i love this swing. i used it almost every day from the time my daughter was a week old until she was 5 months old, only changing the batteries once. it didn't matter what kind of mood she was in the swing was perfect. if she was tired she would sleep if she wanted to play she would enjoy watching the animals and trying to reach them. but one day shortly after she began trying to sit on her own i witnessed her reaching for the bar on the side that supports the seat. once she was able to grab the bar she pulled the top part of her body forward. as that happened the swing stopped. then she reached out with her free hand and TOUCHED THE GROUND! once she realized she was able to do this she could no longer use the swing. this whole problem could be solved if the swing had a 5 point harness instead of 3. i would recommend this swing but under supervision and only until your child begins trying to sit up.

I saw the recent recall on this swing, and wanted to make something very clear regarding this swing. My little boy is now 6 months old and 20 pounds; until about a month ago, Gabriel practically LIVED in this swing. It didn't matter what kind of mood he was in, he just wanted to be in his seat. As he got a little older, I would move the mobile and set him in front of the TV so he could watch BabyFirst, and I never heard a peep from him. However, as soon as he got old enough to start pulling himself up with his arms, or where he was beginning to roll over, I took him out of it. NO SWING is safe for a child who is rolling over and beginning to become mobile. We had two of these swings, and have never had a problem with it. I have actually recommended this swing to a few people, and just reminded them that when the baby begins to roll over, they needed to stop using the swing. As long as you keep an eye on your child like you are supposed to, you won't have a problem with this swing.

My daughter repeatedly fell forward in this swing (head on floor while strapped in). It scared her (and me). I would NOT recommend this swing.
However, the company took it back, gave us a refund and said that they would do testing on it.

This swing does not have a shoulder harness to hold the baby back. If your baby leans forward, the only thing holding their body back from hitting the floor is the waist harness. Our 5 month old constantly pushes her weight forward, and nealry hit our hard wood floors on more than one occassion - face first. Not the safest swing. ONly lasted a couple of months before it became unsafe and we wished we had spent our money on another swing with a better harness system and tray.

My daughter was 2 months old and the same thing happened to her as many of the other babies. she was able to grab the pole on the side and was hanging there crying!!! I called Fisher price/ Mattel to tell them of this. I am surprised that this swing is being sold still! Anything for a buck!

I placed my 8 week old baby in this swing when she was only 8 lbs. and she was not able to sit up on her own. I had my back turned putting clothes away in her room when I heard her starting to scream and cry. When I turned around she was slumped over forward and sideways with her head against the front/side seat support! I immediately took her out of the swing and got rid of it. She could have been seriously hurt had I not been there to rescue her! Many other people have made the same unsafe claims on this product and it is still being sold! Do not buy this item or if you do have it watch your baby in it 100% of the time!

I strapped my 5 month old daughter in swing and ran to the bathroom. I heard her scream and found her head first upside down!!! Very scary sight! Scared to use it again.

We bought this swing when my son was in the NICU because it was easy to transport to the hopital. We have used it for the last 6 months and this weekend my son fell half way out! His head was on the floor and his body was still strapped into the swing. He is well below the weight limit and not mobile at all. He reached for his feet and the swing tipped him out. Unless your child does not move at all DO NOT BUY THIS SWING!

When we had our first baby, there was maybe one portable swing (7 years ago) and now there are a lot more because it's extremely nice to take them from room to room easily. We end up using it a lot more than the other toys which are too big and bulky to move around. We just had another baby and bought this one (our other one ended up not working since we left batteries in it which corroded over 7 years). He's been happy in it and once again, I'm happy I didn't buy another big swing that I would probably rarely use unless I stayed in the same room all the time.

I absolutely love this swing...I take it everywhere we travel! I gave it only 4 stars b/c it's purpose is to travel, but it is hard to pack due to the large handles. Howeve.r we still take it everywhere we go. My son loved it and we used it until he was atleast 6 months old. He has outgrown it now, but I definitely would recommend it to a friend and I will be hanging on to it for my next child!
