I know this bamboo stuff is supposed to be so great because it is a renewable resource, durable, blah blah blah, but if you read the little direction sheet on the packaging, it says to use some kind of oil on it to keep is durable and protect material. I can't find that oil anywhere. My other issue is that the first time I used it I didn't read that instruction bit and the board seemed to splinter, and that didn't look safe. The only reason that I have not returned this product to Target is that I am determined to find that oil and make good use of this supposedly wonderful bamboo cutting board. Any advice?

I like this item for cutting vegtables, bread, onions, and such. But like others, not for meats. Easy to clean and care for.
