The Ladies Roxie Cruiser is an excellent buy. I have shopped high and low and found this bike to be the perfect fit for casual riding with the family. The negative comments in some of the other reviews are unfounded. The bike is barely assembled at the store. The tires are not fully aired up and the rear wheel is not squared as well as the gear system not trimmed. No wonder the chain would come off if you try to ride in the store.
Low tire pressure will make the bike ride very heavy, so make sure you have a full 40 pounds as labeled on the tires each time you ride. Tire pressure makes a world of difference in how the bike "climbs up hills".
Ride height are critical to comfort and safety, the seat must be adjusted so the rider can have one foot on the ground and the other leg slightly bent with the pedal in the top position. If the brake were to fail, just drag your foot and step down, surely you dont plan on racing on a ladies cruiser! If you expect no sounds or clanks on a first ride then get a bike with no fenders and chain guard. Fenders must be tightened and aligned and so must the chain guard.
Simple Cruisers at your local "hip" bike shop are upwards of [...] dollars with only one gear and a coaster brake. Their brands are unknown to me and I bet finding Schwinn parts will be alot easier than some import "hip" Bike.
Overall this bike is well made and will last a lifetime if properly maintained. Tape a calendar to the seat and make a note each time you go riding, this may help you to determine how much bike you really need. If you find you don't ride as much as you thought you did then maybe it's not the bike that is heavy and slow. :-) Happy riding!

the first time i purchased it in-store,i had to return it.the brakes stopped working within a few days!! I love this bike,so I just exchanged it.the only thing i don't like about this bike,is that it's difficult to find a basket for it,due to the spring in front? I was looking forward to going on bike rides with my chihuahua sitting in a cute little basket..:(
if anyone else has this bike and found a basket that works, let me know!!

I just purchased this bike this past weekend. It is absolutely adorable. When we got it home we had to fill the tires and adjust the brakes a bit, but I think that is totally normal. These bikes are being assembled in a warehouse and I would much rather tweak it then assemble the whole thing myself. My fiance and I each bought a bike and within 30 minutes of getting them home they were both ready to ride.
The bike itself is so comfortable. You sit straight-backed while you ride which is so much better than the hunchback position.
When we took the bike out of the car I heard a noise that other people have mentioned, the fender rubbing on the tire noise. We just kind of pushed on the fender to get it more centered on the tire. I am pretty sure it was off-centered just from laying down in the back of our truck.
We first looked in a real bike store, but our budget of spending about $400 for both bikes was almost laughed at. Anything that looks even remotely similar to this was just under $300 by itself!
I have no complaints about this bike at all. It is exactly what I was looking for, looks and works great!

I got this bike for xmas. I live in a town that is urban enough to walk every where, except that I'd rather bike around. This bike has been perfect so far. I put a basket on the front and it's been great to go to the store or run misc. errands. I haven't had any problem getting speed. It goes as fast as I want to go. The more I ride it (i.e. get in shape) the easier it is to ride. My town is flat so I don't have trouble with hills. The brake works great - every time I ride have to slam on the brake because of an unobservant driver so I am thankful it works so well. A major plus is that it looks cute. I get lots of complements. I feel safe riding it too.

My daughter and I both are TOTALLY into pink. Everything that we need that could possibly come in pink, we get. Family was not at all surprised that she wanted a pink cruiser for her 9th birthday.
Let me preface with this: my daughter is 5 feet tall and weighs 100lbs, so she's much bigger than most of her friends. I knew that this was technically an adult bike, but she hasn't had problems riding her best friend's adult bike, so I thought this would be perfect.
My father lowered the seat for her as low as it would go, but she complained about the position of the handlebars. Even though she's the size of a 12 year old, maybe her arms just aren't long enough. So I asked my father, who is 6'1", to try it out. He complained of the same thing.
I was willing to keep it for myself, or wait until she grew into it, but after she only rode it THREE times, the chain broke. I know chains break, I know these things happen, I know that technically I could buy a new one and repair it myself, but WHY IN THE HECK would a chain be breaking on a bike that has not even been rode very much?
This purchase was such a disappointment. Like I said, I really wanted to love this bike. We'll be taking it back to the store and telling them we consider it defective. And she'll get a small mountain bike.

Came in 3 days...easy to put together...solid frame...great tires...cute style...really nice seat...nice shade of pink...It took us a while to figure out we could raise the handlebars. Now it's a perfect fit.
The other reviews worried me a bit. They must have wanted one of those $400 bikes. For the money this was the best deal we could find. Happy Happy Happy

I purchased this bike and am completely satisfied, I think it is an exceptional value! I also experienced some of the complaints that others mentioned such as having problems with the first gear and the chain and the fenders rubbing the tires. However my husband fixed all of these problems and the bike works perfectly with NO problems. Others should have easily been able to fix their bikes like I did, there is no reason that this bike should be returned. Furthermore, you cannot find a better price for a Schwinn Bike, and especially one that looks so good! I highly recommend this bike!

I was in love when I saw this bike in the store, and couldn't wait to ride it when I got it home. On my first ride, I noticed two bothersome things--the seat was SO hard and very uncomfortable to ride on (but I don't have a WHOLE lot of cushion in that area, so that may have had something to do with it!), and the fenders clanged and rattled over the slightest bumps. My husband and I replaced the washers and nuts and bolts on the fenders, but they rattled right off during my next ride! The seat is also so wide, that I couldn't find just a slip-on seat cushion...Plus, I hated to cover up the vintage leather seat work!
I decided to return this one, and get the Schwinn Clear Creek ladies' bicycle, instead. I was disappointed in having to do this, especially since the Clear Creek is a little more expensive, but am looking forward to riding a bike I'm not scared will fall out from under me!

I saw this bike at the store and fell in love with it, mostly because of its retro look and color. So far it hasn't disappointed me. I was scared that I wouldn't be able to enjoy it because of my lower back problem but after a full day of riding, no problem at all! The seat bothers me a bit, but then again I'm a heavy girl, so lighter ones might not have a problem. About it's weight, i didn't find it heavy nor did i find it light as a feather, and I'm not a strong person at all. Also, do realize that it is a 26" tire. I'm about 5'4, the seat is at its lowest and i just about touch the ground. I have no problem because i can still reach the ground but my sister who is about 2-3" shorter fell off when she first tried to get on, its not impossible if your short but it takes practice like my sister :). I purchased it at the store so I didn't assemble it but the pamphlet explains every part and how to care for the bike. Over all, i love it, and people around my neighborhood seem to love it also. I read all the reviews before buying it, even the ones that rated it low but in the end I wouldn't trade it for another Cruiser.

Im a very different person and really into old fashioned things, so when i saw this bike a target i was instinatly hooked. It had everything i wanted in a bike...its vintage beach cruiser looks and gears to go up hill considering that i live in a hilly area. After when i purchesed the bike, i was super excited to go out and take it for a ride...but that ride didnt go over to well. Dont let the seven gears fool you as they did for me...i thought i was getting a good product bc i live in an area with some hills...but the bike can barley go up a small incline(and at first i thought i was just weak, but then i took my other mountian bike out and saw the difference).Once i had to walk my bike up the hill and it was so sad bc ppl just starred at me as i lugged the thing up the street...so i recommend this for more flat surfaces or areas near the beach...another thing about the bike is that it clanks alot...but i just advoid that by listening to my ipod...if you do buy this bike, i would recommend that you put tire wax on the fenders bc it will rust. IDK, this bike looks so good, but has problems.
