We bought this chart with the hopes that our 3 yr old son would improve in his self-discipline. We had no idea how much easier it would make our lives! We use it as a daily reward system, not weekly like it suggests. For each thing he has done (i.e. shared something without us prompting him) we give him one magnet. Each day after dinner we let him "cash in" his magnets for items of his choice. He can choose from the "special treat" box (one magnet is worth one jelly bean, starburst, etc) or a toy that was taken away due to him not picking them up, from not sharing the toy, abusing the toy, etc. Most days he'll cash in two or three magnets for special treats, then the rest will go towards toys taken away. He looks forward to cashing in time so much that he talks about it all day. "I just got a magnet. I can get my train back!" He also has learned the value of his magnets. In the beginning we would tell him he would lose his toys if he didn't pick them up by the end of the day, and he wouldn't care. Now he knows he has to work hard with self-discipline to earn his toys back so he makes sure to pick them up. Great training for when he earns real money! The only thing I'd change is for the chart not to have the days of the week on them. We'll be using this chart for our 1 yr old daughter for sure!

Great tool to teach kids responsibility!! My 3.5 yr old son enjoys putting 'smileys' on his daily achievements. I like that it has blank magnets to fill in your own.

This has definitely helped my son think about his behavior throughout the day and how to be more helpful - love that!

I have twin 5 yr old boys and an 8 yr old son that are so proud of themselves when they get to put their own "award" magnet on their board. When they see there is no magnet for putting their shoes up yet, they run around the house looking for their shoes and put them up right away. It is totally worth the money. I'm actually buying another one for my 4th child now.

We bought this responsibility chart for our 5 year old and 3 year old and it has been amazing. First of all, it is very durable since it is made of wood (even the magnets). You can also write on it with a dry erase marker and then wipe it off later to personalize it according to a new responsibility you want your child to have for that week. The kids are WANTING to accomplish everything on the chart and we can't believe the difference in how clean our house is now staying and how the kids are taking responsibility for their own actions (without even being asked!) Today my daughter came and told me that she wanted a star magnet because she had cleaned up her room - and I hadn't even asked her! It was great! I will definitely recommend this to everyone I know. There isn't one thing wrong with it - it has plenty of magnets for everything you need - and if you think of something else, there are blank ones you can write on yourself. Two big thumbs up! We wish we had found this sooner!

This toy has been great for my 3 1/2 and 5 year old daughters. They work together to reach their goals, especially "sharing" and "no whining"! :) With a certain number of goals reached by week's end, they receive a predetermined reward, and they really work for it!
I really like the range of goals that are provided... can be used when they are older too, like "wash dishes" and "take out the garbage." They also provide blank magnets to write your own made-up goals. Also, the whole board (top and bottom) can be written on with dry-erase markers. I haven't tried it yet, but that seems like a nice benefit.
I think this will last for many years... and I love it!

I purchased this item for my 5-year-old son. My husband and I were having trouble getting him to be consistent with manners and chores. The chart has become a part of our nightly routine and is working wonders. My son works very hard throughout the day to avoid the disappointment of not getting a magnet. We have even incorporated his allowance. At the end of the week he now receives money for every day he earned all of his magnets and for every responsibility he earned magnets for all week. I would recommend this product to any parent!

I bought this for my son's sixth birthday, and was thoroughly impressed!! It's handcrafted with a great wooden frame and the magnets are heavy-duty. It's got 25 different magnets to choose your "chores" from (everything from setting the table to saying sorry, and even 4 blank ones to write on yourself!), with seven different spaces to plan the kids responsibilies for the week. The "reward" magnets are fun too, with several for the kids to choose from when they complete their "responsibility" for the day. An awesome way to make doing daily chores fun. I'm going to order another one for my daughter, I like it so much.
