Great learning toy for the price November 7, 2005 Reviewer:  Beansmom See all my reviews >

I bought this clock for my 1 1/2 year old because she loved playing with a similar one at the library. She has played with it every day for the past 4 months now. It is as described- chunky blocks that are easy for the little ones to hold and manipulate to fit the openings. For the price, I think it's a must have. The paint rubs off slightly on the edges from heavy use, but not too badly. If you have a chewer, wait a little longer before giving them this one. I would recommend trying to buy one in-store, though. the first one I got was cut badly and some of the shapes were VERY difficult to pull out of the openings, and nearly impossible to fit back in. You can tell by looking at the package and jiggling each shape to be sure it's a good one.
There is also one possible oversight in the numbering- the triangle is #3, square #4, octagon #8, so why is 5 not the pentagon and 6 the hexagon? LOL! Still would highly recommend this puzzle. It also has the clock feature so it can be used for at least a couple of years.

3 year old November 6, 2006 Reviewer:  Izzy "Informed shopper" (Seattle, WA)  See all my reviews >

I bought this online as a gift for my niece on her first birthday. She played with it briefly and almost choked on a piece. That's when my sister realized it was rated as a toy for 3 year olds!!! Be aware.

We love this clock! November 10, 2007 Reviewer:  Amy (FL)  See all my reviews >

We received this as a gift for my son when he was about one and a half years old. He has absolutely loved it!! He quickly mastered putting the shapes in and learned the names for the shapes. It also helped him to recognize numbers. He plays with the hands on the clock, but I think he's still too young (<3yo) to understand time.

I do agree that it would have been better for the shapes to be the appropriate numbers (ie. #5 the pentagon, #6 the hexagon, etc.). Later down the road we'll have to remove it from the toy box when he's trying to learn how many sides each has. Right now he can say pentagon, hexagon, octagon, but he doesn't use them appropriately.

With our second child, he puts the blocks in his mouth and the paint comes off. So keep away from teethers. ;) The Melissa & Doug products have non-toxic paint, but I still don't think it's good for the child to eat paint chips.

A favorite June 11, 2008 Reviewer:  D. R. Campagna "girls only" Real Name (Chicago, IL United States)  See all my reviews >

My daughter received this toy for her 3rd birthday. What a great toy?! She has been practicing her shapes and her interest in time has been the thing lately so this is the perfect toy. Its durable, educational and not "brand" relative. A favorite for both of us!

Long lasting toy for the right prize July 1, 2007 Reviewer:  Target buyer "ELR" (IN)  See all my reviews >

I bought this for my girl who is 3yrs. old but I think I was a bit to quick to buy this toy for my girl. She will grow into this one. She just was starting to play with the forms but the clock will come later.

My son loves it, but I have one beef April 13, 2007 Reviewer:  Kristen (TN)  See all my reviews >

We bought this after my son started showing an interest in telling time. He has loved learning all the shapes (nothing beats a 3 year old trying to say "parallelogram"). The time is coming a bit slowly, but this thing is durable, so it'll be around a while. Also, the pieces aren't so small that I worry about my infant daughter choking on them. My only beef with this item is they have the "5" on a hexagon and the "6" on a pentagon. It would have been so much smarter to swap those around. I was surpised Melissa and Doug would make that mistake.

Can't go wrong with Melissa and Doug November 7, 2007 Reviewer:  Skylar's Got Sauce (Flower Mound, TX)  See all my reviews >

My daughter loves everything Melissa and Doug, especially this clock. We bought it for her second birthday and she plays with it all the time. We have no problem with the pieces fitting into place perfectly. She probably is too young to learn to tell time, but she is learning her numbers, colors and shapes.
