Perfect for "new" cyclists. June 21, 2008 Reviewer:  Oscar Garcia Real Name (La Vista (Omaha), NE United States)  See all my reviews >

These bikes only carry the Schwinn name, and are made by another company, but this seems to be a solid performer for what it's intended. This bike is being used by an adult who hadn't been on a bike in over a decade and didn't want to spend a significant amount of money on something that she only rides a few miles per week, if even that. This bike is strictly for sidewalk/bike path/neighborhood street use. Some of the components are low-budget, but what do you expect for a sub-$200 bike? It has Shimano-branded dérailleurs and brakes that function quite well. The frame is solid (heavy), but if you are looking to strengthen your lower body, the extra weight will come in handy for pushing up those hills. It now has a Schwinn-branded bike computer installed on it, and it is that much more enjoyable to ride and monitor exercise progress. The bike that we bought came with a small seat post bag and water bottle, so that was an added bonus. I think this bike is perfect for adults who want to start on the bottom of the cycling ladder and work their way up, or for kids who will eventually outgrow it and/or wear it out. If you maintain this bike, it will probably last many years.

Good Bike but Assembly Flawed June 7, 2008 Reviewer:  Mom & Dad K (Lansdale, PA, USA)  See all my reviews >

After we got home from the Target Store my daughter wanted to ride it right away. The left pedal FELL OFF after about 1 minute of riding. She of course fell to the ground and scraped her knee. After I fixed the pedal that fell off, and was checking the right pedal, I notice that it was about to fall off also. I had to attach both pedals to the bike and made sure they were tight. [...]. Before you ride, check the bike out first to make sure it is sound. Other than that, the bike is good for the amount paid. The shifters are a little tight and hard for a 10 year old to move but I'm hoping they will get easier as time goes on. The quick release for the front wheel and the seat are great feature you don't get on other 24 inch bikes. Brakes seem to be very good.

The Perfect Bike for Me May 4, 2009 Reviewer:  Plain Cruiser (CA, USA)  See all my reviews >

My husband bought me a Schwinn 26" cruiser bike but it was too high for a 5'2" like me. I wasn't comfortable with it at all. So, I went with him to return the bike and our local Target store accepted it with no hassle. We then get this bike, the 24" Schwinn Ranger and this is just perfect for me. It looks good, well-built and comfortable.

If buying retail make sure to check return policy April 11, 2009 Reviewer:  Thorough shopper (St. Petersburg, FL)  See all my reviews >

I was in a local Target today ready to buy this bike for my daughter. I expect it would have been a very good bike, especially compared to the other bikes.

However, because my daughter's height is on the lowest end for this bike, I wanted to make sure that she'll be comfortable (safe!) on it. I looked EVERYWHERE in Target's bike area and there was nothing mentioned about returns policy. So I called for help, and the sale associate didn't know either. So she called the question in, and only then I found out about the "No returns except for assembly repair problems." Forget that! At this price, I don't want to suffer buyer's remorse. Next stop--a retail outlet that will let us return a bike if it's the wrong size. Too bad Target has a no returns policy. I wonder how many customers found out about the policy too late.

Do not purchase from Richfield, MN Super Store June 28, 2008 Reviewer:  Chris See all my reviews >

Very unhelpful staff would not allow us to upgrade to more expensive model after purchase. Odd they did not want the additional store revenue.

A No Return Policy is not posted in-store, and we were told by the store Supervisor that we should have looked online to read the details of the Return Policy before making a purchase, which are not even printed on the original store receipt.

Going forward, I would definitely make bike purchases elsewhere.
