The Cliche "You get what you pay for"... April 16, 2008 Reviewer:  I LOVE my BEAUTIFUL Baby Girl! :) "Janissa S." (Orlando, FL, USA)  See all my reviews >

I have the fisher price rainforest jumperoo at my house and my baby absolutely LOVES it. I decided to get this jenny jump up for my parent's house because we visit so often and the other jumperoo is too big to fit in the car. Well, first off, there is a VERY HARD metal rod that goes all along the rim of the baby's seat...and my daughter is pressed against it and if you're a mommy like me - you want COMFORT for your baby, and this almost seems painful.
Also, it's not very bouncy at all...my poor girl kinda just hangs there and moves her feet and spins around in circles HAHA.

She is FAR more active in her other jumperoo...I was just hoping I didn't have to pay another $80 but as always....ya get what you pay for.

Maybe my rating is a bit harsh (1 star)..but it's MY review...and my baby just doesn't like this! LOL!

Well designed! Prefer over plastic! September 1, 2007 Reviewer:  Mommy of Two (WA State)  See all my reviews >

I bought this for my 6 month old because I didn't want the alternative (a gigantic plastic thing). I found it easy to assemble, but I do tend to have a good eye for how things go together. It's well designed and very safe. The clamp that secures it to the door trim is very tight and it hasn't budged at all.

The sides of the fabric seat do come up a little high, which may not work for some babies, so check some of the photos that people post for this item rather than relying on the evenflo picture (to get an idea). This is part of what makes it so safe (so that your baby doesn't topple or go head first out of it).

I also agree with the reviews regarding the high "toy straps", but I wasn't planning to hang toys from it. That isn't really the point. If you want to, then you can add some extra toy clips.

Because a baby can tire easily in something like this, I watch our baby closely. Generally, I don't think you buy this to entertain WHILE you clean the kitchen. I see it more as a tool to help satisfy their developmental urge a few minutes per day.

Another benefit is that it doesn't take up a lot of space like some of the other options out there.

Potentially Dangerous March 26, 2007 Reviewer:  Concerned Parent (At my desk)  See all my reviews >

I made the mistake of not reading the reviews before I purchased this item and I agree with all the negative comments. I was very, very disappointed with the Johnny Jump up. This product is very dangerous for infants and can seriously injure them. My daughter was in it for about 30 seconds and I immediately saw how dangerous this product is.

When a child jumps in this, they can very easily slam their head into the doorframe at a very good speed, and also get their arms and fingers caught between the doorframe and the seat. Its not balanced well at all it swings around very quickly, where an infant has no control over the speed or direction its going. It possibly would work with a double doorway but I dont have one to test actually test this.

Evenflo should discontinue this item or redesign it like the Graco bumper jumper which is what i purchased to replace the Johnny jump up from the suggestions of the other reviews. Its 100 times better. It has the tray with a bumper all around to protect their head and arms from the hitting the doorframe and its balanced well so it never actually reaches the doorframe.

Ive suggested that evenflo remove this item from the shelves before an infant is injured. I was told this was tested and is 100% safe. I've decided to let them put thier own infant in it and returned mine.

Not what I expected May 28, 2007 Reviewer:  AMBG "A & C's mom" (indianapolis, IN)  See all my reviews >

I put this together and had some trouble getting the straps to fit on the bracket. I finally got them on, hooked it to the doorway and immediately took it down. There is no way that this toy can be considered safe for an infant of any age. I wouldn't recommend this item for any child. The top bracket was made of metal. When my husband set it up and tried to check the weight it came off and hit him in the head. Had this been my baby it would have ended in a trip to the hospital.

Would be great if....... December 10, 2007 Reviewer:  Amy S. Neuenfeldt "4NEWIES" (NEW YORK)  See all my reviews >

Ok I use this mainly upstairs when I give my toddler a bath it gives my 6month old time to be bouncy and giddy and swing herslef around this would be a great product excpet (and if your military and in goverment housing listne up) the door ways are avergae width which means when she gets really excited or pushes with just one leg and it swing she smacks her head on the door fram even with it right in the middle and now that she reall grabs things and holds on she can put her tiny fingers between the door and door frame either make sure your door frame is wide enough or because its my toddlers bathroom i did a thing with some old towls for padding and to keep her fingers from getting squished.

