It hardly makes any noise so it is great to have in your living room. It does seem that it needs to be cleaned pretty regularly so I guess it's cleaning my air. It's very hard to tell, though so I will assume it's working!

I bought this from another store about three years ago and I must say it is the best cleaner I ever had, and still have. The ones that use filters push a lot more air but also make noise when you are trying to sleep. This thing is silent even at night. When you clean it you wonder where did all that dirt come from. It even catches viruses.
The downside is I never seen the cleaning light go on. Even after two months of continuos use. If you hear it making a humm its either because it needs to be cleaned or the humidity in you house is to high. Also, the rumor is it emits harmful ozone but it does have a catalyst to reduce the ozone.
I still give this a 5 star because it will collect the finest and smallest particles floating around the room. Even orders. I want another one.

We purchased this from [another retailer]. We noticed a difference in the air quality. It did leave a chlorine-like smell in the room. The only reason we don't have it anymore if because our toddler kept knocking it over and ended up breaking it.

Surprisingly good air flow in operation, nearly silent, full length ozone screens minimize ozone odors, low electrical current of only 16 watts on high. I wish my unit worked longer than two hours before quitting, cleaning the grids didn't help. I've ordered a replacement since I was very pleased with the units performance and air freshening ability when working. I purchased this item because it says it catches viruses including the cold and flu virus. I provide in-home childcare for multiple families and this time of year it seems like the kids are always sick. I also have a cat and and a dog and thought it would help control animal oder and dander. I dont care for the way the ozone smell comes out of it but it does make it smell clean. It is completely silent and works quickly, it is the best addition to my daycare that I could have purchased. I use it downstairs during the day and upstairs while we are sleeping so it cleans out the entire house.

I WAS SKEPTICAL, BUT AFTER ONE DAY I NOTICED A DIFFERENCE WHEN I WENT INTO OUR LIVINGROOM/DININGROOM AREA. WE RUN IT ON THE HIGH SETTING AS WE ARE A SMOKING HOUSEHOLD AND THERE IS A NOTICEABLE DIFFERENCE IN AIR QUALITY. WE ALSO NOTICE A DIFFERENCE IN OUR ALLERGIES - EYES RUN A LITTLE LESS, LESS NASAL STUFFINESS. I AM GOING TO BUY ONE FOR OUR BEDROOM WHERE WE DO NOT SMOKE AND WILL PROBABLY BE ABLE TO RUN IT ON LOW OR MEDIUM. LOVE THE PRODUCT. WE LIVE IN S. FLA WHERE IS IS HOT & HUMID AND WINDOWS ARE ALMOST ALWAYS CLOSED SO THIS IS PERFECT FOR US.

While reading the reviews, I read the one where the machine kept quitting saying it needed to be cleaned...I wondered how dirty the house was. But the same thing happened to us and I know our place isn't that dirty. I called the company and they told us it was defective! We exchanged it and I absolutly LOVE IT!!! We couldn't ask for anything better! We are going to get one for the downstairs very soon!! I would recommend this to everyone!!

After about fifteen minutes this unit would turn off and the "clean" light would come on. After this happened several times I call the Ionic Customer help number. The person I spoke to went through the how to clean procedure. I tried to explain that I had just purchased it and that it had only run for a total of about one hour out of the first twenty-four. I went through the cleaning procedure and it continued to turn off after about fifteen minutes. I finally returned it for a refund.
