Very LOUD! July 21, 2006 Reviewer:  Busy Mom (East Coast, USA)  See all my reviews >

This is definitely a very light weight vaccum. My son will love using it, if he can get over the extremely LOUD squeal that comes out of it. It also puts out a very forceful amount of air in the back of the vaccum. As for suction, it's VERY STRONG. You can't vaccum a bathroom rug with it because it tries to eat it. So, if you are looking for a light wt. vac. that will be good for the kitchen and bathroom floors/rugs...i wouldn't recommend this one. I think it'd be great for a small apartment dweller without kids or pets with sensitive ears.

Not THAT loud! January 19, 2009 Reviewer:  Miss S "Miss S" (Tennessee)  See all my reviews >

When I read the reviews I was so confused. All the reviewers gave it one or five stars. A lot of people's main problem was the alleged loudness of the vacuum. I decided I could live with a little noise if the vacuum worked well. I just moved into a house and I plan to replace the carpet with bamboo hardwood. I don't want to have to buy another vacuum if I can avoid it. So needed something that will work on carpet and hardwood. When I got it home, I found it pretty easy to put together. I started it up pretty late at night, though I was a little bit worried that if it really did sound like a jet, as the reviewers had claimed, my neighbors would call the police. But that didn't happen. When I turned it on, guess what? It sounded EXACTLY like a vacuum cleaner! I don't know what people are talking about when they complain of the noise, but I can only think that they had a defective product, it was incorrectly assembled, or they were keeping it snapped in the upright position. It DOES make an ugly noise when upright. But who vacuums in that position anyway? Just turn it off before you put it upright and you won't have a problem.

I also did not have a problem with the fans blowing dirt around. Again for these complaints I suspect an improper assembly or manufacturing defect. Make sure your filter and cup are assembled correctly and pushed in ‘til it clicks.

There are two things that I didn’t like. One, the container is kind of small and fills up quickly, especially if you are cleaning up after a hairy dog. Two, if you have pet hair embedded into the carpet (for example, if said hairy dog loves to roll around on the carpet and it gets pushed down deep in the carpet) it can be hard to get up. What you do in that situation is roll over it slowly a few times. It will eventually come up. You can also get a carpet brush meant for pet hair to loosen it up, then vacuum. It just takes a little time and if you do that once, then keep up with it vacuuming regularly, you won’t have a problem. For hairy dog situations, you also need to check the openings for clogging every now and then. But you should probably do that anyway with any vacuum.

I’ve been using it over six months now and the embedded dog hair is the main problem. But this vacuum was not intended for such issues. It really is more of a sweeper and it works beautifully on tile.

I do recommend this vacuum, especially if you want a multipurpose sweeper for tile or hardwood surfaces. It is a little too light for heavy carpet use. But if you are willing to do a little extra work it should be okay.

Great Vaccuum for Tile Floors October 27, 2006 Reviewer:  B. Smith Real Name (93277,Ca)  See all my reviews >

I have searched and purchased many vaccuums to clean my tile floors and grout. This is the perfect item. It is loud but that is not a big deal. If it isn't loud it isn't on in my opinion. Very simple to use and it is light!! The filter is simple to clean as well. I tap the excess and use a wire brush to scrub the lint, cat hair, etc out of the filter. It is good on carpet. Works much better on tile in my opinion but for that last minute guest, you can grab this out of your linen closet. Hangs well in a closet too!

It broke as soon as I started to put it together! August 23, 2006 Reviewer:  M. Aguilar "The Incredible Shrinking Woman" Real Name See all my reviews >

All I did was open the box and attached the stick to the handle. The doodad that was supposed to click into place broke as soon as I slipped it in. To make sure it wasn't me I tried the other side and it worked perfectly fine. If the thing was going to start falling apart even before I used it I didn't want to find out what it would do as soon as I turned it on!

Nice little vacuum June 8, 2007 Reviewer:  Kari Girl (Minneapolis, MN)  See all my reviews >

First of all, everyone who gave this vacuum 1 star, maybe you should have spent a little more than this price on a vacuum cleaner. Especially if you have children and dogs.

Secondly, I would like to say that this vacuum cleaner does a nice job. Yes, it is a bit loud, but you get what you pay for. It sucked up an unbelievable amount of cat hair, cat litter, dust, and crumbs. I was pretty impressed. I live in a small studio apartment and it's size is perfect. Not to mention I live on a very tight budget and it does a pretty okay job for being a 35 dollar vacuum cleaner. I hate to see all the bad reviews because it really is not a bad vacuum cleaner. The person who couldn't suck up a crumb must have had something wrong with theirs. It sucks up a lot. It even worked really well on my tile bathroom floor and my linoleum kitchen floor.

For the price it does its job!

waste of money January 2, 2007 Reviewer:  Mim "Mim" (Ohio)  See all my reviews >

As the other reviewers stated, this product is worthless. I am also a pet owner and bought this product for pet hair clean ups on hardwood/marble floors. It doesn't pick up the hair let alone the kitty litter. Poor suction, bad design, more work than a swiffer.

WASTE OF MONEY December 22, 2006 Reviewer:  disappointed customer See all my reviews >

I too am a pet owner and bought this vacuum to use everyday to pick up dog hair on my wood floors. But when you turn the thing on, it's exhaust air is so powerful that it blows everything on the floor up in the air. I end up having to vacuum the room 2 to 3 times to get all of the dirt/hair that was blown around. And it is so loud that I can't stand to use it for more than a couple minutes at a time. It is useless. If I had my receipt, I'd have returned it too.

DO NOT BUY May 24, 2009 Reviewer:  Happy Girl! "Vanilla S" (Minnesota)  See all my reviews >

As a lot of the reviews have said, this is an extremely loud vacuum, it jerks around and it blows hot air out the backside of the vacuum. I used it on hardwood floors to vacuum up sawdust and it didn't work very well at all. The vacuum was just blowing out all the air and sawdust out the backside of the vac. I don't get why it has the air vent in the back, that totally defeats the purpose of a vac!

My purple Eureka a bigger price cordless vac from Target works much better than this dirt devil power stick. But, I'm still searching for something even better. The Eureka died in less than 3 years, so I'm sticking to vac's with cords! No more cordless vac's for me!

Piece of junk I'm stuck with April 16, 2007 Reviewer:  Reese'sMommy (Southern Minnesota)  See all my reviews >

I agree with all the other one star raters. We have a dog that sheds, hardwood floors, and a baby learning to crawl. This means I sweep/vacuum my floors daily. The wind that blows out the side is very frustrating, I find that I have to start in the very corner of the house and work across the floor very carefully, so that the "wind" stays behind the vacuum (blowing only on the already vacuum part of the floor). Of course, this is easier said than done - and should vacuuming your floor require that much forethought?
What really ticks me off is that only the middle of the "head" actually sucks up the dog hair. Not sure why they made that head so wide when only the middle (where the suction hose is) actually picks anything up. It is very loud, but I would be willing to live with that IF it worked well otherwise.
I had to use it a few times before I realized how much I hated it, by then I could not return it, as it is dirty now.

Way too Loud. January 4, 2007 Reviewer:  S. D. Eiting Real Name See all my reviews >

I agree with the two reviews above. I would like to add that the vac is painfully loud. I will be returning this vac as soon as possible.
