I bought this after I broke the glass carafe on my other Hamilton Beach wave action blender (which if you can find that model, for the same price is an awesome blender for making smoothies). This blender had absolutely NO power, would actually grind the spinning mechanism against the carafe bottom if it hit too much ice, and the motor smelled like it was about to catch fire. I wouldn't recommend this product to anyone, it went directly in the trash soon after I bought it.

I got this after our old blender finally started seeping liquid. I make smoothies and cocktails with it. It is fantastic because it has this little to-go cup that blends right in the cup - probably not the best for those with little patience. I smelled the sort of burning smell, too, but nothing bad has happened from it and it doesn't appear to effect my smoothies. It's not that strong or bad at all. The blender crushes ice and everything far better than the old one we had, which was more expensive. Can't wait to use the to go cup for mornings walking to work!!

Only three of the buttons work. Very cheap plastic container. Cup to go doesn't work.
Off to the Salvation Army--too much effort to return being homebound. Learned my lesson. Never again without a five
star recommendation.

The motor died the first time I used it. I was trying to make a smoothie with ice and the blender did not do well with the ice. Then it starter smelling bad and didn't work anymore. The motor burnt up after less than 30 seconds of use!!! Don't get this blender, you will just be returning it the next day like I did.

My hubby bought this for me when my old one died (had that one for 15 years!) I thought it looked very nice, good size. Happy with it until the 3rd use and it started smoking/smelled like it was burning up, and I wasn't even crushing ice with it! I tried it again a few days later and it was even worse. Called Hamilton Beach, they will charge a shipping charge to send a new one. Save your receipt, you'll need it! Wish hubby would've read the reviews on this as it seems to be a real problem for others too.

I found that this blender met my needs.
I like the washable plastic pitcher. It's not as heavy and breakable as a glass one would be.
I do not use it for ice but it blends everything else well.
You do have to hold the base sometimes or it wants to unscrew as it is blending. Also, the pulse feature should be used in the beginning to grind up larger pieces.

We use the blender for milkshakes and smoothies. Works really well and is easy to clean. The To Go Cup is very handy, if you are making single servings.

I was hoping it'll do the job, but it didn't. I was very disappointed. I just bought it yesterday and today, I'm returning it. NEver AGAIN!

Died on the third use. Motor started horribly smoking and it wouldn't work anymore. They should be ashamed to advertise this as great at crushing ice because it couldn't handle grinding 3 tiny ice cubes on the third use. This is more of a potential fire hazard than anything else. This item needs to be discontinued immediately and Target should not be carrying this shoddy merchandise.
