A fun and classic toy

This toy is very durable and the person who bought it for her two year old obviously doesn't know how to follow age recomendations which clearly state three and up. Also while this toy is durable it is not meant to be walked on, metal rods do bend. This is a great gift for a child old enough to know not to walk on it or throw it around and is learning to count beyond ten fingers. My four year old son loves this toy and can now count to 100.

I love the idea of this toy, but be careful. My 6 year old managed to get the end posts apart and he had the beads all over his room...which was very dangerous to our other toddler. My husband put it back together with wood glue. I hope it stays because I think this is a good educational toy. If it hadn't come apart I would have rated this as 5 stars.

I grew up with one. These are hard to find today unless it is online or in a flea market/yard sale. I was impressed with this product in whole. Nice size for sure.

We bought this for my five year old's birthday. She's having a great time using it to solve simple addition and subtraction problems. My two year old loves just sliding the beads around. It is much sturdier than others I looked at when we were shopping.

Choking Hazard from Abacus!

My 2 year old stepped on her abacus and the metal rods must've bent, although not even noticeable to the eye, and the beads came off posing a choking hazard. I reassembled it, but it seems the rods are very short and do not insert into the frame far enough to stay put. She really enjoyed playing with her abacus, but it isn't worth the risk!
