It reads: 3yrs and up. Maximum weight not to exceed 160 pounds. I purchased this item for a family event and it was tragic. I weight 120 pounds, am in great physical shape and on the first bounce I heard a snap and fell off the ball. I could not move my leg, after 2 days I went to the doctor and had x-rays done. I had torn my knee ligament. This toy is too dangerous. Don't buy.

My 6 and 3 year old sons each received one of the hopping balls for their birthday. They love them! When properly inflated, these balls are the perfect size. There are thicker rubber hopping balls out there but you will pay more for them. These balls are a great deal for the price!

I bought this ball for my 2 1/2 year old and it was just the right size for him. He is now almost 3 1/2 and it is too small for him. It has a slow leak now and I'm constantly filling it up with air. But, he got one year of use out of it and enjoyed it. I've owned other hop balls through the years for my other 2 sons and I would say that this ball is not the best quality you can get in a hop ball, but it's great for little ones who are just starting out. This Christmas I'll be getting him a bigger and better built one (like the Hop 45, Hop 55, or Hop 66). These are great balls for older kids. The Hop 66 holds up to 300 lbs. so you parents can sneak on there too! Lots of fun and great exercise.

We got the Spongebob ball for our sons 4th birthday. I don't know what these other people are talking about. My son is 39 inches tall and the ball is about 45 inches round, much larger than a cantalope. He was hopping on it the moment is was blown up. I am buying one for my friends child also. I would definitely recommend this to other people.

It's closer to 16 inches in circumference than diameter... Mine is much smaller than a watermelon!
It's way too small to bounce on so I'm just making it into a swing. I don't recommend this ball.

I thought the other reviewer was exaggerating when she said the ball was the size of a watermelon. But the ball really is about as wide as a watermelon. There is no way the ball is large enough for the average 5 year old. (The box says the toy is for "Ages 5 and up") The ball should be a good size for the two year olds I work with though.
The SpongeBob decal doesn't look like it is going to hold up very well. Otherwise, the construction appears to be sturdy.
The box says that the foot pump adapter is not included, but it is and it's the best adapter I have seen. The others I have used would not stay in the ball without me holding them in place while I pumped. This one actually stayed put.
So, if you are looking for something a 5 year old could use, look elsewhere. If you're looking for an inexpensive hopper for a smaller child, give this a try.

This is way to small to use. It looks like a large watermelon. I also ordered a Dora Hopping Ball which is about the size of a cantelope, despite having the same description and price.
