IMPORTANT!! Balls Require Proper Inflation April 9, 2008 Reviewer:  J Rob "J Robinson" (Baltimore, MD)  See all my reviews >

I am writing this review because I contacted GAIAM directly as I too had problems with the size. What I found out was that the maximum diameter of the ball is much more than I thought. When first inflating, quite frankly, you aren't really sure whether to inflate more as not to over inflate and pop the ball. I couldn't imagine it being inflated much more. When I finally found out how much to inflate it I was surprised. I WAS WAY OFF!! Now that it is inflated properly it is the perfect size. I actually don't have it inflated to it's maximum diameter either.

To check the diameter do the following:
1- Find your maximum diameter. It's written on the GAIAM sticker on the ball.
2- measure up the a wall from floor to maximum diameter. Mine was 55 cm. Mark the wall at the height of the max. diameter.
3- place your ball up against the wall and see if it comes near that mark. Use a ruler on top the ball, making sure it is level, to see how high the ball is.
4- if needed, inflate it more and keep checking the diam/height using the mark as your gage. (or deflate it)

You may not need it totally inflated to the maximum diameter. For me, I sit on the ball with my knees over my feet and see where it puts my knees. If they are at my waist I inflate a little more until my knees are about at my hips which will cause my legs to be bent at about a 90degree angle. Remember not to inflate above the maximum diameter.

For those who have bought the ball and have had a problem with the size, I promise...you'll be floored when it is inflated properly!!

I love it. February 3, 2008 Reviewer:  Explorer Customer See all my reviews >

I received that kit for my 45th birthday and I found that it was too demanding at first. I skipped the first DVD (Stress relief & Stretching) to go right on the "Work Out" DVD. My body hurt (tights) a lot and it was my fault. I was "in a hurry" to get in shape... Four days later, I exercised with the two other themes and I found that it was awesome. I have a back injury and the stretching is not violent, the anti-stress part is also very effective with the music that is nice and calm. It's important to watch the DVDs while we do the exercises. We should never make some moves if we feel that they hurt us, mostly if we have a back problem. I started recently the "Work Out" and the rubber band is solid, my "abs" work very hard!. However, I would suggest that you buy the larger ball (not the medium) if you're 5"7 like me. Also, they could improve the pump that is kind of cheap.

Recommended hieght are wrong January 14, 2008 Reviewer:  fire fox ":)" (oregon)  See all my reviews >

If you are between 5'6"-5'11" go for the large. I'm 5'9" and couldn't do most the exercises they were showing.

Great product, what can I say November 15, 2008 Reviewer:  Sam Kigelman Real Name See all my reviews >

I had no trouble with inflating the ball, I just did it as long as I could.
I have to disagree with Fire Fox - I was given a 'large' as a gift, and it was waaaay to big for me, it says 'for people 6' to 6'5' on it. I still managed to do the exersizes, but I kept nearly falling off the ball. Took me a while to figure out, the ball isn't universal size... Thank god for Target's 90 day return policy.
I'm 5'8, and will try the medium, like the sizes say to do. Anyway, who ever said guys don't do these types of exercizes... was wrong :)
