I have flat nipples and had such tremendous difficulty breastfeeding my firstborn daughter. in the hospital with my second one the nurse brought me this to help my second daughter latch and the difference is amazing. it gives the baby something to suck and actually helps draw out the nipple at the same time so eventually you can wean the baby off. the difference is amazing and i wish i had been shown this product with my first daughter! i have also heard that for people whose nipples are sore or cracked it can provide relief for that as well.

I received this shield in the hospital b/c my son couldn't latch; I have flat nipples and he would get really frustrated b/c there wasn't anything to grab. This shield really helped b/c he has something to grab and also it keeps him from pinching me while he's nursing. I bought 2 more after we were discharged so I could keep one in the diaper bag and have another on hand; I will probably end up buying a couple more to cut down on all the washing - they can go in the dishwasher but we only need to run ours every other day or so. I am so glad the lactation consultant suggested these, b/c I'd have had to feed formula otherwise.

This is a wonderful product for a first time nursing mother. My son had a recessed chin and had difficulty latching on. I used this and it made everything so much easier. My only complaint would be that its clear in color so we had some problems finding it at times but for the price you can buy extras. If you really want to breastfeed and are having problems you really should try this before giving up.

My twins were born @ 27 weeks, and when starting to nurse, this made it SOOO much easier for them!! They both change from bottle to shield to [...] rather easily!! It's much easier for them to latch on with the shield, so anyone with a baby struggling to latch on (even a frustrated baby), this is a LIFE saver!!!

I needed to use one for only a few days (the price is very affordable), while I was horribly sore and had some problems with cracking and bleeding. It allowed me to continue breastfeeding and allowed me to heal at the same time. It was a life saver. I definitely recommend it to anyone who needs to give their nipples a break while keeping up the breastfeeding.

I gave up on breastfeeding way to early with my first baby. Luckily I found this sheild and used it with my other two. It gave my nipples a chance to heal. I highly recommend this product to anyone. It's worth every penny.

If you have tramatized nipples this is the product for you!! I had no trouble with my baby latching on or inverted nipples but a few weeks into breastfeeding I developed a "crack" on the side of both nipples. After much pain and crying I consulted my lactation consultant and was told that I did not have enough of my breast in my daughters mouth resulting in tramatized nipples. Once that was fixed the pain eased up but the cracks turned into large open wounds that covered half of my nipples. I had half of my nipple missing on both breasts but I was determined to keep going. At my 6 week appointment I showed my doctor and she told me that the only way for my breasts to heal was to stop breastfeeding. This was heartbreaking!! As a last ditch effort and on the advice of my sister, who had a friend who used this product for latching on problems, I bought the nipple sheild. With in 3 weeks I am totally healed!! The sheild allowed her to nurse without streching out the skin and allowed the sores to heal. I am not sure I my daughter will ever breastfeed with out it because she has gotten so used to it but it was totally worth it to be able to contiue to breastfeed her.

Was given this nipple shield in the hospital after my son was born. So thankful! I was determined to breastfeed even with flat/inverted nipples. This product made it possible.

If I didn't get this from the hospital I think breast feeding would have been horrible! After giving birth to my son we tried breast feeding and of course for all moms and the newborn it is new...so since my son was so eager and i think frustrated he ripped both my nipples! So since he did that we tried the nipple shield to help him latch on and we had to use it for a month because he wouldn't take my bare breast (if that's what it takes to make him feel comfortable to breast feed then so be it) but daily I would switch him to my bare breast to ween him and finally after a month he took the bare breast (he probably realized how much easier it was without the shield! This helped my son and I get used to latching on and feeling comfortable with breast feeding. So if you are having trouble with latching definately give this a try
