Like the other customers, I am warning others that this product is defective. We received it as a gift in June 2007, used it infrequently (a few times a week at most), and it stopped working (no power even when plugged in to a working outlet) in February 2008.

Needless to say, not worth shipping in to repair, but what a waste of money!

I'll be suspicious of Target's appliance selection from now on, as should you!

I wish I had read the other two reviews before I purchased this unit!! The microwave I purchased had the same problem. It stopped heating. But to be fair, it still works great as a clock, night light for the kitchen, or if you just need a useless, good looking appliance to take up space on your counter. I unfortunately require a microwave that also HEATS!! And the warranty- Sure, they'll warranty it- You pay the shipping there and back though, which amounts to not much less than what you already paid for the unit, and you're without a microwave until they fix it. I'll just send it to the landfill and buy another. It won't be a Emerson.

We've had this microwave for 7-8 months. About a month ago it started sparking and making this grinding/popping sound when we put certain items in it. Now its doing it too everything. Its ridiculous to have to buy 2 microwaves within a year. Our last one was 3-4 years old before we had to replace it.

I purchased this microwave a couple weeks ago, brought it home, plugged it in, and tested it for 3 mins. The top, sides, and back of the microwave got so hot I couldn't touch it. I couldn't place it near the wall or put any objects on top of it because I was afraid it would catch something on fire. I don't reccomend this microwave to anyone. I do not believe it is safe.

I received this microwave as a Christmas present. Three months later it just died. Would not heat, no clock, nothing. I thought I could exchange it at the store for a new one, but the store will not let you exchange appliances even if they are defective. It seems like the factory should have recalled this particular model. Please don't buy this one. I will also not buy another appliance at Target!

i bought this item less than 48 hrs. ago because i thought it was a good deal and took it out of the box today. i noticed simmetrical dents in the top and went to target online to look at the picture and see if they were supposed to be there. i noticed the 1 star review and decided to read the reviews where 31 out of 32 were negative. i decided it was a foolish purchase, so i put it back in the box and took it back. this is the important part ----- they asked me if i had used it and i said no. i asked, what if i had? they said they wouldn't take it back (48 hrs. after purchase)!!!! i'm glad i took it back immediately instead of using it for a day or 2 til i found another. i can't believe they have such a harsh return policy. i wouldn't buy another appliance there.

I bought this microwave 6 months ago at Target. This microwave takes 3-4 minutes to microwave a small serving of left overs-which is CRAZY! It doesnt evenly heat the food either. I also had problems with the bulb. It kept going on and off and sometimes the microwave plate would get stuck and not even turn! I kept it because I lost the reciept and dont really use the mocrowave like that. The other day I was reheating some food and it started making noises and sparking up like it was about to blow up in my apartment. I will NEVER buy anything Emerson again!!!!

I got this microwave on sale about 4 months ago and it started sparking today. I wish I would have seen the reviews before I bought it. It truly is a fire hazard and I am relieved that I did not turn it on and walk away, because there could have been a major fire.
