Worth It December 29, 2008 Reviewer:  Mike S See all my reviews >

Intro:

Hello,

I don't really use a phone, and therefore didn't need one before now, but after the first phone I had, I decided to upgrade a little bit.

Price:

Verizon, Boost Mobile, T-Mobile, Virgin Mobile - Sure they are ok, and most people use them, but they are a huge rip that suck your money out of your pocket so fast that you will be saying, "What the ****".

Since I do not currently have a job (I am in High School, I only make 20 $ a week, and my dad wouldn't pay for anything, so I needed a cheap phone that wouldn't cost me much. If you go to Verizon, you have to do a 2 year plan, and if it is 30 $ a month, you, no matter what, have to pay 720 $ for the contract not including tax. (770 with Tax in my state)

TracFone altogether is a cheap phone that allows you to do whatever a regular phone can do, at a much cheaper price. Because Verizon and other companies make you pay 1 dollar a day to activate, it is almost like getting a plan, but with this, 250 minutes (25$)becomes 500 minutes, making it so that every buy is a sweet deal.

I had 500 minutes on my last phone, and you can easily transfer minutes and your old phone number over, making it so that I didn't have to spend any more money, which is always a plus.

Overall, for 30 $, you are getting way over for what you have paid, and the maximum I have paid for these phones so far is about 100 $ for 800 minutes and the phone.

Features:

I originally had Motorola W370, but since it didn't have some features that I did want, I exchanged it recently for a W376. I have had the phone for a little over a day now, and I love it.I really love to text, and all my friends do it, so with 3 texts only being 10 cents, I knew it would be a great deal.

Although it is very similar to the phone I had before, I have to say that I love it because I can now send pictures to all of my friends, ect.

The features are really awesome aswell. It has a camera, which I really enjoy, and it also has bluetooth, which allows me to transfer my music on, so I don't have to buy ring tones at all!

Looks:

The Look is really nice, the only problem I have with it is the keyboard on it, it is black when everything else is grey, kind of bad.

Overall: 4/5
Would I recommend this to a friend: Yes.

Only problem that I have is that it isn't a huge brand, and it is embarrasing to say, "Oh, I have TracFone," and they have no idea what it is...

awesome phone, terrible service January 3, 2009 Reviewer:  les paul See all my reviews >

This phone is great and at a reasonable price.the web browser is nice to have and the camera is pretty decent. I give the phone five stars but the customer service was not even a one star. I bought this phone as an upgrade and wanted to keep my existing phone number and minutes. I called tracfone and they said it would take up to 72 hours to make the transfer. five days later my phone was ready to be activated.I activated it and it gave me 20 minutes and 90 service days instead of my original 740 plus minutes and 200 plus service days.I called them again and after talking with them for over an hour i got my minutes, but no service days. I called them again and after another hour on the phone I had my service end dates. Tracfone is less expensive than any other phone company, now they need better service.

Nice little phone, not so nice service February 25, 2009 Reviewer:  PF (Allentown, PA United States)  See all my reviews >

The phone gets reception in rural Delaware where the Verizon and AT&T phones in my family are completely dead. Plus it's got a decent set of features for a very good price. I spend in a year what other family members spend in 2 months.

Sure, the picture quality isn't that great, but it's better than I expected for a cheaper price phone. I wouldn't use it for vacation snaps but the pictures are perfectly adequate to upload to my blog.

However, it has been 3 phone calls and about an hour of my time to transfer my phone number from my old Tracfone, get the web browser feature enabled, and activate the Tracfone storefront so I could buy ringtones. It still isn't working properly after all that. We are supposed to get a text message with a download link after we buy a tone, and the texts never come. Off to call again....

Infrequent User (50 min/mo) December 14, 2008 Reviewer:  Nancy "Lego Gal" (Northern California)  See all my reviews >

I highly recommend this phone and service to any new cell phone user who won't be using a lot of minutes and who doesn't want to spend a fortune on a plan.

I bought this phone for myself and my 11 year old son last August 2008 for [price] each. So far, they've been very reliable and easy to use. I like the slim flip-style, light up buttons, FM radio, and cheap pay-as-you-go service. My son likes the camera & changes his back screen often. It's bluetooth compatible but I'm cheap & use an ear set with a low-tech wire when I'm on the road - it works great!

I've been so please with this phone and service, I just bought a third one for my husband today at Target for $26. It was a no-brainer! The double minutes essentially pays for the phone.

Some great features: 1) double minutes for life 2) main menu displays airtime left and service end date 3) text messaging costs 1/3 of a minute 4) free games 5) many ring tones 6) easy to add airtime 7) minutes roll over.

Some drawbacks 1) the Mobile Web Browser button can be easily pushed by mistake, wasting a minute of airtime each time you do 2) the phone directory is cumbersome to program and use compared to my [..]. There is no search function, and only one number can be programed per entry 3) can't find a car charger for it, but I haven't tried very hard.

Tracfone minutes are easily available and cheap. You can buy tracfone cards online and at retail stores. With online promotional codes that add extra time to your purchased phone card, you can easily get minutes for under [price] each. Periodically, Target will have a 10% off sale on cards.

The phone comes with a comprehensive booklet as well as a quick guide.

Tracfone service representatives were very helpful and patient when I first set up my phone service. I was able to transfer my current cell number to my new phone. They simply sent me a programed simcard (overnight DHL) and helped me to install it over the telephone.

It costs me about [price] a month for both phones. I had been paying [price] a month in a 2 year contract. I'm glad to have finally joined the ranks of the savvy consumer!

Good! :) June 20, 2009 Reviewer:  Debra L. Wood Real Name (IA)  See all my reviews >

Im 13 years old and I have this phone. I got it so we wouldnt have a monthly bill to pay and it seemed easy to use. I text alot and it is good to send messages with. I ALWAYS press the mobile web browser button which takes off mintues when pressed. The camera is ok i got some good ones. The service is off and on though. All the little features like the alaram and calculator work good. Typing on the keypad is slow though. Since i text alot it gets very annoying, waiting for it to catch up.----So I hope this helped :)

Phone is ok, but ... October 30, 2008 Reviewer:  Vernie D. Kirkman "vkirkman" Real Name (Indiana, USA)  See all my reviews >

The phone works fine, but Tracfone doesn't give you a real manual, and its pretty confusing when the time comes that you want to change ringtones.

Battery doesn't hold much of a charge June 8, 2009 Reviewer:  mountainsara "Sara" (Mt. Hood, Oregon)  See all my reviews >

The phone and service are adequate for my needs. I really only have two complaints. 1. I live in a rural area but have local calling access to a major city. When I called to activate my phone and gave my zip code they gave me an area code/phone number for the other half of my state...so it's long distance for everyone I know. 2. the battery doesn't hold much of a charge. 2-3 short (really short...2-3 min tops) calls will drain the battery which stinks. The reception is OK, the camera is just OK...no major complaints w/ the functionality other than the battery.
