This was the first vaccum I bought after moving into my own place. It was affordable and I've had it for four years now. Once the band snapped but it was my fault (let a shoelace get sucked into it). It was easy enough to replace. For the price, it's a been a good vaccum. The hose doesn't have very strong suction, but it does the trick on light stuff (like dust or cobwebs). I have two cats too and it seems to suck their fur up pretty well. I've been happy with it. The fliter does need to be replace pretty regularly, but it's easy to do.

I've had this vacuum for almost 2 years. It was AMAZING when I first got it. I was so impressed with what it picked up! However, I've recently noticed that it is not picking up as well. I have changed the filter and looked for blockage and cannot find a thing. I would recommend spending a little more and get something that might last longer.

I wish I never bought this vacuum. While vacuuming different carpets, one low pile and one berber worked great. Then I noticed that it left a burn mark where the vacuum was idling for 10 or 15 seconds. I told my wife not to use it, but she vacuumed our berber and now its also has a 15" burn marking on it. Thanks Hoover for this cheap chinese special.

This vacuum has suction power like I've never had in a vacuum before. It picked up things from my carpet I was embarassed to find there. However, when I use the tool attachments, the carpet beater doesn't stop rotating. It actually burned through the vinyl on one of my seat cushions. Overall, it's a really strong vacuum, and you can't beat it for the price. Just don't put it up on any chairs that can't take the heat.

I greatly regret having bought this vacuum. I had high hopes for it, given that it is a Hoover, but have been greatly disappointed in its performance. When it comes to hard floors (such as tile and wood) this vacuum tends to spit particles around rather than suck them up. It is very frustrating to have to repetitively go back and vacuum areas already completed because the vacuum has dirtied them up with blown around particles. I plan to donate this vacuum to Good Will.

I'm afraid the first poster was just wrong. Although the names are similar, careful comparison of the model numbers show that the Widepath that was ranked as 6th on Consumer Reports is not this one (which is collapsible and bagless.) This corresponds to the 34th entry and scored low marks on carpet and on airflow. Twenty dollars more than the retail path for the better one, I think this isn't such a great buy.

I bought this vacume after someone from work brought me a consumer report on the top 100 vacumes. I looked for price first and saw this vacume was #6 on the list one above the dyson. So I went online and read everyones reviews and decided to purches this vacume. Let me tell you, when you turn it on you can feel the power, this vacume is truley the best I've ever owned. It's light weight, powerful and easy to monuver. You'll love everything about it.

After reading some other reviews I decided to purchase this vacuum. The evening that it arrived, we took it right out of the box, plugged it in and vacuumed away. I was totally amazed at what it picked up. I couldn't believe that the old vacuum was leaving so much dirt behind! I think this thing is great and would recommend it to anyone!

With two Labs and a cat running around our house, this picks up all the dog and cat hair. Has made a big difference it the way our house smells. Great vacuum!

I bought this vacuum. What a big mistake. It's completely useless on wooden floors. It tends to blow hairs and dust around rather than actually vacuum. It's heavy and impossible to manuever around anything other than a perfectly square space. It's so huge, forget about using it in anything apart from carpeted large rooms.
We ended up buying another vacuum, (canister version) and are much happier.
