Great Netbook! July 24, 2009 Reviewer:  Tech Savvy Student "Steve" (Harrisonburg, VA, USA)  See all my reviews >

I have had my HP for a little less than a week and am very impressed with what I have found so far. I will be using it for primarily college classes and needed something portable, yet powerful enough to run several applications simultaneously; and on a slim budget. So far, I have found it to be very capable of handling several programs regardless of not having a dual core processor or 4G of RAM that many other full size laptops carry. The keyboard and mousepad were much easier to adjust to than I expected and after 4 days of internet browsing, setup, and heavy processor usage, the battery is still at about 25%. The screen takes a little while to get accustomed to, but I haven't found any problems with websites or programs not being able to display. If you are looking for a great portable laptop without compromising power and performance, or simply a laptop on a budget (like me), this is a great option that I would highly recommend.

Spec's and Notes I'd of wanted to know September 29, 2009 Reviewer:  The Writer "K.D. Frost" (Sacramento, CA, USA)  See all my reviews >

I've had this laptop for about 3 hours now. I'm using it mainly for college and for a portable notebook to write in. Here are some things not in the details that I would have liked to know:
~ The battery sticks out of the bottom of the computer by half and inch making it even thicker. I could see this reducing over heating problems. When sitting, it inclines the keyboard, which is actually kinda nice.
~ The 110-1030NR has 3 USB ports, 1 SD-MS/Pro-MMC-XD port, 1 of the smaller monitor ports, a firewire port, and the headset port. It doesn't say anythig about USB on the box and the store model was an inacurate plastic display.
~ The keyboard is nice. The top and bottom edge of the keys are raised making each key slightly concaved for comfortable typing. The BACKSPACE KEY is a full two keys wide. TAB is one key wide, but seems to be in a good spot - haven't missed it yet. END and HOME keys are function (fn) RIGHT and LEFT ARROW, respectively. FN is right under SHIFT, next to CTRL. If you Shift+end to highlight lines of text you're not going to like this at all, but it seems do able once you retrain your fingers.
~ There's no latch to hold the laptop close, in case you're wondering.
~ Power and wireless buttons are slide buttons. You slide the little silver thing to the left and it snaps back to the right and you've pushed the button. And they're on the front, possible that you could slide your palm over it and shut it off? Probably not, but I haven't tried yet.
~ I've been running downloads, installations, explorer, video streeming for 2.5 hours straight and has remained relatively cool, no warmer than my larger laptop.
~ It's not a heavy computer, but it is a little heftier than I had origionally thought. It's about the weight of a Biology Text.
~ The touch pad is no more combersome than my larger laptop's touchpad. All the same issues: select things with the palm of my hand while I'm typing, buttons on the side are kinda hard to press, etc. However it's really long, like the shape of the monitor and I have no trouble getting from either side of the screen like I do on my larger laptop.

All in all I'm sure it will be a wonderful word processor, and I plan to use the keyboard rather than attach a normal one. The battery was a kind of shock and disapointment, but the angle it's at is really helpful in typing. It just doesn't fit with it's cords in the mini protective case I bought it. >.<

I hope this helps! Good luck with your new laptop, whichever you decide.

This is a great netbook. I can honestly say that it has exceeded my expectations. My only regret is that I did not buy one sooner.

Perfect! October 28, 2009 Reviewer:  John's Mommy (Tampa, FL, USA)  See all my reviews >

I love this netbook! I'm a mom and the last thing I need is a heavy/bulky laptop! This thing is so light and it fits in my diaper bag which is a bonus! I love the design & the fact that the keybord is almost full size! The only thing I found weird was the right and left mouse buttons are on the sides of the touch pad instead of the bottom but I have been using it for week and I'm already used to it! It does not have a disk drive so I had to download security software from a website......no big deal! I have no problems running several windows at the same time & I love that it has XP....I will not buy a computer with Vista! I used it for about 1 1/2 hours without being plugged in and it was still at 58% battery life...don't know how long it will go until it dies! I think it is a wonderful product for the price, but that is why I bought a HP....I have never had a problem with them! We have a desktop, full size laptop & this netbook all made by HP, I love all of them!

a dream come true October 30, 2009 Reviewer:  will3497 (Cedar Rapids, IA)  See all my reviews >

I originally had no plans on buying a netbook. After researching, I found this to be a real GEM! It's perfect for school, for staying online, and for cruising the internet! It has plenty of RAM and a 6 cell battery with a good 6 -7 hours of life. This is one of the greatest buys I have ever made!!
