Horrible, horrible experience November 17, 2008 Reviewer:  Kevin L. Sexton "K&DS" (Lexington, KY)  See all my reviews >

The only reason I gave this "one" star is because "zero" is not an option. ***Please note that not only were there problems with the furniture, but the Customer Service we received was BEYOND horrible! We ordered the Mission Bench and it arrived quickly -- with a completely split base-board. The Target.com rep was helpful and immediately sent a replacement, which was even MORE damaged than the original. The same part was broken. Otherwise, we would have combined parts from the two units. After contacting Target.com again, I was told that returning the units to the store was not an option. We did not keep the original packaging, because we planned to use the replacement packaging to return the original damaged unit -- and did not want to keep a huge box sitting around house for a couple of weeks. This is where the Customer Service TANKED. I was told that *I* needed to procure packaging for the original damaged unit and ship them both back. At this point, we had been dealing with this issue for a month. I told the agent that this was not acceptable, and asked to speak to her supervisor. During the conversation with the supervisor, the connection was extremely bad. After arguing with these people for FAR TOO LONG, I ended up having to go to the local Target store in an attempt to find packaging. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE. I was initially inconvenienced TWICE by receiving damaged merchandise. To inconvenience me a THIRD time is VERY poor customer service. I *did* go to the local store, and after dealing with a couple of very disinterested and unhelpful clerks, the store manager (the only competent and helpful person throughout this entire ordeal) was able to find packaging for me. I ended up packaging the units and setting them on my front porch -- where they waited until UPS picked them up. Finally, today -- and we are two months into this fiasco -- I had to call Target.com AGAIN, because the refund had never been credited to my account. Twice, the agent told me that she would contact UPS to pick up the merchandise. I FINALLY made her understand that they had ALREADY been returned. I just wanted my money back!! My original mild dissatisfaction has grown into extreme dissatisfaction. I have generally been a satisfied Target and Target.com customer, but not this time. I will continue to shop my local Target store, but never, ever, ever again will I order anything from Target.com. Rest assured I will be telling everyone who will listen about the horrible Customer Experience I had. Now, I'm off to scour the internet for other places to post this...

Difficult Assembly December 23, 2008 Reviewer:  Woodsy "Mandy H" (MN)  See all my reviews >

This item was purchased online after reading reviews that indicated problems with assembly and I though to myself, I am crafty ao this wont be a problem. I was wrong, my husband had to redrill 4 hole on 1A and 1B as they weren't even close to matching up. After this was done we had some trouble with the lock/unlock screws staying in place. The doors on the front close with the Magentics so that is great but one is elvated for an off centered look. There were no broken pieces, however a small chip out of the front wood was notable and disappointing for the money spent. Nice looking piece once you get past the assembly.

Arrived broken twice! DO NOT BUY!! December 3, 2008 Reviewer:  Laura in Cali See all my reviews >

I thought this piece would look nice with the rest of my Mission furniture, and I had never had a problem before with ordering furniture from Target.com before. However, when it finally arrived, a piece was so damaged that I could not put the bench together and have it function safely. I called customer service, who wanted me to contact some company in China! to order a new part. I finally asked to speak with a manager, who helped me return the whole thing and order a new one. The second one just came, even more damaged than the first one, and I just had to return it. I bet the bench would be nice looking, but quality control is no where near up to par. Do not buy this piece. You will be so disappointed, and multiple times!

looks great but not very solid February 24, 2009 Reviewer:  blonde aviator "Leah" (FL)  See all my reviews >

Love the look of this bench and the storage it provides but it is a little wobbly. It does not stay very secure with time and seems to become more unstable with use. I move a lot and it does not handle the moving very well.

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE AND BENCH! Don't BUY! January 11, 2009 Reviewer:  BotanistSF See all my reviews >

We purchased this item despite reading the poor reviews. Our mistake. It came, as others said, missing many needed pieces. We called Target who then sent us ANOTHER bench and said we were to "take the pieces we needed from the 2nd bench and then return all the rest together." So, I'm wondering if everyone isn't just buying returned benches hence all the missing pieces? Anyway, when the SECOND bench arrives it too was missing pieces, the pieces of wood were badly warped and holes for the pegs were not even drilled as they should have been! In summary, a HUGE headache. We were given no refund, or any sort of monetary compensation or all this trouble and now we have to package up all the "extra" pieces and haul them into the store (or pay the cost to mail return them) ourselves. BS if you ask me. DO NOT BUY THIS ITEM!! HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE! Way over-priced for what you get (or rather don't get!)!! CUSTOMER SERVICE WAS HORRIBLE! NO excuse that we should have paid full price for all this hassel - over 3 weeks worth of hassle for one bench.

Should Have Listened to other Reviews December 4, 2008 Reviewer:  Contented Grammy "Grammy J." (Largo, Florida)  See all my reviews >

Looking for a bench to use in our bedroom; I found this. We'd ordered other Mission style tables on two different occasions. They were great.I'd read several reviews on two different benches. This one looks good BUT as other reviewers commented, assembly can only occur with a very savvy and patient person. The magnets needed moved. Other holes needed to be drilled in order to make it fit. All joints were glued, by our choice, to give more stability. After reading the reviews focusing on the poor return experience; we decided on giving it a "try". BUT, should have ordered another design or not at all. It'll give us some service but don't know for how long.

Great Bargain...Look Before you assemble September 14, 2007 Reviewer:  Sun Chaser (Columbia, Missouri)  See all my reviews >

This bench is beautiful once assembled...that said....BEFORE you begin the assembly check to see that all the pieces are there. The back of my bench was missing. I didn't discover this until the final stages of assembly. While all the
Customer Service Reps were nice (I talked to 3 local and 2 corporate),Target has a corporate policy that if the store you purchased the item from doesn't have the same item, you will be required to go to the nearest store to pick up the missing part. Initially I was told the nearest store that had the bench was a 4 hour round trip for me. They do not transfer furniture from one store to another..No negotiation. In the end the store I purchased the bench from had another bench, the package was opened, and I was given the missing piece..The process took an entire morning to complete. In the end however I am a satisfied customer with a lovely piece of furniture at a great price. It just took much longer than I expected.

Most complicated Mission piece April 16, 2007 Reviewer:  Glyndon Morris Real Name (Phoenix, AZ United States)  See all my reviews >

This was the sixth of the Mission collection I bought and assembled. It was by far the most complicated piece to assemble, but it was still fairly easy. The others were REALLY easy. This was just easy. I highly recommend all the pieces as great values for flat-packed furniture.

Very nice, but not-so-smooth assembly. May 21, 2009 Reviewer:  Alex T. (Doylestown, Pa.)  See all my reviews >

This bench looks very good, however it arrived with a defective piece and I had to order a replacement from the manufacturer. The assembly process took quite some time because I worked on it alone. I recommend this item, it's a great buy and looks more expensive than it really is when it's all put together.

another customer with broken pieces January 20, 2009 Reviewer:  Rochester, NY (Rochester, NY)  See all my reviews >

Count me as another consumer who had to re-order broken/wrong parts.
Too bad, it is a nice looking bench.
Still waiting for the 2nd set of parts to arrive.
