Awesome Machine! Need patience for set up. April 20, 2008 Reviewer:  MizBitz "MizBitz" (Valley Village, CA)  See all my reviews >

I read many reviews about this machine before buying it. So I was prepared for some of the more stressful cons that people had listed previously in reviews. Here are a few things that may help you enjoy this product from the get go and prevent user error in setting up.

1- Haier has made the instruction manual user friendly so the problems that people had previously warned about was pretty much a moot point. If you can read and follow instructions, you'll be washing in no time.

2- Face plate is marked clearly on which way it is installed. There is no way to confuse which way it goes anymore. Unless, you can't read and follow directions. I do suggest screwing in the screws a little bit first to place the plate. Then tightening them later because it offers you more wiggle room to place correctly. Kind of like when you change a tire on a car.

3- use very little detergent. With tide making the 2X concentrated liquid detergent, I use a Teaspoon per large heavy load. This is plenty to get clothes clean. Any more and your clothes will have a ceratain crispy feeling to them when you air dry from using too much soap.

4- Use a HE detergent. They are better then just regular liquid detergents because they disolve well in cold water. I do not recommend at any time using powdered detergent. It leaves a residue on your clothing and you will have to rewash. Especially with a dhark load.

5- when you hook up the machine, Use teflon tape around all of the threaded connections to provide better protection from leaks. No matter what portable washer or portable dishwasher you get this is very important.

6- Machine drains out just fine with the drain hose being disconnected. I did it and there is no problem You just need to make sure that the end of the hose is placed higher then the bottom of the machine.

7- when you disconnect the water hose from the sink, be sure to shut off the water source at the sink, set the machine up to run, when the machine starts to fill it will absorb any remaining water in the intake hose, press the stop/off button, then remove the hose from the sink. This prevents you from getting sprayed when disconnected the intake.

8- The machine no longer plays jingle bells when done. It has a cute little chime that chirps when its done.

I just cleaned all of the clothes in my closet and.... the load I was doing is now done. :-0

Beats going to the laundrymat and washing your clothes in other people's bacteria laden machines.

Best washing machine I've ever owned! November 16, 2007 Reviewer:  NinjaDoll (San Diego, CA)  See all my reviews >

I've had this washer for a little over a year and am still getting super clean clothes. It's still extremely quiet, and I've only had one problem with it, which was user error (silly me). I am about to buy one of Haier's portable dryers. I've had great success with this manufacturer, having owned their camper-sized dishwasher previously.

This thing is better at cleaning my clothes than the previous three large-capacity washers I've owned (major name brands). Who'd have thought? I use it every day, too, so it's gone through at least 400 loads.

Most of the time I use the "quick wash" cycle because that's all that's really needed to clean things. It doesn't hold a lot of clothes but it holds more than you'd expect. I've done my queen sheet sets in it (but it won't do the comforter, sorry)!

It's important to remember to do four things when you unpack this unit:

1. Be sure you take that plastic housing out of the bottom of the machine. It's only there to keep the drum in place during shipping.

2. Before you use it, tighten the hose. This will prevent leaks.

3. Install the drip pan so the tall side is facing the floor. This will prevent noise.

4. Always position the hose so that it drains =above= the washing machine. If you don't, water will drain continuously through the rinse cycle and your load will never finish. If you have those typical rental unit sliding shower doors, the ideal thing to do is pass the hose under the towel rack and close the door against the plastic hook so it drains down the inside of the door and into the tub. This is just the right height. A sink that's at least four inches above the top of the unit works well, too, just be sure you secure the hose with something heavy or it will fall and flood the floor.

I put it on those flat casters so I can move it easily around my room. Works great on linoleum or carpet.

Anyone who has a negative thing to say about this unit either has a lemon (it happens) or has not followed the instructions. Granted, they're not written in the best of English but they're much better than most VCR manuals.

Amazed and Delighted!! May 5, 2006 Reviewer:  Delighted Customer "Claudette P." (Lancaster, CA, USA)  See all my reviews >

I am over 50 yrs. old and live alone in an upstairs apartment. I was tired of lugging baskets of clothes up and down the stairs...plus, it was costing me about $25 every month for coin-op machines. The estimated delivery date was two weeks away but this washer arrived just two days after I ordered it. The instruction manual was very clear and assembly was easy as pie. My first load of clothes were wash clothes and towels. The machine wasn't any noisier than a dishwasher and it didn't walk across the floor...staying right in place during the entire wash, spin and rinse cycles. The items were clean and fresh...and I hung them on a drying rack to dry. I think I will find a way to put a clothes line on my balcony so they can dry in the fresh air. The machine is a little heavy but I imagine that casters would cause it to walk during operation. Perhaps a huge house plant holder with casters would work to move it from the closet to the sink...maybe I will give that a try. All in all, I think this is a wonderful appliance and I am happy that I made the purchase.

Great product, terrible documentation November 18, 2008 Reviewer:  TWR See all my reviews >

The washer is great and works very well. I also purchased a Haier compact dryer that runs on wall current and it is also fantastic.

However, the assembly instructions that come with the washer are TERRIBLE. Luckily, assembly is very easy, though it's also easy to put the bottom metal plate on upside down (if you do, the washer will make a HORRIFYING noise when you run it. Just take the plate off, flip it over and reattach it and all will be well).

It doesn't do a lot of laundry at once, and I still have to wash my blankets and comforters at the laundromat, but this was an incredibly worthwhile purchase.

I've now had the washer for more than a year and I don't regret the purchase in the slightest.

