Not worth the money

I wanted to like this futon, so I ordered it despite the bad reviews. First off, when I opened the box, I noticed the frame is gun metal grey...not silver. Secondly I noticed that I only had the bottom portion of the frame. There was no back section or legs in the box. The flyer that came with the futon gave an 800# for missing parts. After calling 6 times and only getting an answering machine, I looked up American Furniture Alliance and dialed their direct line. The receptionist was nice enough to put me through to a real person. The gentleman I spoke with was very short, only asking for my address, then stated he'd ship me the missing parts. [...]
So here I wait for my missing pieces(2 weeks after receiving my futon). Upon inspecting piece I DO have, I can see how shoddy the welds are. The cushions are comfortable, but cheaply made. Cotton batting is coming out of the seams already.
I just returned from local target to see the Euro Futon [...] on sale, and its made 1000X better than the this mali flex junk. It has good welds, and metal cross bars instead wood planks with cheap plastic clips. I'm kicking myself for not waiting longer and getting that futon instead. I would have saved myself money and headache.

would NOT recommend buying this futon. the cushion is cheap and guaranteed to flatten out in short time, offering no support; causing the wooden planks from underneath to hit your rear end/ tailbone when sitting. guests complain how uncomfortable it is all the time. only good mention is arms folds down, and is lengthy enough to sleep on- only if you like the stiff/ firm feel.

The futon looks great, but it was shipped without the screws and bolts so i had to wait a few days for the manufacturer. After sitting for awhile i could feel the wooden slats under my butt and yes its true...the back cushion does slide down. i gave this a two because it looks good and it will work fine as long as you don't plan on keeping it too long or actually using it on a daily basis to entertain.

read through these reviews and don't get suckered by how cute it looks, like I did. This thing is ok, but only if you want an uncomfortable poorly made piece of furniture. The basic design is fun, and I haven't seen many like this one, but the cushion wears out within about a week, and unless you go buy additional padding to use, youre out of luck. plus, you could have just spent the same money on a better model!
as a bed this is worthless unless you are about five feet tall and sleep perfectly still. it's a bit creaky and narrow, so you can't move from side to side at all.
I do think it's cute, but only to have in a spare room, my 13yr old sister claimed it was too hard and squeaky to sleep on, so I've relocated it to the spare room because this way that room can be used as a videogame area and the futon is used mainly as a couch.

Wood planks underneath the cushions broke after a few months of use and there's no way to fix it. The quality on this thing is not up to par.

While the adjustable sides is a cool feature, the back pillow will not stay on let alone up, you lean back and get a bar smack dab in the middle of your back! Comfortable for napping, NOT for sitting, and I wouldn't recommend sleeping on this, it's not as wide as a twin but so wide it's uncomfortable to sit on.

Because I want to sleep on it I had to buy a "real" futon mattress (and then add a foam mattress on that). I use one end up to make a chaise for watching TV. It's best to think of this as a futon which can occasionallly be disguised as a sofa (when visitors come by). Since the back of the sofa isn't really a back (it's an upside-down-U that the back pillow just rests against... you really have to sit exactly in the middle to keep from falling backwards). For those who complain that the wooden slats break, I believe the manual says this holds up to 300 pounds.

It's a pretty cheap futon, but it works for me and my two dogs. I wouldn't recommend using it daily or for hard wear-n-tear. I would recommend it to someone who has the occasional guest, but wont be usuing it all the time. It is very comfortable to sleep on, I tested it out the first night I got it.

This is a very comfortable futon. The cushion is thick and does not mat down and get flat. It is easy to wipe clean. It was also easy to put together. I like that it goes into a varity of positions. This makes it easy to lay back and watch TV.
