It's very easy to use - I was pitting cherries for my toddler daughter to enjoy. It's powerful enough to push thru the pitt without tearing up the meat of the cherry. It is still a bit messy - the work area still got a bit messy with the cherry juice. So I put down a few paper towels under the bowls I was using to catch the juice spatter and pits. I'd rather give it a 3.5 than a 4 rating.

I expected better from KitchenAid. The hole is way too small. (I didnt even attempt olives)
The locking latch is a joke and gets in the way when you are trying to use it. Maybe I just got a defective one but I'm going to return it and try the Oxo brand.
