My daughters loved this train set and they are always wanting to go to their friends house to play with it. I plan on getting them this for Christmas and have it set up around the tree. I have already put it together once and it is not the easyist task. It takes at least 30 minutes for me to set up. It is a great train set and I think my daughters will like it too. But check the price twice.

My family is so far pleased with the Lionel Trains Polar Express set (0-gauge). We just got it and set it up to test it. It was really easy!
It looked really neat to see the passenger cars lighted up when the train was running.
NOTE: We are looking forward to obtain extra FastTrack (6 stright track 10" and some (2 or 4) curved FastTrack 036 (in order to extend the lenght in our set up). Thanks.

With all the video games and modern electronics, some may find this "hard to run" or "difficult to manage". However, if you value this item as these trains were valued 20 years ago, it's a great toy or hobby. Half the fun is setting the track. The second half is running the train. If you don't have the patients or skill to work a hobby-like toy, then you should not purchase this item. With this set, you are the conductor and can have countless hours of fun using your imagination while learning a little engineering on the side. Don't throw it at a 3-yr old, but participate and have fun supervising, and playing, with your children.

I have this Lionel set and cannot figure out what the review from "Mad Mom" below is based on. Piecase of Lionel's FastTrack go together with a sharp snap and stay together so well you can hang a circle of it on the wall for storage insead of taking it apart. Perhaps her Polar Express goes off the track because it is being run too fast? Otherwise, I have never experienced such a problem.

I BOUGHT THIS ITEM FOR MY SON FOR CHRISTMAS. IT IS NOT A GOOD TOY FOR ANY CHILD. NOT WORTH THE PRICE. THE TRACK DOES NOT STAY TOGETHER. THE TRAIN WILL NOT STAY ON TRACK. NEVER GOT THE TRAIN TO GO AROUND ONE TIME WITHOUT PARENTS HELPING IT ALONG THE WAY. I WOULD OF RETURNED IT BUT, WITH THE CHRISTMAS SHUFFLE WE THROW AWAY THE BOX.
