I'm a designer/inventor. I bought a similar stake light in a Target store for $10. Very well built with a larger glass globe. The store sold out, so I purchased this set of three online(more expensive). Why Target let them loose on the public is a mystery.
They all broke and are partially made of cheapo plastic unsuitable for this application. They should be recalled. It appears a different manufacturer produced the item I bought in the store...
Doesn't Target test these things???

I bought these because of their height. All 3 of them broke immediately upon my placing them into the ground. The ground was NOT hard, it had rained the night before. They literally snapped! So....while they all light up beautifully, they are short. Which is NOT what I was looking for. Not worth the price.

These lights are great! My wife and I hve bought two sets and they work extremely good. Our neighbor across the street had them in his back yard, and we fell in love with them. Where we live the ground is very very hard packed clay, but we bought because he broke one helping us place them in the ground, but the company replaced it completely free of charge, and gave us a free gift. We love the product. It works and the people that make thme stands behind it. My wife is crazy about them and it really is fun looking out on these early dark nights and watching them glowing. A good value from Target.

While the colors were very pretty, the quality of the stakes is very cheaply made and breaks very easily. You have to carefully push the stakes from the bottom into the dirt. They would break even when pulling them out. I feel for the cost of these lights that sturdier material should have been used. I wish I had seen these other reviews prior to buying the sets. I might have thought twice.

these were $10 more than i found them elsewhere......eye catchers and fun to watch. only thing is all three turn the same color at same time........cut on/off does not change pattern of colors....all three same color...nicer if three were going in/out different 3 colors.....

I purchased two of these last summer at the store. Although they worked nicely for a while, one snapped in two near the solar panel and will not stand up straight. It still lights. Just this last weekend, the dog got caught up in the other one and it too snapped. I do not think duct tape will even hold them up so they have to lean on something. I love them and wanted to purchase more, but this set of 3 is too high for the poorly made plastic it contains.

I searched every Target in our local area to find more of these solar garden stakes [6 stores] and they were sold out of them and not one store replenished their stock over the past three months. Finally I found them on line, but when I opened the box I saw they are much smaller in size than the ones I purchased in the store.
I find the store selection on these very frustrating....if they were such good sellers. why not restock them?

Glass Globe Solar Garden Stakes Set

Beautiful BUT TOO Fragile! Stakes are easy to break when you put into the soil or clay and then later pull off from the clay soil. Can fix stakes ok. For the globe glass-- it breaks off easily. Kids were playing balls and inadvertently hit the glass globe with ball and the glass globe broke off right away. Even tried to use superglue. There is no hope to fix!!
A few months ago, I bought a different brand with solar wrap around the stake, it seems that this one balances better when you put it into the soil/clay. For glass, I see M-shaped wires inside the glass to hold. Still yet, it is too early to tell whether it will last or not. If I am not seeing any improvement, I will stop buying!

LOVE / HATE Relationship

I fell in LOVE with these in the target store at $.. each. At first I bought the dark blue globes because I loved the color. When the store ran out of blue, I reluctantly bought the clear globes. That was a BIG PLUS. The clear glass ones sparkle in the sunlight, then glow changing colors at night. They add a festive look to the deck. Now for the HATE part of this relationship. The glass globes are fragile. I've placed the stakes in pots on the deck, so the stakes are sturdy enough for good potted soil. If the solar panel is overshadowed by a leaf, it won't be recharged to light at night. The panels are big and unattractive. Also, after three months, two of the nine globes are not functioning. The night light is very dim at the bulb and doesn't change color. THERE is NO WAY to REPAIR these. These globes were meant to be DISPOSABLE. Not good for environmentally conscious consumers.
