I got this steam cleaner for Christmas in 2007. I have used it multiple times on my carpet, my daughter's carpet, my mother-in-law has used it a few times in her house, and it is still going strong and cleaning well. The only problem we have had at all is a piece of the plastic broke around the handle on the dirty water tank. But, it has not affected any of the works of the steamer overall. We are getting one for my mother-in-law for mother's day. We have had no motor problems, or suction problems, or anything at all and we have used it at least once a month for the last 18 months. Our house is 2600 sq ft, so that is alot of carpet cleaning and it looks really good when we clean the carpet with it.

I bought this cleaner over the standard model because of the extra features. It has a seperate soap chamber and mixs it as needed. This allows you to rinse without having to empty the hot water tank. A big plus. I cleaned a very dirty biege carpet the day I bought it and was amazed at the job it did. The carpet truley looked new. The areas that I thougt was clean turned the water a dark brown and the really dirty areas took a little extra cleaning but did come clean. I didn't think a home cleaner could do such a great job. I wish I had bought it years ago. This machine is worth the money.

I've had this steam cleaner for 3 years. It does clean the carpet really well but 3 months after buying it the parts just started breaking. At first it was the locks that hold the dirty water tank, then the attachments and finally the clean water/solution tank cracked. the parts are made of the cheapest thinnest plastic. And the replacement parts are really expensive!! On top of the cost I paid for it, I've spent OVER [..] in replacement parts!!

I love this steam vac! My carpets have never looked better. It is so easy to use and works so well. To the people complaining of cheap parts... all Hoovers have a one year warranty so you shouldn't need to pay for any replacement parts in the first year. Just take it in to a Hoover store.

I bought the Steam Vac over a year ago. I have used it many times. It works wonderfully. We did have to have a belt replaced, costing about a few dollars, but the vacuum has a large storage area for both clean and dirty water so you're not changing it out all the time. We use very hot tap water and it works great. We also use the hose extension to clean stairs, etc and that works well enough.

I bought this machine in 2006. Here it is, end of 2009, and the brushes stopped working. Won't clean carpet very well without brushes, so now it's junk. I had to replace the water/cleaning fluid tank last year to the tune of 69.00. I spent 299.00 plus tax, and don't intend to spend anymore on it. It did an ok job, while it worked. Messy to fill, empty, always left a puddle of water when not running. Not real happy with this machine. Now I'm off to purchase another model. Hope it lasts longer than 3 years.....
