Do not buy, inherently unsafe July 9, 2007 Reviewer:  J. Rosenberg "Jenrose" Real Name (OR)  See all my reviews >

I love ring slings and pouches. But this product scares me. I have one. It is technically rated, I believe, to 20 pounds. I am not skinny. I tightened it to the tightest setting, put my 20 pound child in it, and it sagged almost to my knees!

Worse, the "secure swaddling belt" locks the baby in a potentially lethal position, one which causes the head to be pushed to the chest (or rolled in to mama's body), which on newborns can compromise the airway quickly. I know someone who is doing oxygenation research on various infant carriers, to see how well young babies do in them, and this one scares us all, the results of several of her tests were frightening. The position it locks the baby into is actually wrong for this class of carrier. You never want a baby "parallel" to the edges of the sling, you want them at an angle so they are supported well and have good airflow.

The airflow on this is terrible--when baby is in it, they hang low and are completely out of sight, the fabric closes around them and I can't imagine anyone being able to nurse in this easily. Those who want a snug sling should be looking at the Hotslings and Peanut Shells, not this. Keep your baby where you can see them, where they can see you, and in a position they can breathe easily.

This is simply a terrible design and should not be used. Its "security" is misleading. A wrap or pouch will keep your baby secure, close to you, and will allow them better airflow if worn properly.

Life Saver February 1, 2007 Reviewer:  Nola's Mommy (New Jersey)  See all my reviews >

We got this pouch when my baby was about a month old and seemed to be colicy for a while. Having her close was just the trick; she is 2 months now and she is hardly ever unconsolable since we have this. She usually falls asleep once she is in it, which is great since she isn't much of a daytime napper.
My husband also loves it since he feels like its a great bonding experience.
*Other reviews mentioned danger of suffication; like anything, you can't just stick them in there and forget about them - they are babies, they need to be checked on often. As for the opening being too small when they are in it, I find if you fold the padded part of the stap in half over your shoulder it opens it more in addition to adding more padding for the comfort of your shoulder. Also as she is getting bigger it getting a bit tuff on my back and tends to smush her head a bit but strangely if you position the carrier the opposite way that the instructions tell you, the wide stap on your back helps with the weight distribution and the narrower end of the sack gives her more head room - Its great again sice I realized its better this way. Makes the pocket more accesible too.

The Sleep Machine! April 30, 2009 Reviewer:  Sydney See all my reviews >

I am completely blown away by the negative reviews. This sling has been an absolute life saver for me. When I came home from the hospital with my newborn and my 2 1/2 year old I was overwhelmed by the lack of freedom that I had. I was constantly putting my newborn down in her bouncer or swing to run and do something for my toddler. This sling was my answer. No more running around trying to soothe a screaming baby and help a fussy toddler. I just put my newborn in the sling and she's asleep within MINUTES and she can stay close to me while I don't have to neglect my toddler's needs either. My favorite feature of this sling is the padding on the inside, my newborn is so comfortable and supported when I need to use both hands. Also the mesh sides are amazing! My one and only complaint is the shoulder strap is quite large so it often creeps up onto my neck. For some of the parents with negative reviews about their baby not liking this product I would say, first, don't try this for the first time when your baby is screaming, calm her down then place her inside. If she fusses when you put her in give her 15 minutes and go for a little walk. It's just like most things that newborns encounter for the first time.

Great Sling April 29, 2009 Reviewer:  Shawn Delia (Tempe, AZ)  See all my reviews >

I used this to go shopping in stores, through the airport, and walks. My baby boy loves it. As soon as I put him in he falls right to sleep. It helps to keep germs away from your baby and strangers wanting to touch. I went to the airport and when I was getting the boarding pass for my son, the person helping me was like "where is the child" most people don’t even know you have a baby in there. The only drawback is it can be a little bouncy when you walk but I think that helps to sooth my baby.

great especially for breast-feeding January 31, 2009 Reviewer:  Doc Mom (Tampa, Fl)  See all my reviews >

New Mom and I wanted a sling so that I could not only be hands free but could breastfeed while out and about and not have to worry about fussing with a blanket or such. I am tall almost 6 feet tall and my newborn was 8lbs. She LOVED the sling, still does and is almost 5 months old. I used it everytime I would go out. My daughter loved how close she was to me and would snuggle down and sleep in it most of the time. I would feed her in it and be able to shop at the grocery store at the same time.

I really liked the elastic on the sides, which I found lacking in the other slings on the market. Plus the pouch on the side was great to store cell phone and keys while out and about. Highly recommend having one!

Great keeping lil' one close January 30, 2007 Reviewer:  Elijah's Mommy "Joanna" (California)  See all my reviews >

This is awesome. I highly recommend it for having baby close and being able to have your hands free - especially when shopping or busy around the house. I went to boutiques and saw they sold the same thing for over $95... go with this one, it's comfy and I know my baby's secure.

I made it work January 19, 2007 Reviewer:  Guia (Los Angeles, CA, USA)  See all my reviews >

I had to modify this sling to make it work. I found that it didn't have enough head and back support so my daughter just disappeared in it. I put a folded baby blanket in it and that provided the support I was looking for. I was concerned with my baby overheating so I kept checking her to be sure (please do so if you get this product). Also, I adjusted the strap to its shortest so my baby is close and snug against me, otherwise the sling just bangs on my body. My baby liked sleeping in it (with the added blanket).

BAG SLINGS ARE DANGEROUS!!! July 22, 2009 Reviewer:  Elisabeth, "Mom to 3 girls" (Chapel Hill, NC USA)  See all my reviews >

This type of sling is known as a "bag sling", and it is not safe to use. The pouch is too deep, which makes it very difficult if not impossible to position your baby correctly. Your baby should NEVER be curled with their chin on their chest, as it restricts their airway and impairs their breathing. The high, elasticized sides close over the baby, making it hard to see and monitor him properly. The mesh sides do NOT help with incorrect positioning. Using a baby carrier is a terrific way to bond with your baby and be hands-free, but PLEASE research safety and avoid this and other bag slings. There are other great choices of baby carriers - including slings - on target.com that are safer.

Great Sling! July 17, 2009 Reviewer:  Frannie N. See all my reviews >

I have a Baby Bjorn carrier at home which I love but wanted an additional sling because I find the Bjorn uncomfortable at times. This one works great, the mesh sides are awesome because I know my baby gets air. My baby was born 22.5 inches long and now at 6 wks is 24 inches. He seems to be outgrowing this sling already due to his length. The strap is a little bit too big for my taste, but very soft so still comfortable. My son falls asleep as soon as I put him in it. We've used it a lot of times, even going to the movies, he never wiggles. I mainly bought this because it said that it's great for discreet nursing, but have found that I've pulled the strap as tight as it goes and it's still far from reaching my breasts. That would really be my only complaint.

Great for infants April 20, 2009 Reviewer:  Caffine Addict "Mommy Stephy" (Las Vegas)  See all my reviews >

I was a little confused when i put it on without my baby in it and it was uncomfortable, but once I put my baby in it it became very comfortable and not in the way and very usefull.

This is great for my baby girl since she likes to be next to me all the time!
I am on the computer a lot because my schooling is through the computer, and it's very difficult to hold her while trying to type and use the mouse. Boppys work okay but i still have to have an arm around her because I fear of her rolling off of it.
But the sling rider works perfect, shes close to me, i can do everything i need and I can take care of her too.