My life is in this little washer November 9, 2007 Reviewer:  Irene Smith Real Name (New Jersey)  See all my reviews >

To all whos looking at this cute little washer...Im in love with this little thing,me and my room mates use to spend $$$ on going to town to do the laundry, if your like me and you live in a apartment that does not allow a washing machine but can hide it from your landlord some where in a closed closet and never go to a laundry matt again, I say this is the right thing for you.
It runs like a dream but can be a little loud on the final rinse, just remember and I cant stress this enough people, Do not over load the washer with to many clothes and for your sake and the floors, do not use to much detergent!!!!A small amount goes a long, long, way, maybe a half a cap full maybe less. And for the people who said this was nothing but junk, well...I havnt had any problems with it, my clothes come out great! just read the derections, use common scense and you will be fine! Thanks Target..You saved my life and my clothes!

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it!! June 1, 2008 Reviewer:  andresmommy (New Mexico)  See all my reviews >

I have had this baby now for a few months and I love it! I live in an apartment with a nearly 3 year old who loves to mess up his clothes. I was previously paying an arm and a leg to do laundry in the basement and having to deal with other building occupants. It sits right in front of my kitchen sink and works great. I don't know what all these other people are complaining about with regards to water leaks. I've NEVER had an issue with that. Just use the right rubber washers that come with the machine and it won't leak. I've had minor issues with it, but they were all as a result of user error and not a negative quality of the machine itself. For example, watch out for heavier clothing or fabrics. It may seem light or thin when dry, but when wet could be super heavy. If the case, wash less in the load. Still, the washing machine was the best money I spent this year!! And for those who complained that it was lacking quality because it came in a damaged box, that is a result of the shipper, not whats inside the box.

Great little machine! Some QC problems though... March 20, 2008 Reviewer:  Loco in the Desert "Craig" (Phoenix)  See all my reviews >

Let me just say that I loved this little washer. I'm a single parent, father of an 8 year old boy, and need to do laudry on a regular basis - this definitely beats the apartment machines (and pays for itself within a several months in saved coin).
Here's what I like (a lot):
- Cleans great: I tend to do lots of small loads so this is perfect. No problems with any clothing, sheets and covers for queen size beds but, I live in the desert so, no down comfortors or parkas here (they'll probably fit but I doubt they would clean well).
- Gentle on clothes: I have a few neighbors who also have this machine. The girls claim this is the machine equivalent of hand washing. There's no center impeller to "thrash" the clothes instead, the water seems to jet in from the sides. All the tub is available for cleaning which allows it to accomodate larger items (and more clothing) than you'd expect for a machine this size.
- Clothes come out almost completely dry. Since the air here is dry all the time, I just hang the clothes and they're ready to wear in a 20 to 30 minutes.
- No leaks, easy to hook up, easy to stow when not in use (and light enough to move). The quick release makes it a breeze to detach from the sink and the hoses have sufficient length to attach the water inlet to the sink and the outlet to the tub.

Here's what I didn't like:
- Quality control definitely lacking in this manufacturing plant. There is a plate you will need to attach to the bottom of the machine with 4 screws but my unit had the screw holes covered with the corner plates that had been welded over them.
- The motor in my unit had not been properly attached so, as it move out of alignment it began to make a very loud grinding sound.
- Clothes sometimes come out all "twisted" around each other. Not a big deal for me but might add some wrinkles that others may object to. Washing smaller loads seems to resolve this issue.

Helpful hints:
- Do not detach the drain hose from the side of the unit (refer to the picture on the website, the hose on the left runs up the side and is attached with a plastic tie). If you do, the water will siphon out and the machine will never fill.
- Attach the base plate with the "bulge" facing down toward the floor. The phone support guy said they're going to start adding labels to remind you of this but if you don't, expect to hear a loud grinding sound when the unit runs (easy enough to fix, just flip it over and re-attach).
- If you have problems, call the Haier support line for help. I got through after just a minute or two and, although their advice was to return it, I felt like they would have been able to resolve simple issues.

I would confidently recommend this unit for single/coupled apartment dwellers [...]

Best little washer ever! December 21, 2008 Reviewer:  jperez617 See all my reviews >

I bought this washer in September and it hasn't given me a moment's trouble since. It's so quiet that my landlady didn't know I was running it when she was in the house - during the spin cycle!
It washes all of the laundry for a family of three. I wash clothes once a week and manage to get everything, except the king-sized comforter, of course. It's such a relief to see my son's skin clear up right after I stopped having to take his clothes to the laundromat.

I absolutely wonder why I waited so long to get this machine...it does a wonderful job in getting my clothes clean, and I do not have to spend time at the laundromat any longer. If you do not try to wash as many clothes as a full size washer in one load, you will do great.I also ordered the folding drying rack and it too, is great. It expands and will hold two loads of clothes.

cheap product February 26, 2006 Reviewer:  GrrBear (Orange County, CA, US)  See all my reviews >

With the unit I received, when I set the water level to high, it would make a terrible grinding noise without starting the wash cycle. It sounded like a small jack hammer, but was probably its insides disintegrating. Fortunately, the spin cycle worked fine, so I was able to drain the tub.
With the water level set to medium, the wash cycle did commence, but consisted of a feeble swishing back and forth (it operates by shooting jets of water through the sides of the tub while doing a half-spin) that did little to clean clothes.
It's unreasonable to expect high quality with this product line, but every part of this machine is as cheap as could be used in its manufacture. The drain hose is of stiff, inflexible plastic that would undoubtedly break one day. There were slight leaks that caused puddles underneath, and also from the water hose connection. The metal plate you have to attach to the bottom has to be bent to make it fit - fortunately, it's not much thicker than a piece of aluminum foil. When I removed it to repackage the washer, there were bits of rubber and a film of oil on it, just from a couple uses. It's unlikely this machine would last very long.
There is a little entertainment to be had from the broken English instructions printed on top of the machine. The manual is a little better grammatically, but still not of much practical use. I returned the machine, and I can't say I would buy this brand again.
