A Solid Chair to Match the Desk

Reviewer:  Susan Entwistle  (MD)  See all my reviews

Real Name

Bought this for the quilting studio to match the trestle desk. Again, a beautiful, sturdy product. A bit more complicated to assemble than the desk (hard to turn some of the screws with that darn allen wrench between the slats), but after an hour I had it together. Again, the 'antique' is some very slight black distressing (like a black smudge) along an edge or two, just like the desk--no biggie. The chair is super sturdy, and I'm sure if I weren't in a carpeted room, it would roll freely. Being wood, it's not the most comfortable chair to sit on for hours on end, but a nice little cushion would certainly add to it's charm and comfort. If you bought the desk and you're queer for things being matchy-matchy, get the chair too. You won't regret it.

will not last long term

Reviewer:  lpdmd  See all my reviews

I purchased this chair to match a desk from PB-their chair was twice as much $. Now I know why. The chair is okay, but the screws that hold the wheels in are all bent and I haven't had it that long. I cannot find new wheels that fit this chair so it looks like I'll need to get a whole new one. Not from here though!!

Paint is all marked up!!

Reviewer:  K. Childs-Lopez  (Richmond, MA.)  See all my reviews

I bought two of these chairs for my daughters rooms. When I opened the first the paint had black marks and scratched . It's nearly impossible to repackage this to send it back. I put it all together but will have to spray paint the whole piece. So, I thought I'd take a chance and see what the second one looked like. Exactly the same. TArget would not sell this because it's just not up to their quality standards if they saw my 2 chairs. HORRIBLE QUALITY!!!

Nice chair but mediocre quality

Reviewer:  Stephanie "Stephanie"  (Northern California)  See all my reviews

We purchased this chair in late October 2007, the chair looks similar to our [upscale] chairs & is astatically appealing. However, it is now 7 months later and the quality of the chairs has been noticeably depreciating. The biggest problem is the screws in the bottom wheels, they are slowly unwinding themselves & becoming bent. The armrests are also not very sturdy. An Okay purchase for the price but this will not last over time.

Very, very hard to put together...

Reviewer:  melonball3 ""New Homeowner""  (Philadelphia, PA)  See all my reviews

I purchased this chair based on looks (just like another rustic retailer's chair). I got it in the mail quickly, and started to put it together. Directions were very clear and explicit, parts were marked well. However, the holes were not drilled in the right places and none of the pieces fit together snuggly. So the back of the chair ended up about an inch from the bottom -- when I tightened the screws, the screw went through the wood in the back of the chair, ruining the chair. I am very savvy at assembling furniture, but this one was just a beast. The allen wrench they give doesn't fit into the angles that the pre-drilled holes are at, so you really have to do quarter-turns until it is tight. After an hour and a half and only having the back and bottom together, I gave up and returned it to the store near me. I would try it again if they offered to ship it for free -- the chair looks like it has potential.

great office chair

great quality office chair. It is well built and is made of very sturdy/heavy wood. The only reason I made it 4 stars instead of 5 is because the armrests seem to be just a little too high. Overall, a great purchase!!

I wanted to love it...

Reviewer:  Debra Schorn  (Lockhart, TX)  See all my reviews

This chair is very attractive, the wood is solid and the size is good. However, it was very hard to put together. I had to call for missing parts, and one of the predrilled holes for the armrest was not drilled, so I had to get my drill out and make the hole myself. The finish chips off easily, and worst of all, after about 8 months of daily use, one of the casters snapped off today.

Still, it's a good price for an office chair. I suppose you get what you pay for.

Wheel Broke Off & Arm is Loose

Reviewer:  A. Dooley  (Montana)  See all my reviews

Real Name

I bought this chair in Aug. of 2006 [...]. I liked the look of it and it matched the desk that I also bought from Target. A few months ago I was sitting in the chair and one of the wheels completely broke off. Part of the screw is stuck in the chair and the other in the wheel. Also, I could never get one of the arms to completely screw in, so it has been loose since I bought it. My seat also cracked and the paint has worn away on parts of the arms. I wouldn't recommend this chair, especially not for the price.

I Like It

Reviewer:  Elana  (Kona, HI)  See all my reviews

Overall I like it. Real sturdy, comfy, lots of seat room. I bought it to match the desk. It was a pain in the butt to put together - wish they had used regular screws so we could use our drill instead of the allen wrench. The distressing looks a little like blue paint got on it - I'll probably take some sandpaper to it to distress it a little more. So far, I'm happy with it.

Poor Quality Zero Stars

Reviewer:  UNHAPPY CUSTOMER  (Huntingdon Vally PA)  See all my reviews

I purchased this chair in November 2006. I use this chair in an upstairs office and it is used about once a week. I am a small person and only weigh 108 pounds. The other day April 17th, 2007, I noticed that the wooden seat was cracking in the middle of the seat. I contacted customer service and they told me since it was more than 90 days since my purchase date they would not return the item. They told me to contact the manufacturer. When I contacted the manufacturer they stated there is no warranty on this chair and the defective seat would not be replaced. I purchased a chair that lasted less than six months. I am very unhappy with the product and unhappy that Target refused to stand behind this low quality, defective product. DO NOT PURCHASE THIS CHAIR!!!!
