I'm amazed! July 11, 2007 Reviewer:  soylatte (Florida, USA)  See all my reviews >

Between the kitties, the dust, the a/c, and the carpet, it was getting impossible to breathe at night. I began researching air purifiers and I chose this Honeywell model because: it has a true Hepa filter; the filter is permanent and only needs vacuuming for maintenance (there is a pre-filter that needs to be replaced but it is inexpensive); the system alerts you when the filters need to be changed/replaced; and this model was available in store so I didn't have to pay for S&H. My only concern was that this model was not powerful enough for a large area and did not have a CADR rating as high as the more expensive model that Honeywell makes (I don't think Target carries this model). But I still bought two of these (one for the living rm. and one for the bedroom). Getting started was simple: unpack, put in the filter, and plug it in. The machine was loud on the high setting, but the sound was actually very calming (perfect to sleep with). For the first time in as long as I can remember, I slept soundly! I woke up with clear sinuses and when I walked into the living room, I could not smell a hint of the cat litter! This model has the ideal power and efficacy for medium-sized rooms. I'm glad I did not purchase Honeywell's pricier model.

Worth while investment. October 26, 2006 Reviewer:  Matt S See all my reviews >

My son has major skin and allergy problems, so this has been on in his room 24 hrs per day for the 15 months. The light just went on to replace the HEPA filter and the pre-filter is about every 3 months. If you saw the crude on the pre-filter you would understand how well it works. The pre-filter is about 5 minutes to change and as is the HEPA. I am looking at the cleanable HEPA but do I want to vacuum up the crude or just throw it out every year?

Nice for 1 Room Apartment August 24, 2007 Reviewer:  PlusOne "Eschew obfuscation" (Houston, TX United States)  See all my reviews >

Being a Graduate Student on a budget, I wanted the most for my money. After reading up on air purifiers, there just wasn't enough hard scientific data to back up the ionizer feature which seemed to cost a little more.

Since I have a HEPA vaccum and use it a few times a week, I figured I could do without an ionizer. I chose this product because of the permenant True Hepa filter, cost of the pre-filter and permenant filter replacement (if needed), and the 200sq ft capacity.

The "IFD" and "Hepa-type" products do not filter at the same percentages as the "True Hepa" standard. Thse were roughly in the same price level so I went with the True Hepa.

A permenant filter saves money, and if I did want to buy a new one, the cost was affordable. Same with the prefilters, and they use charcoal, so if I wash them before they get too dirty, I won't have to buy any.

As for noise: HIGH it's like "white noise" and sounds like my car AC. MED is not bad, less noise and I can study with it on. LOW is fine for sleeping.

Great buy for my apartment!

Love it! January 2, 2008 Reviewer:  Sarah (Indianapolis, IN)  See all my reviews >

My husband and I used to have 3 of the old honeywell purifiers--the ones about 2x this size and 5x as loud. This works just as well, if not better. Plus, the HEPA filter does not have to be replaced often (if at all), saving a lot of maintenance costs over the old purifiers. We keep this in the bedroom and it has helped both of our allergies.

WHAT YOU DON'T KNOW October 22, 2006 Reviewer:  Kathy See all my reviews >

There are 2 filters for this item--the HEPA is "permanent" but the pre-filter you have to buy approximately every 3 months. Also, should you need to relace the permanent HEPA filter you have to buy 2 filters. I though that the maintenance was too expensive so I returned it--I AM UNSURE ABOUT HOW WELL THE PRODUCT WORKS MY RATING IS BASED ON THE MAINTENANCE COST.

Amazing for the price November 16, 2008 Reviewer:  Sniffing Clear (El Segundo)  See all my reviews >

This is a replacement for my other unit I bought 8 years ago. I ran the other one almost every day. I am hoping this gives me another 8 years. Also the vacuumable filter is a great touch with only having to spend bucks every 6 months for the pre filter (pre-filter package has enough for 2 replacements). s Other units cost as much as $60 a year for filters.

It is not Quiet November 3, 2008 Reviewer:  Andie (California)  See all my reviews >

They call this quiet care, it is not quiet. I bought two of them, one for the living room and the other for the bedroom. We set up the one in the living room and it is so loud that we will not be able to put the other in the bedroom. The other thing they advertised is that the filter is permanent and that is true, but they never mention that there is a pre-filter that has to be replace every four month at a cost [...]. The unit does clean the air.

I have 3 of these , ,I went to the store to get replacement filter that wraps around the core (main filter)
I have had mine over 2 yr , when I was in Target , I was amzed @ the price (in-store) of the unit 99.99, and wrap around filter 9.99 , 15.99 everywhere else , and the unit is everywhere else, Now , you know what gets in your vaccum , well , u will be amazed @ the dirt in the air ,I smoke ,& have dogs & cats , no one can believe I smoke in the house , it keeps the air so clean, I also have the tower in the computer room , door is always shut , yet , it pulls dirt out of the air , and no dust in your house!Remember to prime your unit every couple days , (2 buttons on the unit ) The main Filter never gets dirt on it, once u clean your air , you will take it with you !

Quiet - works great September 22, 2009 Reviewer:  Average Joe "Kurt" (Phoenix, AZ)  See all my reviews >

I bought three of them to control the pet dander in my house. The machine is very quiet and is built very well.
