This hutch looks good after being put together, but the assembly was frustrating. The pieces didn't line up easily, the screws didn't catch in the wood, and we had to take it apart and try again a number of times. It doesn't lie completely level on the desk either -- it functions just fine, but is slightly off the desk at one end. If you need a hutch for some books or minimal storage, this is fine, but you need to be good at putting these things together to make it worthwhile.

If you want the hutch, it does look nice. Just expect to be playing with allen wrenches and a screwdriver for a while. All those little pieces need to be held together somehow-- it's easy, but tedious. Another surprise was that it doesn't physically attach to the desk. Not a problem if you don't crash into your furniture a lot.

If you're getting the desk I definitely recommend the hutch. It's very easy to assemble and gives the desk a great touch. It's really nice for decorations, a lamp, or notebooks. I have my lamp, radio, some picture frames on the top and my books and DSL box fit perfectly in the little slots.

I was reading the other reviews saying how hard this was to put together. Maybe they meant the desk because this was a snap, only taking about 10 minutes---and a couple of those minutes were fudge time because I tend to put sides on backwards. I own a different style desk, yet this turned out to truly be the right color and size for what I already have, so the color shown online is true. It makes my desk look much nicer and adds all the extra space I needed.