Good for What it Does August 13, 2008 Reviewer:  Jennifer R. (Concord, CA)  See all my reviews >

I read through most of the other reviews, and I, of course, both agree and disagree.

We bought this for our son to use, to close that gap between when he WISHED he could move around, and when he actually could. To that end, it certainly served its purpose, and I was glad that I didn't spend more, since he used it so briefly (about two months, from 6 to 8 months).

I do agree that the seat doesn't look terribly comfortable. My son is very tall for his age, with a long torso, and he still seemed to sag into the seat and rest more on his armpits, at least at the beginning. Towards the end of his use of the jumper, his legs were stronger, so he was standing more than slumping.

However, it never seemed to bother him, and he had a grand old time spinning, bouncing and, as another reviewer said, chewing on the seat. He didn't have a hard time bouncing, but, as I said, he's a fairly big boy and is pretty heavy, so I don't know if that helps.

I think the issue comes down to how you plan to use the jump-around. If you are looking for a somewhere you can place your child for an extended period of time (more than 30 minutes, say), you'd probably want to buy something a little more elaborate and assuredly comfortable.

If you're looking to help baby get the feel of freedom of movement in a relatively secure way, for less than half an hour at a time, this will do the trick and won't cost you a ton of money. After all, once they start crawling, they don't have the slightest interest in this thing...

STRANGLING HAZARD! January 8, 2009 Reviewer:  Careful Mama "JC" (Selma, California)  See all my reviews >

When purchasing this item it indicates for babies 4 months and up. They really need to indicate a height standard as well. I purchased this for my 4 1/2 month year old and she nearly hung herself. I was sitting in my home office with my 11 year old daughter and had just placed the baby in the Jenny Jump in the same room... minutes later we hear the baby coughing/gagging and turn around finding her nearly hanging by the neck. Her arms had fallen into the seat leaning her forward with her chin/neck over the front bar as her body weight pulled her down. If I hadn't been in the same room or if there had been noise preventing me from hearing her she would have hung herself. I haven't placed her in it since. They need to indicate somewhere on the box or instructions that your babies torso should be a few inches longer than the length of the seat and her/his chin/neck should clear the bar at least 3-4 inches. BEWARE!

Doesn't work everywhere... October 14, 2008 Reviewer:  Mommy Overton (Slinger, WI)  See all my reviews >

My daughter loves this product! She plays in this till shes tired out. My issue with it is the fact that you can't use it everywhere and that was the whole appeal to me. My parents live in an older home and the molding on the doors it way too huge. My grandfathers home the door ways aren't wide so my daughter ends up smaking her head into the door frame and that doesn't make her happy! If you have a wide doorway like we do at our home it's great, but unfortuantly not all homes are built the same. If you want to buy this because it's portbale just pay attention to the doorways you want to use. Otherwise I have no problem with the product and like I said my daughter is a huge fan.

Cheap, Uncomfortable & doesn't bounce well May 23, 2008 Reviewer:  Terah B (MO)  See all my reviews >

I'm giving it 2 stars because one, its cheap, and two it entertains my baby although he likes it no where near as well as the jumperoo. The spring is too rigid and doesnt allow him to bounce very well. It was hard to put together and the seat is too deep. The metal frame / ring hits my son in the chest and it looks so uncomfortable (he's 6 months). It might keep my son busy 5 or 10 minutes, but he'll jump in the bounceroo until he falls asleep. I wish I would have spent my money on the more expensive over-the door model. Its nice to have something more portable than the bulky jumperoo...but this isn't even worth the $20 we paid for it

It might be good, but we'll never know! April 8, 2008 Reviewer:  JP's Mommy (Oregon)  See all my reviews >

I have a very active baby boy, so I thought the Johnny Jump-Up was going to be a homerun in our house. We even have an extra wide doorway between our living room and dining room, which I thought would provide the perfect spot. But you know that part in the product description where they tell you that you need a doorframe at least .5 inches high to hang the clamp? They don't tell you that there's a maximum, too! We have an older home (built in the 1920s) with beautiful thick moldings on the top of all of our doorways. Sadly, the clamp is about an inch too short to clear. We'd return our purchase, but my son slobbered all over the edge of the seat while I tried in vain to get it to stay up! If you have anything besides standard molding around your doorways, skip this!
