Nice Feature Set - but what's with the hole in the back??

We bought this about 3 weeks ago at the local Target based primarily on the looks and feature set. We don't use the timer, but the "regular" and "strong" brew settings seem to make a difference and the "fresh brew timer" is handy too.
I noticed that the amount of coffee coming out was quite a bit less than the amount of water that I was putting in. At first I attributed this to all the condensation that is generated (observable when you lift the hood) or I thought that perhaps it was just the paper filters (as we have used a permanent gold filter with our previous Braun maker). However after a few days I moved the unit and noticed a small puddle under the machine.
On the next pot that I made I witnessed something that still has me scratching my head. On the back of the unit there is a hole about midway down. Water was actually seeping out of the hole, trickling down the back of the unit, going over the power cord and onto my counter! Hah - an explanation as to why I was getting short changed on each brew!
Why they can't design a coffee maker without a hole in the back is beyond me.
What type of joke is this?
I have monitored the hole for an entire week now, and every time coffee is made, water dribbles out the hole. That's just nuts... who designed this thing?
Do you really think I want to clean up my counter after each brew?
Rating = 1 star for the retarded design.

I am very happy with this coffeemaker. It is simple to use, easy to keep clean, and very nice looking. I am a big fan of the normal and strong brew settings. It also has a temperature function which allows you to choose how hot you want the coffee. Lots of features for the price.

I received an earlier version of this coffee maker about 4 years ago as a gift. At that point, the clock was round, as were the buttons. That coffee maker worked perfectly until 6 months ago when it suddenly stopped working. So I went and purchased this newer model, and to my surprise found that they had changed a few internal parts from metal to plastic! I thought about returning it to Target and exchanging, but I also assumed that Mr Coffee knew what they were doing. I was wrong. This coffee maker only lasted 3 months before giving me problems. Now I have to beat on the top just to get it to suck up the water to brew. I have narrowed down the problem to the lid portion, one of the parts they changed from metal to plastic. And yes, I cleaned this maker every two weeks since I purchased, as I drink coffee 7 days a week. My advice, stay away from Mr Coffee altogether, as I'm sure they made the same downgrades in all of their coffee makers.

We were given this coffee pot as a Christmas gift. It worked great for a short period of time. It certainly has some fun gadgetry on it (adjustable temp warming plate, digital analog clock, programmable, etc.), however, we noticed a few defects. For starters, as in other reviews, the carafe drips when you pour, it drips ALOT! Next, we noticed the warming plate was raised and not level. Also, the lid to the carafe tends to become loose and fall off. The plastic around the top and the plastic pegs on the lid wear down in no time at all. I will say that Mr. Coffee readily replaced the entire coffee pot. Unfortunately, the replacement wore down too. They really need to send it through quality control and testing some more.

I have had this Mr Coffee for 3 years and never really had any problems. I like the features it offers, including being able to choose the strength of my coffee.
The only time I ever saw anything go wrong with the machine was when my friend made a pot and didn't have the basket in the right way, the coffee went everywhere. But that was it, not one other problem. If I get another year or so of use, I'll consider it money well spent since so many things are made to break these days.

This coffe pot broke after 4 1/2 yrs of use, but wed use it 3-4 times a day sometimes. Best EVER. I am buying another today!!!! I wasen't upset that it broke cause we had used the trash out of it. NEver leaked on me unless I put to much water in, then it comes out of the overflow hole! . It has a self cleaner!!! These people I think that are rating it low, maybe just got a bad one out of the bunch. I loved it so much all of our friends have them. And ALL 5 of them have not had any problems
Excellent product.

I've had my coffeemaker for over a year now and have had no problems with it. I received it last year as a wedding gift and love the deep red color and the fact that it can hold up to 12 cups. It's great - don't hesitate to buy!

This coffee maker was great when we first bought it. However, it started leaking water from the top of the decantur as you pour the water into the reservoir to brew. It spills water everywhere, it's annoying. Then, after about 11 months, it no longer works right. The coffee maker will beep to tell me it's finished brewing when less than a cup has brewed. I have cleaned it several times, but still encounter the same problems. Consider buying a different coffee maker.

My husband and I received this coffeemaker as a wedding present 7 months ago, and this is one of the items we were really excited about getting!! We LOVE it! I like that I can program it to brew coffee at a certain time, the "beep"-ing is loud enough for me to hear in another room so I know my coffee is ready, and cleaning it has been pretty easy too. It looks great (and expensive!) in our red kitchen, and is the best coffeemaker that we've ever owned. The clock also serves as a nightlight in our kitchen. I enjoy using it and look forward to brewing many more delicious cups of coffee!
