Will this do everything? No. It wouldn't sew through three layers of fleece. But it has sewn my 2nd grade niece a jumper for her Christmas pageant and hemmed up a shower curtain. It's getting ready to make a bathroom window curtain out of the old shower curtain. For ordinary household sewing this does a great job, and it's cute [...]!

It was great to see a review from a 13 year old! I am searching for a machine for my 5 year old granddaughter. I was surprised to see reviews for so many of the children's machines written by adults...adults who purchased the machine for themselves. *smile*

Before I bought it, I read the reviews most of them were good and a couple were BAD. I am learning to sew and I did not want something too fast, complicated or expensive. I love Hello Kitty stuff and that's why I choose it. The instructions are easy to understand (step by step), the machine its very light, small, pretty and somehow quiet. My children are motivated to learn also because is so attractive and this is the second reason for buying it: my children can use it and I will not feel worry that the machine would frustrate them or that they would break it. The 3rd reason was the price I paid to get it @ my door in 5 days(including weekends) There it is, for service, quality and beauty (did I mention It is very pretty?), is that I recommend this machine to any "young one" that wants to learn how to sew or wants something practical for little sewing jobs. Bought this little machine for my kids back in February. Has worked great right out of the box. Have used other "mini" sewing machines previously and was searching for a real alternative for young beginners. This one is fabulous in comparison. Issue with foot pedal for other reviewer might have been isolated defect on that one machine. Works like normal for us: press down to sew, lift foot to stop. Possible printing error on threading diagram in our manual: step 1 shows thread going under both "prongs" of thread guide, but we go under the back one & over the front one. Could help if you're having trouble with tension. Overall very happy with this little Janome. Thanks to all you other reviewers for helping our decision. :)

I bought this little machine just for scrapbooking and it is perfect! I almost didn't purchase it because of the on/off foot pedal thing but it has not been an issue at all. Instead of pulling out my full sized machine I used this to sew a quick pillow and it did a great job. It isn't the fastest but it's a decent speed.

this machine is so easy to use and so light i bought this as a temporary 1 for the big 1 i already have and this lil 1 sews just as good it doesnt do all the facy stich work others do but it has good tension for its size ... its really cute too if ur plannin on giving it to a younger girl as well

I received this machine as a gift for my 35th birthday and I am delighted. I had never really sewn before and I wanted something that was simple and didn't intimidate me. It is so cute and bright that you want to use it, and so simple that after a little while, I was ready to sew. I will say that the only thread I had in the house was some really heavy gauge thread and that worked great for a while but the machine really couldn't handle it well and kept getting all tied up in knots on the back of the fabric. I went to the store got the right thread, and I was off and running again. In the first day, I made two beautiful pillow covers for my couch, and then the next day I made a skirt. It is that easy.

The machine is a nice size, light weight and portable, cute and easy to use. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to learn to sew and have some fun. If you follow the instructions and use the right thread you will have no problems with this machine. Great Buy!

I BOUGHT THIS FOR MY TEEN DAUGHTER!IT IS NOT WORTH ITS MONEY.I EVEN EXCHANGED IT AND IT STILL DIDNT WORK.THE NEEDLE KEPT BREAKING.IT KEPT GETTING STUCK..I CANNOT RECCOMEND THIS ITEM.

I'm an experienced sewer and I own 2 electronic machines. I bought this one to teach my granddaughter how to sew and take with me when I travel. It worked great and was as I expected. The first time I sewed the tension was perfect. It's great for beginner sewers,mending and crafts.
