I am interested in this travel system myself and had the same question regarding the extra base. I did some research and contacted a customer service representative for Eddie Bauer using their number from their website (1-800-426-8020) and was told that Dorel company manufactures the base and to call 1-800-544-1108 to get information regarding the extra base. I called Dorel company was informed you can order the extra base directly from the company. They required you to have purchased the system and you must provide the model # and manufactor date on the carseat when you order the base so they can ensure you purchase the proper base. I was told it was the "designer 22" base for the Adventurer Travel System and the cost including shipping is around few dollars.

My Husband and I are first time parents. Our little girl is 6 months old. We were hit from behind by a large Truck going around 50 miles an hour while stopped at a stop sign. My Little Girl was sound asleep let out one scream and went RIGHT back to sleep. She DID not MOVE!! Even though it broke the van seat She was unhurt and without a scratch. Even though the Buckles took some a little bit to get a handle on. we can now do it and Move the straps up with ease. All We had to do was read the directions. We are now thankful we went ahead and got this great system. We will be getting another one to replace the one that was in the wreck.

I am registered for this travel system and had the very same question that you had...I could not find anyone that carried just a infant seat base to go with this system. The trick is that the base is made a company named cosco, not eddie bauer. Therefore I could never find a retailer online. And no one could explain to me why Target sold the system and not the extra base. But they can be found at Toys R Us/Babies R Us for about a cheaper price. This is the only place I can find it. Just make sure you type in (cosco infant car seat base) on the toys r us website because, they do not carry eddie bauer products at all. Hope this helps =)

I have a 6 year old son and was able to use the Eddie Bauer system with him. I am pregnant again and received this after putting it on my registry. I love this system. Everyone that is complaining about the puzzle latch system and moving the straps is just too lazy to read the dang on directions. Of course the seat is heavier then Graco because it is an infant AND toddler car seat 2 for the price of 1. And if you are not used to carrying a car seat of course it may seem heavy. If you are having issues with the base in your car try asking someone else to put it in your car or try reading the directions to make sure your doing it right, they offer car seat classes at Babies R Us and other places look into that as well. Remember everyone that has a kid is not capable of caring for one and if you can't figure out how to use this Fantastic travel system you may be one of them. Who is honestly going to complain about something designed to keep your kid safe, not just try to get you for your money by selling you cheap materials. I mean it's not rocket science Read the Manual! Eddie Bauer is GREAT!!! I feel my sons have the best and this system is the best. who wants cheap lightweight quality? If you have a compact car or a small car the stroller may not fit in your truck but try cleaning your trunk out to make room. This is the BEST SYSTEM!!

I recieved this travel system as a baby shower gift and after reading some of the reviews I was quite concerned with several potential problems with the stroller and carseat. However, I have since been able to test out both quite extensively and this is what I have found.
1.) The stroller is VERY east to put together, literaly you just snap on the wheels and foot rest. My not-so-handy husband did it in less than 15 mins.
2.) the backrest does lay completely flat, and several times my baby has decided that was the best place for an afternoon nap. (we did have to reposition one bolt to allow this but after reading the directions and looking at the pictures we learned that it was placed in the wrong position when it was put together at the factory). A friend with teh same stroller did not have this issue.
3.) It is sturdy and easy to manuver, and take in and out of the car to the stroller. And the straps are also easy to adjust.
I will say that I work in daycare and am very accustomed to childrens equipment and the hardest thing for me to get used to with this system, is that Eddie Bauer has made everything so easy. At first I kept looking for tiny red buttons, and hard to adjust components, but that si so not the case with this system. I love it and have since suggested it to all the new parents I meet!

I initially bought the Baby Mesa Travel System and was quite disappointed! I looked on Target.com and bought it because it had a 4 star review. It's wheels fell off, there were plastic bolts and screws, and it felt cheap. I returned it immediately. It was a nightmare, I couldn't take my baby anywhere. I bought this travel system and it saved my life!!! It is a quality stroller and it is worth every penny! Target actually has it on discount because other places sell it for $ and better. It has sturdy METAL bolts and screws, quality beautiful cloth and functional cup holders, basket and mini snap drawer for little "knick-knacks". It is so worth it to buy this stroller and car seat. The car seat was easy to adjust for my long baby.

Yes. The paperwork inside the box has an order form to order an additional base. You can specify the color, but if they don't have it in stock you get another color. I have grey but they sent me black. It didn't matter to me as it still works. I ordered an extra base in October and believe it was [Price] plus shipping. We purchased this system in July and have been very happy with it. I am online again to purchase it as a shower gift for my sister-in-law. The only complaint I have is that the stroller is large (takes up most of my trunk) and it is a bit heavy. But I think the stroller and carseat are heavier because they're made better/sturdier than the Graco we looked at.

in response to what some moms were saying about not being able to order an extra base- you can. on the back of the instruction sheet that comes with the system you can order replacements for all the parts. i too was looking into getting a second base.
i have no complaints about this system, it's beautiful and everything i thought it would be. i love that it stands on its own!

I really love this system. The stroller is easy to open and close. It has plenty of room in the basket, lot's of cup holders, and baby can lay flat if necessary. The only reason I can't give it 5 stars is because the carrier is a bit heavy, and the stroller is a bit heavy as well. I guess it's a good way to build muscles! Good for girl or boy!
