Kept my daughter safe in an unexpected crash

We bought this car seat when my daughter was around one. She is now 2 and it has lived through the torture of a toddler. My husband and my daughter were in a car accident last week. The accident was bad enough to release all the airbags and total our car. Our daughter was safe and sound. Not only was she okay, the car seat still looks perfect. She didn't even have a mark from the straps on her neck. Since you're not supposed to use a car seat after it has been in a crash, we will be buying the another one of the same. It exceeded my expectations and did what it is designed to do. Keep my little one safe.

I had researched convertable car seats for a while, since my (20 lb) 5 month old has outgrown his carrier car seat. It seems as though people have something negative to say about every car seat out there. So, I looked on consumerreports.org and the website made a good point. Every car seat must meet the same safety requirements. So, I decided to not spend a lot of money on a car seat. My son has been using this seat now for about a week. I haven't had any problems with his head falling forward while sleeping. Also, the straps have not gotten tangled yet. I guess my point is that spending a lot of money on a seat doesn't necessarily mean you are getting a much safer car seat, you might just be getting some conveniences.

We bought this seat as a secondary seat for my husband to use when taking my son to daycare. We thought we would be able to save a little but we will be returning the seat. My son is 9 months and grew out of his infant seat. We spent over a half hour trying to get the seat to fit properly into my husband's Camry. We used a towel to adjust the level and it still didn't seem secure enough. Additionally, the strap you pull to tighten the harness is troublesome. My husband has difficulty getting it tightened and my guess is it is catching on the towel we had to use to adjust the level or we have a defective one. In either case, it is going back as soon as possible. I would not recommend this seat. Invest in something higher quality.

My daughter is 18 months old, 21 lbs. and 30 inches tall. She was very uncomfortable in this thing. Her head flopped around when she fell asleep. Another problem was the strap between her legs. The edges of the 2 pieces that fit into the latch between her legs dug into her thighs--a problem that would have only gotten worse as she grew. They stick out to far. One thing that would have helped is if you could lengthen that strap another inch or 2. It's just a bad design.
The worst part was we couldn't get the seat to fit tightly in the car. It wasn't just a little loose. It flopped around quite a bit.
I agree with another reviewer who said the cup holder was useless. If you beathe too hard, it falls off the seat. Imagine the potential for messes.
We returned this seat and bought the Graco Nautilus 3-in-1 Carseat. It is fabulous.

Poorly designed head rest, crotch strap & buckle release.

This head rest is too thick. It thrusts your child's head forward while awake, and when they are sleeping there is just nothing you can do to keep their little heads up - not neck pillows, not rolled towels. I tried removing the padded cover, which I'm sure is NOT recommended, and that made it tolerable.
The crotch strap is not adjustable. My daughter only weighs 27 pounds with skinny legs and tiny hips, and already we have to be so careful to not pinch her legs in the buckles. There is nothing we can do except wrestle with it every time. I'm not sure we will actually be able to close the buckles by the time she's 40 pounds.
Lastly, it just takes a ridiculous amount of force to release the buckle.
If I had it to do over again, I would definitely purchase something else.

I bought this carseat for my daughter a few months before her 1st birthday and she's been using it for more than 2 years now and it has been great! I've read other reviews about how it was hard to install and how the baby looked uncomforable in the seat and I didn't have any of those issues. We've taken several long distance drives and my daughter is always able to sleep, play and watch her DVD player in her seat. The fabric is soft and comfy even after ALOT of washes (I'm kind of a neat freak). It's easy to fully unassemble this seat for washing and put it back together without the instructions. I don't have anything bad to say about this seat - it's been great! I'm just sorry that my daughter is about to outgrow it and I'll have to find a booster seat that she'll like...

Not Designed for Easy Rear Facing Installation
July 11, 2009

This car seat did not easily install in the rear facing position in our 2006 Hyundai Tuscon. We read the instructions (several times), we threaded the LATCH belt properly and aligned the seat as instructed. However, no matter how tight we pulled the LATCH system the seat would not properly secure. I even knelt in the seat (all 170lbs of me) while my husband tightened it.
The troubleshooting guide suggests placing a rolled towel under the front of the car seat to prevent "vehicle seat sloping so much that your infant is sitting upright" or in our case "face plants into the bench seat upon impact". After wedging the towel underneath and tightening the LATCH system while I was kneeling in the car seat, we were able to properly secure the seat. HOWEVER, now we must check the stability of the seat every time we use it. The manual does not indicate if the seat was crash tested using this towel configuration.
Do I think that a car seat should require a ROLLED UP TOWEL to work properly?????? No, unless a towel is included in the box with the seat.
Bottom Line: IMO, this seat is not made to install as rear-facing. The American Academy of Pediatrics reports that "New research indicates that toddlers are more than five times safer riding rear-facing in a car safety seat up to their second birthday." Article available online at AAP (search rear-facing car seat on their site). Will I deal with the TOWEL issue for two years? I think not. This seat is going back tomorrow.

I had no problems installing the carseat tightly and correctly, but the massive head pillow pushes my sons head forward. He looked very uncomfortable. He is 8 months old and 20 pounds. MAYBE the seat would be okay for a bigger kid, but I would NOT reccomend it at all for baby/small toddler. I wish I would have read these reviews before buying.

Sleek Look ~ Poor Design

This seat is Hot, but the design is Not! The shoulder strap design is not good. When you get one shoulder strap on the, and try to put the next one on. It pulls the other strap off the shoulder. In most car seats each shoulder strap is locked where it can not pull the opposite side. Then there is the buckle that is too close to the Childs skin. In more expensive seats there is protective material to keep away from the baby. We do not have latch in our Taurus; we had to use the lap belt. The seat does not get “level to ground.” I am really confused as to what seat to buy, they all have something undesirable!

Sadly, I bought this thinking it was a different car seat. I wish I had returned the thing before I opened the box. The head rest is terrible, cannot be removed and makes my poor sons head bob and fall all over the place. The seat sits low and makes it hard for my son (who is on the tall side) to see ou the windows. I hate this seat!
I will say it is not difficult to install. I move it in and out of my car with no problem.
