My son is only 4 months old, but loves to chew on anything that he can get into his mouth so he's likes this okay at the moment. It is bright and cheery and I like that it teaches English/Spanish words for the different colors. My two year old likes to push the buttons for the baby =) We'll see how interested he is when he's able to understand the concept of the older features.

Don't waste your money. All three of my children were not impressed with this item. It literally just sits there. It really doesnt do much. I was very disappointed in this item.

My two month old gave a BIG smile when greeted with the toy. He liked the rattle and the mirror. I imagine when a little older he will like to teeth on the tentacles. There are a couple settings for sound when the tentacles are pushed -- music, colors and rhymes. In the musical setting a note is sounded when the tentacle is pushed. I like that they don't set off an entire song in the musical setting. As he teethes on it, it will be less annoying for me not to have to listen to an entire song with every chew. I am not sure about the color setting. In this setting, the tentacles speak the color on it in both English and Spanish. My three year old is learning her colors and not interested in the toy and I doubt that if at 4 months my baby hears the colors it will mean he learns them any faster. We will probably keep it on the music setting and let him pick a favorite note as he welcomes his new teeth. The Rhyme setting uses the color name in a rhyme for example "Purple flowers, Spring showers" and has a sound effect of rain falling. Again, I am under no illusions that this will teach my infant his colors or how to rhyme; but, the sound effects will be interesting to him. Overall, a good toy for a baby with lots to look at, chew on (safely) and listen to.

I love most of Leapfrog Baby's infant toys, but I was disappointed in this one and will be exchanging it tomorrow. I thought it would sing songs, but each little tentacle just plays a single note, says a spanish and english color, or says a little rhyme. No fun songs! If you're looking for some catchy baby tunes, try the maracas or the counting pal worm. Those are great!!

Our 3 month old son just received this toy as a gift and it's quickly becoming one of his favorites! He loves to hear the different colors being spoken aloud with the corresponding Spanish word. There is also a feature that uses rhyming phrases with a neat sound effect which he really seems to love! The neck of the octopus is filled with a crinkly material which makes a cool sound when touched. A simple but great toy!

My son gets so bored with this toy. He won't even play with it. He loves music and this octopus only plays one single note on each color. It would be alot better if it played music.
