Disappointed!

I purchased in-store and took the cover out of its package to confirm that the design was black before purchasing other accessories. It looked black in-store, so I bought black accessories. I also tested it in-store to make sure that a patterned comforter would not show through.
When I got home and put everything together, the design definitely looked more brown and you could see right through it! I even double-checked the package and there was no mention of the design's color.

Just to follow up on someone else's comment.. The print on this is not black. It's a very dark brown bordering on the green side.
I still think this may work in my room but if you're looking for something that's black don't buy this bedding set.

I went into Target to buy the Kakai Leaves Duvet set from DwellStudio. When I picked that set up, I noticed this duvet set was marked clearance...[...]. I asked a sales associate why it was marked clearance and she said because they're replacing it with a comforter set. I couldn't pass it up even though I wasn't wild about a mostly white duvet. I'm glad I bought it! The quality seems really good and I LOVE the modern vibe of the design. I also love the sateen sheen the material has. Even though I'm still a little hesitant about washing the white/black material, I think I might get it professionally laundered so as not to take any chances with the white not coming out white after a while. I loved the set so much, I bought one more [...] to have as a second or to give as a gift.

I agree with the other reviewers, the trim on the duvet cover and pillow shams isnt the same yellow as the decorative pillow, but it still works! Take my word for it. As for the bed skirt, I bought a plain black one from target to match. It was only $18. I dont know why some people say their duvet cover pattern is dark browm and some say its dark green but the one I bought is definately black and white. I even took it outside to see it in the light. And, everyone else that sees it says its black and white too. So, maybe there are different versions, I dont know. But this is perfect and looks SO classy and modern.

I get so many compliments on this set. Really distinctive and I don't think it'll ever go out of style. Unbelieveable for the price. The coordinating pillow is great in that it's not too matchy-matchy. They are not super-soft like high-thread-count sheets, I use the shams as pillowcases (sleeping on the reverse side) and the difference is a little noticeable but not bothersome. There is a set of sheets and pillowcases with stripes that coordinate, they sell them in the store. The design is a very, very dark brown almost indistinguishable from black. I looked at them in every light when I got it home and really couldn't decide which it was. "The new black."

Uneven fading of the dark portions

Have to revise my earlier review. Although the pattern is great and the quality initially seemed pretty decent, the duvet emerged from its second wash with uneven fading of the dark portions of the design. Most of it stayed pretty dark (almost black), but one pretty big portion faded to a medium brown. This seems like a quality issue, and it's disappointing, because we were pretty happy with how nice we thought this was for the price. Have had similar problems with other Dwell Studio items, where the exact same thing happened: the black faded so badly after a wash or two that the pieces looked ancient and worn - they got returned.

I love this bedding! Combined with the black stripe sheet set and the co-ordinating peony pillow, these linens look and feel much more expensive than they are. Highly recommended.

I just discovered the Dwell Studio line today at my local Target and almost had to do a double take as I pushed my red cart down the isle. The Baroque Bedding Collection instanly caught my eye and after closer examinatin stole my heart when I saw the pale yellow trim on the duvet and shams. I brought it home and it looks DIVINE in my bedroom, of course with a couple of the coordinating yellow and gray peony throw pillows to match. What a fantastic color combination and so timely for spring! The fabrics are amazing and I was pleasantly surprised with the construction! I am so happy to have found such great quality for about a quarter of the price I usually pay for bed linens. I can't WAIT to see how the line evolves!

I just bought this set in store and it is beautiful. It is true white and black. The piping on the sides is barely noticeable. I paired it with the mint green bamboo sheets and the black quilt. The set looks great! It is so soft. Came out of the bag wrinkly, but that's to be expected. I would highly recommend this set
