar to a shop vac.) If noise may be an issue you may want to look at another model. Noise trade-off is worth it to me.

Not THAT loud!

Reviewer:  Miss S "Miss S"  (Tennessee)  See all my reviews

When I read the reviews I was so confused. All the reviewers gave it one or five stars. A lot of people's main problem was the alleged loudness of the vacuum. I decided I could live with a little noise if the vacuum worked well. I just moved into a house and I plan to replace the carpet with bamboo hardwood. I don't want to have to buy another vacuum if I can avoid it. So needed something that will work on carpet and hardwood. When I got it home, I found it pretty easy to put together. I started it up pretty late at night, though I was a little bit worried that if it really did sound like a jet, as the reviewers had claimed, my neighbors would call the police. But that didn't happen. When I turned it on, guess what? It sounded EXACTLY like a vacuum cleaner! I don't know what people are talking about when they complain of the noise, but I can only think that they had a defective product, it was incorrectly assembled, or they were keeping it snapped in the upright position. It DOES make an ugly noise when upright. But who vacuums in that position anyway? Just turn it off before you put it upright and you won't have a problem.

I also did not have a problem with the fans blowing dirt around. Again for these complaints I suspect an improper assembly or manufacturing defect. Make sure your filter and cup are assembled correctly and pushed in ‘til it clicks.

There are two things that I didn’t like. One, the container is kind of small and fills up quickly, especially if you are cleaning up after a hairy dog. Two, if you have pet hair embedded into the carpet (for example, if said hairy dog loves to roll around on the carpet and it gets pushed down deep in the carpet) it can be hard to get up. What you do in that situation is roll over it slowly a few times. It will eventually come up. You can also get a carpet brush meant for pet hair to loosen it up, then vacuum. It just takes a little time and if you do that once, then keep up with it vacuuming regularly, you won’t have a problem. For hairy dog situations, you also need to check the openings for clogging every now and then. But you should probably do that anyway with any vacuum.

I’ve been using it over six months now and the embedded dog hair is the main problem. But this vacuum was not intended for such issues. It really is more of a sweeper and it works beautifully on tile.

I do recommend this vacuum, especially if you want a multipurpose sweeper for tile or hardwood surfaces. It is a little too light for heavy carpet use. But if you are willing to do a little extra work it should be okay.

Very Poor... Don't buy this!

Reviewer:  A. Rodmyre  (Fort Myers, Florida)  See all my reviews

Real Name

Everyone should know what a terrible vacuum this is... the suction does not work on the wings, only in the very center. Imagine trying to vacuum a living room with a 1 inch wide vacuum, and you'll know how frustrating this thing is. For the same money, I was much happier with my old
Eureka (although, it fell apart after 2 years of daily use).
